Tumps exact words today!

WTAF? That sounds like he is about to drop a Nuke!

How the hell has the world got here?

Trumps truth social posts sounds more like something that a dramatic gleeful tv presenter would say in a game show. Not something a world leader threatening to blow up an entire civilisation.

The average american will do absolutely nothing about this unless and until its their homes, their trains, their power stations, their schools that are being bombed. Notice how they always start conflicts far far away from their own shores knowing its other countries bearing the brunt and not them. This is the problem. they arent having to deal with any of the consequences of their governments actions and if they were, this would all stop immediately. If the iranians had nuclear weapons now would be the time they would be using them. this is going to get a lot lot worse for the rest of the world meanwhile your average american only has to worry about petrol being a bit pricier and not feeling welcome when they go on holidays.

Yes, I can see $200 oil, SKY now leading with Kanye West, who gives a f*! The media are trying to stop taking about the shitstorm coming our way, is it because they don"t want panic buying or do they just want people to keep buying/trying to borrow?

It’s the top story on the Sky News app and BBC News app. I’m not seeing any evidence that they are shying away from the story?

Amazingly there are no marches calling for all of this to stop. I guess we just aren't bothered by it or just dont believe a word that comes out of America anymore.

What good would marches in the UK do? It would just be a waste of shoe leather and bring down another barrage of insults from Trump.

Monty36 · 07/04/2026 16:13

This will take America decades to recover from. Their reputation on the World stage is so low now.

I'm quite surprised at the reporting too. Especially when so many are struggling with the COL anyway. I wonder if things will get as bad as the 70s fuel crisis?

Worse, in the 70"s people just used left-overs to make a cottage pie for a couple of days a week and used the car for work only, or even used the bus or cycled - shock horror - until it calmed down, now every aspect of many people"s lives is financialised and reliant on debt and the magical "10 Year Yield".

Mangelwurzelfortea · 07/04/2026 16:08

What absolute nonsense. You can't seriously be suggesting this is brinkmanship to get the Iran people to rise up so they're not nuked/all their infrastructure bombed?

No there will be bombing of infrastructure imo however the aim will be to make it easier for the independent factions of the IRGC to be toppled more easily by normal Iranians. The reality is the whole “Regime” now is pockets acting independently without any top down control. Taking out infrastructure will help Iranians deal with what’s left locally themselves. Time will tell but this is not some crazy mad man as you seem to think this is a carefully orchestrated plan with some of the best minds on the planet behind it. There is likely a huge infiltration of Mossad etc on the ground in Iran ready to help normal Iranians rise up.

Why are Israeli lives worth more than innocent Iranian lives?
They are not! Iranians are no more expendable than any one else!

Oh course no ordinary peoples lives are expendable, but sometimes ordinary people die in war, Are you suggesting we should have just let Hitler run amok and not bombed Germany back?

The regimes around the Middle East need to massively change, many are a threat to western values. So many people who fled Iran are supporting the pressure and attacks to change the regime.

People only drop nukes if they have do. There is no way anything nuclear will be used.

Trump had said what he is going to do, which is bad enough. He will bomb power stations, bridges and desalination plants, the same things we accuse Putin of being monstrous about.

Israel are already bombing the transport network.

To me, this will obviously hurt civilians very badly whilst having dubious military effect. And, if the Iranians retaliate and manage to hit the desalination plants of the Gulf States, we could see an unprecedented migration of people from that area and oil spiking to $200+.

Hopefully they manufacture some kind of face-saving last minute deal.

Trump did reportedly ask his advisors some time ago why he couldn't drop a nuke on Russia, and it had to be explained to him why this wouldn't be a good idea. To him, it's a toy waiting to be used.

JHound · 07/04/2026 16:14

Trump probably has some trades he is putting through so destabilising the markets ahead of time.

I hope that they never recover from this in my lifetime. they voted him in . he showed what he was like last time and still huge swathes of the country supports him. so I hope as a world we make them pariahs. we stop trading with them and in particular we stop visiting their country and giving them our money. its all we can do as ordinary citizens but I hope every single person on mumsnet with a disneyland/world booking or a las vegas one cancels it now. we have to show our disgust and this is the only weapon available to us.

Trump is doing what russia is telling him too. he is a monster.

JHound · 07/04/2026 16:17

MaturingCheeseball · 07/04/2026 16:07

Surely we can all want peace without bigging up Iran as some nice little country just defending itself? I get that Trump’s enemy is my friend, but actually supporting Iran as if it’s a football team is ludicrous. Unless that is you actually think the regime is jolly good and welcome its further reach.

Supporting the Iranian people and supporting the Iranian regime are two different things? Surely we can see that? Trump's language, threatening a genocide hits millions of Iranian people. It's fine to care about them.

In much the same way I am firmly opposed to the Trump regime but have no problem with Americans in general.

Monty36 · 07/04/2026 16:17

Those Iranians who want regime change have no weapons.

They cannot overthrow a regime that has lots of them. Nor one which is being bombed from above.

I've heard few people saying similar. If that is the actual reason that is quite disgustingly selfish.

It seems that the aim is to raise interest rates and crash stock markets and house prices, very strange, but the odd thing is the markets won"t crash (not yet anyway) they are totally addicted to the free money/zero rate sugar high!

I actually genuinely believe this. The way he does outlandish things then rolls back on them, either he is just completely crazy or completely corrupt and I do think it's a mix of the two.

Monty36 · 07/04/2026 16:21

I think he is a bit of a puppet and strings very managed. Mr Miller and others pull the strings.
