What song did you walk down the aisle to?

My DD is getting married next year and we have been discussing songs for her to walk down the aisle to.

She is quite 'alternative' and not at all 'soppy' (her words not mine!) and doesn't want anything too lovey dovey.

So what did you chose and why? I may get some sneaky good ideas for her 😜

For reference when I married my DH I walked down to Chaka Khan 'Love Me Still'

You’ve got a friend in me. Randy Newman

MeAndMyGhost · 31/03/2026 10:44

Elvis, Can't Help Falling In Love.

It was a Vegas wedding so felt appropriate, but, would probably have had it anywhere else!

Thanks so much for sharing these.

There are some great ones here that we have not even thought of and its been really nice seeing everyone's different styles and tastes. 😊

They have a first dance song, which is 'their song' but couldn't quite think of something to be playing as she walks down the aisle but I am going to show her this thread.

The arrival of the queen of Shiba.

It was a tongue in cheek joke within my family. “Who does she think she is, the Queen of Shiba” My mum didn’t know in advance and burst out laughing.

Sweet Child O’ Mine

This is a real contender. Both her and her DH to be love that song and are GNR fans.

Did you have the usual version or a different one?

Harp version of Ini Kamoze’s “Hotstepper”

“Lamb” by Gorecki.

It’s the other way round- the bands called lamb and the songs called Gorecki

Oh great! I just walked down to the intro of the original. I still well up when I hear it! Many congratulations to your DD and her future spouse 😀

It was a combination of both!

Ah I didn’t listen all the way through

tiredmoodymum · 31/03/2026 13:35

Blake Shelton - My Eyes

Also considered Luke Combs - Beautiful Crazy.

Keeks08 · 31/03/2026 13:41

We had bob marley - Is this love

ThisMustBeMyDream · 31/03/2026 13:43

I got married last year and had The 1975 - fallingforyou. It was perfect for me. Not well known, but it just worked so well.

Emmz1510 · 31/03/2026 13:45

We had a pianist who played Elton Johns Your Song when we walked down the aisle ❤️. Utterly perfect.

Bekip1 · 31/03/2026 13:46

I didn’t want a song with words so walked down to cannon in D by the Brooklyn duo.

Bowling4soup · 31/03/2026 13:48

James Arthur- Say you won’t let go

ThisZanyPinkSquid · 31/03/2026 13:49

I’m Scottish so had a piper with highland cathedral. Look at the piano guys….they do a lot of nice cover versions of songs

Only if you have no imagination! I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where they've played Here Comes the Bride!

I got married 14 years ago and I had Wagner's the Bridal Chorus as I wanted a traditional wedding. It still gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it. I also had Mendelssohn's Wedding March for after. We had an amazing day and I couldn't give a fuck if people think it lacked imagination. TBH I have attended some weddings where the music has been a bit cringey so I've never regretted my choice.

JockTamsonsBairns · 31/03/2026 14:00

We walked up the aisle to Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus.
And back down to Led Zeppelin's Black Dog.

😂

Nogimachi · 31/03/2026 14:02

“Here comes the bride” instrumental but the absolute best one (which we had on leaving the hall) is Mendelsohn’s wedding march.

Becs51 · 31/03/2026 14:08

I had Michael Bublé “for once in my life” and our first dance was Queen “crazy little thing”, love our first dance song as it still gets played a lot on the radio so when it comes on it brings the memories of the day flooding back.

FlayOtters · 31/03/2026 14:10

The Jurassic Park theme played live on the harp. It's my favourite film and a beautiful piece of music. Could see from faces who twigged what it was or didn't 😀

EstoyRobandoSuCasa · 31/03/2026 14:10

I've only heard Pachelbel's Canon at funerals!

caringcarer · 31/03/2026 14:10

Nourishinghandcream · 30/03/2026 18:22

I was very traditional.
The Arrival Of The Queen Of Sheba by Handel from Solomon.

I had this too. When DH walked up the aisle he had Montegues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet. We walked down the aisle to Pachelbel Cannon in D Major. Whilst we signed the register music played was Daniel Bedingfield If you're not the one.
