What song did you walk down the aisle to?

My DD is getting married next year and we have been discussing songs for her to walk down the aisle to.

She is quite 'alternative' and not at all 'soppy' (her words not mine!) and doesn't want anything too lovey dovey.

So what did you chose and why? I may get some sneaky good ideas for her 😜

For reference when I married my DH I walked down to Chaka Khan 'Love Me Still'

My wife kept her entrance music a secret from me, though she did assure me that she had rejected her initial idea of Ride of the Valkeries.

She actually chose the Adele cover of Make You Feel My Love. It was very apt and brought tears to my eyes.

Late to the thread and not read much but it evoked a happy memory so thought I’d add mine. Another One Bites the Dust - Queen. 20 years ago now. My husband died three years ago.

Only if you have no imagination! I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where they've played Here Comes the Bride!

Then you didn't come to mine 😁

Can't believe nobody has mentioned any of ours. We had a string quartet - I walked in to 'Time after time' by Cindi Lauper, whilst signing the register we had 'It must be love' by Madness and 'Greatest Day' by Take That. We walked out to 'Never gonna give you up' by Rick Astley. All sounded beautiful played on strings (imo anyway!). First dance was 'Let's stay together' by Al Green. I still weep whenever I listen to our wedding playlist on spotify.

Wonder of you - Elvis (Vegas wedding)

We had a string quartet and because both DH and I are big film fans, we had the instrumental music from the film Arrival to go down the aisle, which was played by the string quartet. The piece of music is called "On the nature of Daylight" by Max Richter. It's beautiful. Made me feel emotional when I walked down the aisle and loads of people commented on how lovely it was.

I had a piper and a fiddle player. 'Maire's Wedding.' The aisle was very short so I stood with my DH to be whilst they finished

Love this

We had the Jurassic Park theme when I walked down the ailse with my dad, his words when he heard "Really?" 😅 it was because it was the film we watched the day we became "official" 😊

Youshouldbestrongerthanme · 02/04/2026 21:21

We walked down together to "You Raise Me Up". I chose it as my husband loves mountains!
And as a feminist my dad stayed firmly seated! 😀

I found someone whose kids were at local music school, her son re wrote sweet child o mine to be played on violin and flute.

It was beautiful. They also played general classical music outside during photos

I also asked the church choir to sing our hymns... although one was the world in union lyrics as we are rugby fans

CofE church so happy to accommodate

Damnloginpopup · 04/04/2026 09:03

Head over feet by Alanis Morrissette. The words were right.

My DD loves this song and its also a song I used to sing to both her and her sister when they were kids. So its a special song for all of us.

We found some different versions of this on You Tube played on piano and cello and it moved us both to tears. So beautiful.

She is now going to see if she can find a local musician or group that can play this for her as she walks down the aisle. Both myself and her Dad are giving her away so it will be very special.

pachelbels canon in D.. I had a traditional church wedding and it was lovely! (Am currently getting divorced mind so may be bad luck) I bloody loved my wedding day though! First dance was “thinking out loud” by we Sheeran like a lot of weddings in 2014/15 🙈
