What song did you walk down the aisle to?

My DD is getting married next year and we have been discussing songs for her to walk down the aisle to.

She is quite 'alternative' and not at all 'soppy' (her words not mine!) and doesn't want anything too lovey dovey.

So what did you chose and why? I may get some sneaky good ideas for her 😜

For reference when I married my DH I walked down to Chaka Khan 'Love Me Still'

I had the theme song from The Princess Bride.

@MaggiesShadow - it wasn’t in Wales was it?

SuperSange · 31/03/2026 17:36

Bonnie lass ‘O Fyvie played on the mini bagpipes.

2nd marriage and civil not church I walked down the "aisle" to a Soprano version of The Beatles Here there and Everywhere. Signing the register was to When Im 64. And we kind of danced back up the aisle together to Roy Orbisons Anything you Want. So much more fun than hymns and organ music

We had a Proclaimers “theme” (actually a Hibs theme for DH) so our walking down the aisle song was meant to be “Let’s Get Married” but the venue got the wrong song and played “Sunshine on Leith” instead. 🙈

ETA: My original dream was to walk down the aisle to O Fortuna. With doors blasting open to the music as I appear and everything. We couldn’t do that at our venue LOL.

No, Ireland!

Into My Arms Nick Cave.
Dances were Something Changed (Pulp), Rainy Night in Soho (Pogues) and Tonight I'll be staying here with you (Bob Dylan).

Oh wow. I walked down the aisle to Into My Arms and had Something Changed as our first dance!

Fishingboatbobbingnight · 31/03/2026 17:57

Get it on by T-Rex

bogginbluesticks · 31/03/2026 17:58

Church Wedding - The Entrance of the Queen of Sheba, or Trumpet Voluntary, or Vidor's Tocata.

Carapu · 31/03/2026 18:30

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilbero 💗💗💗

FartyAnimal · 31/03/2026 18:40

Got married in Vegas - so some Elvis song! Can't remember which one 😂

Mnsendsmewest · 31/03/2026 18:58

We had Unintended by Muse. Totally out there according to our nearest and dearest, but completely suited us

Lilyricker · 31/03/2026 20:21

So many mentioning that Queen of sheba song. I despise all classical music.

Bright eyes - first day of my life
Was waiting for someone to mention this. Terrible song and way too twee- probably what the failed couple in 500 Days Of Summer would have married to!

Also, A Thousand Years- basic bitch territory.

HelloDaisy · 31/03/2026 20:26

My cousin played his tin whistle for my walk down the aisle. It was lovely and perfect.

Here comes the Sun by The Beatles. My Dad was quite stressed about how to pace it!

Yorey · 31/03/2026 20:52

I had Feelin’ Good - Nina Simone version. The event manager was standing ready to open the doors and kept asking when. I made him wait the whole first bit where she’s singing acapella and gave him the nod as soon as the music kicked in. Everyone said it was the best bridal entrance ever 😆
We had One Day Like This for the register signing and walked out to You Got the Love - Candi Staton version.

I had a piper and a fiddle player. 'Maire's Wedding.' The aisle was very short so I stood with my DH to be whilst they finished

Pickle2911 · 31/03/2026 21:34

My Daughter had “Still into you”
by Paramore. A family friend set it to piano and a “bridal” tempo it was beautiful ☺️❤️

Siriusmuggle · 31/03/2026 21:36

I had the entrance of the Queen of Sheba.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 31/03/2026 21:42

Instrumental version of Grow Old With Me by Tom Odell

My BiL recorded it for us
The actual song was our first dance

LittleRoom · 31/03/2026 23:43

Into My Arms - Nick Cave ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

WilfredsPies · 01/04/2026 00:02

We had God Only Knows by the Beach Boys. DH has blocked this out of his mind and is adamant that I walked in to the song we walked out to.

I thought about Danse Macabre or Special Brew by Bad Manners but eventually settled on My Baby Just Cares for Me by Nina Simone

I bloody love your first two choices!
