I'm very sad to read this, I went to school with Scott and he was a lovely lad, I've always admired him.

Can you be more specific?

They wouldn’t sack him for that.

Such a sharp move - not even suspended or sabbatical - for ‘personal conduct’ to me means there’s potentially legal issues.

Not a chance. Liza Tarbuck is great but she's far too chilled and "grown up" for a breakfast show.

Nicki Chapman is nice enough but boring.

I imagine they'll try to get either Sara Cox (has she already done breakfast?!), Rylan or someone off Radio 1...

I have been listening more to Radio 2 recently. Hope they find someone good. It’s a big ask to do a breakfast show and miss all that sleep. Maybe the guy who emigrated to Australia could do it from there 😀

I always felt he wants to talk about himself. Eveything is me me me. Absolutely can’t stand him. I may come back to R2 if they get someone decent.

I can’t stand LT - if I happen to be in the car when she’s on it’s instant Spotify. I don’t listen to the breakfast show so I can totally support her getting that.

My jaw dropped when I heard this, like others I’ve been listening to him for years and there was always a feeling he was doing what he loved and had built up a stellar career. Eurovision too. Now all gone. Such a definitive action from the Beeb points to it being something very dark indeed.

Sean Keaveny was perfect on 6Music breakfast. No other slot has ever worked the same for him, I don’t think. Don’t think he could carry it on R2, but that nonchalant schtick was a charm - feeling everybody’s pain at having to get up in the morning.

Can't stand Scott MIlls! I'd love Vernon to take over! Claudia and Rylan I'd love too but think they have too busy a schedule with their TV work to want it.

All the people saying “Thank God, he was so awful, every moment listening was torture…” and so on - do none of your radios have an off button?

I would bet almost anything it’s to do with inappropriate conduct towards younger staff.

We listen to his show every day at work and I did feel like sometimes he’d come across very passive aggressive/catty (really subtly though) but to be fair if you’re presenting something live with a high number of listeners, you do need everyone to be in top form.

I’ve never liked him, haven’t ever said that on MN so seems an appropriate time to say it now.

How can he be sacked on allegations alone? Why no investigation?

I’m slightly biased about Nicki Chapman, we spent some time with her a few years back, and she was brilliant. I don’t think she gets a huge opportunity to show her personality, but I really think she could bring warmth and wit to breakfast.

I wonder when Clara Amfo will make the move from R1 to R2. I think she’s great, I’m just too old for R1. She could be a good fit if she’s ready for the move into model-age, which tbf, she probably isn’t, just yet.

I have only one reason to dislike him which was a couple of years ago something was up with another presenter - some sort of emergency - and she couldn't do her show at the last minute so Scott Mills had to keep running his for another couple of hours. Not ideal I'm sure but he kept MOANING about it and how he was missing the cake testing for his wedding, getting listeners to phone in with questions like "have you ever missed anything really important" etc. I mean we've all had to cover for someone in an emergency, it obviously couldn't be helped, but he just kept going on about it! I was stuck listening at work and it really put me off him.

Sounds like he's been accused of much worse however.

Least his bedroom is more zen eh 😀
