Maybe the case is going to be re-opened? Or the guy has threatened to go to the tabloids?

it’s the mirror reporting that SM was investigated about historic allegations dating back to the late 90’s, SM would have been mid 20’s. I don’t know what to think of it all. We all know because charges weren’t brought it doesn’t prove innocence, I’m just sad about it as like most he’s been a voice I’ve been listening to for years.

think today will be another day of forced voices on r2, Ellie certainly sounds odd. I can’t imagine finding out something like this about a colleague and then having to broadcast to millions

and was anti SM when he took over from Steve Wright and then Zoe Ball.

Unless more comes to light in the coming days, I think this is terrible of the BBC. He’s been investigated and was not charged as it did not meet the evidential threshold set by CPS.

I know someone personally who was falsely accused of abuse, the alleged victim in question has a very long history of making allegations and has severe mental illness. Thankfully the police and CPS NFA’d it. Also thankful that his work was supportive because they too had experienced the behaviour of this individual.

It was devastating at the time and I cannot imagine him losing his job a decade later because of it. It is not for the BBC to be judge, jury and executioner.

Can’t say I’m surprised - a friend dated him many moons ago and he was dreadful to him. A nice chap he is not.

Agree. I love his breakfast show and am shocked and gutted. He’s obviously done something wrong, but I do worry about him as this very public and sudden end to his career will be devastating. I hope he’s being well supported.

No way! Tony Blackburn is a class act. He really knows his stuff, is knowledgeable and focuses on the music (mainly 60s) of which he is an expert about.

He is what DJs should be about - music first and foremost and his personality is always secondary to the music. I also like how is peppers his chat with harmless, silly jokes which sometimes really make me laugh.

Other DJs should take a lesson out of his book.

It’s a shame all round. For ages I’ve said they need radio 1.5. I prefer half the music on radio 1, but don’t like rap and dr and bass which seems to be put over lots of tracks now. Scott played good music, I used to find him more annoying on radio 1 afternoons, radio 2 seemed to be more his fit.

Greg needs to stay on radio 1, his silliness wouldn’t be taken well by radio 2 and I think he wouldn’t be ready for it.

Feels like since Huw BBC are scared to do the wrong thing so even if he was not charged Scott needs to go 😢

Agree!!! I love Tony!!! He was in his heyday during my teenage years, the music he plays on the Golden Hour on a Sunday evening (a lot of 70s stuff) brings back so many memories! I shall be devastated when he goes 🥺
