Schofield wasn’t vanilla though. He was always spouting off sexual innuendo. Plus very obviously gay and leading a weird double life staying married to his wife. No one was surprised to find out he had secrets in his closet.

Don’t you mean broom cupboard? snigger

My guess would be bullying. He has a lot of main character energy and didn’t come across very well on RATW at all. We saw how he treated his DH who he adores, imagine how he must treat the show runners?

I’d be amazed if it was sexual impropriety. He seems far to vanilla for that.

I loathed him on RATW. The way he seemed to expect villagers in some remote part of Peru (or wherever they were) to be impressed because they had the Scott Mills in their presence did my head in. I was gutted when he and his missuited, nice husband won instead of Jeff and Freddie

Seems there are a lot of us getting Schofield vibes, which is interesting as that was my first thought too.

It’s not just piss them off, in Schofield’s case he was acting inappropriately with an underage man.

I dont think so

I think he had an affair with a younger man. Inappropriate but not worth being cancelled over

I reckon he pissed people off. Wasn't a nice guy imo

Pabbel · 30/03/2026 14:56

Anybody but Vernon or Richie Anderson to fill the gap!, and forgot, please not Paddy mc Guiness either.

ShirleyPhalluss · 30/03/2026 14:57

Huff post says it’s 2 occasions of “inappropriate touching” from a historic relationship

I'd love the Rev Kate, she's intelligent, warm, funny.

I cannot stand faux-stupid Richie!

If not Sarah I’d say Trevor! His 2pm show is absolutely fantastic. I don’t even mind vernon on the radio.. couldn’t listen to Scott Mills at all, I found his self importance very off putting.

Same, it makes me wonder if he's been sacked for something like arrogant bullying. He seems to have a bit of a superiority complex.

RaraRachael · 30/03/2026 15:00

Isn't it interesting that people's opinions are so diverse.

I can't stand Rev Kate and am always happy when it's Jason doing their show on his own.

Very. And they'll hire and fire based on numbers (as well as misconduct, obvs). I cant fathom how he lasted this long. But I also don't get how Paddy McGuiness is still on air.

'Faux stupid'
You've hit the nail on the head there. And that's why I can't stand Richie. He's clearly not daft if he's managed to clamber so high at Radio 2. So why act like some ditzy idiot?

Ireallycantthinkofagoodone · 30/03/2026 15:02

I hope that whoever replaces him will be employed on a much more realistic salary. Around £1000 a day for being on the radio for a few hours is, quite frankly, ridiculous. It’s licence payers money, and it’s time the general public is consulted about how their money is spent.

A very good agent and some watertight NDA's to keep that family man of the people image going.

I assumed Schofield!

I didn’t see Schofield as a children’s presenter, although his beginnings were.

Have you ever heard of Stacey Solomon?

Dartmoorcheffy · 30/03/2026 11:52

Please dont let shaun keaveny (sp?) Replace him . He ruins every show he covers with his boring voice. Id be happy if they keep Gary on.

Wrong! My mornings haven't been the same since he left Radio6 breakfast. I can't stand false jollity in the mornings.

Arraminta · 30/03/2026 15:08

There couldn't be any concerns over a relationship he had over 10 years ago unless it was highly inappropriate. And the only reason I can think of is that the other male was vulnerable in some way?

ShirleyPhalluss · 30/03/2026 14:57

Wait, so in a historic relationship he inappropriately touched the person during this?! Sounds like an ex is bitter and wants blood. Unless he’s saying he interfered with him without consent.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 30/03/2026 14:52

Controversial

I reckon schofield should be given another chance

He had a relationship with someone young - not the end of the world sorry

Edited

Nope it was grooming. The man (then a boy) is apparently a shadow of himself.

Bombombomtralala · 30/03/2026 15:13

I wondered where he’d gone. Blimey!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 30/03/2026 15:14

It was definitely grooming an underage boy in schofe’s case.

I apparently heard that he was doing well and has moved on.

Grooming is serious and dispicable, but i just dont think this was

Why not? Never heard of intuition? Must his body language, tone, whatever. No idea what the reason for sacking is but I always felt he was not Mr Nice Guy shall we say.

I'm with you, always thought we was very fake.

Agreed. I dont know why he is dragged out into these sorts of situations

Edwards broke the law around indecent images so thats a different matter.

He was in his 20’s. It was such an “issue” as Schofield was covering up that he was gay.

Why was Schofield sacked if it was such an innocent relationship then?
