historic male relationship from a decade ago is what the press are reporting now

Got to be more to it than that 😞Don't say he was another Scofield 😞

Whatever turns out to be the reason, I always felt there was something really off about him so I'm not surprised he's the latest big name to hit the headlines in this way. Can't really explain exactly what it is about him that makes me feel like that but my spidey senses are never wrong.

Course you did. 😂

LadyDanburysHat · 30/03/2026 14:28

I would love OJ to take over. I don't know why he hasn't got a better lot yet. He is great when he covers for anyone. Maybe he likes his nights?

I would hate it to be Vernon, he is going downhill, used to like him but he gets on my nerves now.

Nobua · 30/03/2026 14:29

Male relationship from over 10 years ago.
There’s no rules against sleeping around or being gay, so only 1 thing this could mean.

summershere99 · 30/03/2026 14:32

I’m wondering if taking decisive action now means that there will therefore be no investigation because he’s no longer an employee and therefore no transparency. Which actually works in favour of both the BBC and Scott. No investigation means no need to report what the allegations are or what he’s been accused of / done ? I don’t know if I’m correct in thinking this though?

What are you implying?

He might have had a dalliance with someone he worked with, said 'oh I can get a few openings for you'

Is that what you mean?

Or are you saying you think it was a child?

Why not? Never heard of intuition? Must his body language, tone, whatever. No idea what the reason for sacking is but I always felt he was not Mr Nice Guy shall we say.

I’ve never liked him, I stopped listening to radio 1 because of him and was annoyed he went over to radio 2. I’ve always felt he was better suited to local radio. He comes across a bit sulky, especially when he was on strictly. I’ll be interested to see what’s he been up to though…

I agree. I've always found him to be a lightweight.
I don't think Popbitch has said anything recently that might have been alluding to this, which is surprising as they're usually all over this sort of thing.

Fast800goingforit · 30/03/2026 14:34

I think @Nobua means abuse of power/grooming.

Letsgobaby26 · 30/03/2026 14:40

Love Scott. I'll be relieved when I find out the reason as then I'll know how to react.

alldressedupinblue · 30/03/2026 14:41

I’d actually rather know why Liza Tarbuck disappeared and then announced it weeks later.

Franpie · 30/03/2026 14:43

My guess would be bullying. He has a lot of main character energy and didn’t come across very well on RATW at all. We saw how he treated his DH who he adores, imagine how he must treat the show runners?

I’d be amazed if it was sexual impropriety. He seems far to vanilla for that.

Tillow4ever · 30/03/2026 13:42

I assume they meant Saville?

I assumed Schofield!

Letsgobaby26 · 30/03/2026 14:48

I think a lot of the reasons on here would be classed as professional conduct or misconduct and not personal conduct.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 30/03/2026 14:51

I reckon theres a group of men in charge at the beeb and itv

And if you piss them off, youre getting sacked

See
Loose women and Lorraine being downgraded
Eastenders sackings
David Williams (deserved) and Phil scholfield

Dunno just a vibe I get

vanilla? Like Schofield?

He looks haunted and traumatised from doing nights for so long 😄

He did a stint on masterchef so hope he gets something from it

Why has Rob Beckett's wife started appearing with him on TV? Apologies to her if I've missed something and she's actually the talent and workhorse behind the puppet but she's started just sitting next to him on TV programmes.

Lou has had her own book (Lessons From a Default Parent) recently released and she has been publicising it. I think Rob has appeared with her to give moral support.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 30/03/2026 14:52

Controversial

I reckon schofield should be given another chance

He had a relationship with someone young - not the end of the world sorry

therockingbird · 30/03/2026 14:52

If not Sarah I’d say Trevor! His 2pm show is absolutely fantastic. I don’t even mind vernon on the radio.. couldn’t listen to Scott Mills at all, I found his self importance very off putting.

LetterBetter · 30/03/2026 14:53

The speculation has got to be worse for his reputation, surely?

He'd be better publishing a personal statement.

Whatever the reason - it's big.

It’s not just piss them off, in Schofield’s case he was acting inappropriately with an underage man.

Schofield wasn’t vanilla though. He was always spouting off sexual innuendo. Plus very obviously gay and leading a weird double life staying married to his wife. No one was surprised to find out he had secrets in his closet.

LetterBetter · 30/03/2026 14:55

I loved Scott in the afternoon slot but he doesn't suit the morning one at all.

Vernon is going downhill, lazy shows relying on Janice/Janine boring jokes and dead air time with them giggling at themselves, I've turned off.
