Yes. Which suggests they have recorded evidence or he's admitted it @NoSoupForU

If he was under investigation already for something deemed serious misconduct then the BBC have royally fucked up by keeping him on air, no?

I guess it depends when it came to light or the allegations were made.

FrankieMcGrath · 30/03/2026 13:53

Who is OJ that people keep referring to as a good replacement?

Doesn't sound like it - allegation arises so he's taken off air last Tuesday, and then by the weekend they had enough info to end his contract.

They can't pull the trigger too early because if it turns out to be nothing they'd be facing the mother of all employment tribunals.

Daily Mail is saying:

Radio 2 star Scott Mills sacked by BBC over 'historic male relationship from a decade ago'

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15691075/Scott-Mills-sacked-BBC-Radio-2-following-complaint-personal-conduct-leaving-staff-shock-stars-unexpected-departure.html

The Daily Mail has nothing. They're reporting an article in the Mirror!

Who is OJ that people keep referring to as a good replacement?

OJ Borg. Actual proper presenter who does a graveyard slot on r2 but covers for others and is very good.

Who is OJ that people keep referring to as a good replacement?

OJ Borg who presents a late night show and covers on high days and holidays for Vernon and others.

Edited

Definitely suggests he's been questioned about something and admitted to the wrong doing.

the80sweregreat · 30/03/2026 13:57

I like OJ spooney as he sometimes fills in for Trevor Nelson and they are similar presenters.

No, I meant if he was already under investigation prior to last Tuesday, as was suggested by someone else.

I'm saying its unlikely he'd have been kept on air whilst under investigation. He'd surely have been suspended pending investigation, with whatever it is being serious enough for dismissal. The BBC have done that before and rightly been dragged for it so presumably they'd suspend straight away now?

OJ and Spoony are different people.

Gettingbysomehow · 30/03/2026 14:02

No doubt yet another disapointing man who cant keep his trousers on or his hands to himself. What the hell is wrong with these people?

CurlewKate · 30/03/2026 14:02
  1. perpetuating a damaging myth about people of a different race is racism.
  2. Being gay is not the same as being paedophile.

Oh sorry ! 😞 I thought he was called OJ spooney !!
shows I know nothing ..

witheringrowan · 30/03/2026 14:05

@NoSoupForU Yes, sorry, sounds like we are on the same page. I doubt they've known about this for long given that he was supposed to be on a RATW podcast that was only announced on 12th March.

laundryhamper · 30/03/2026 14:05

To go so abruptly like that suggests he was given a choice between a messy suspension pending investigation for gross misconduct or going immediately under a settlement agreement and mutual NDA, and he chose the latter.

The trouble with the latter is that sooner or later the misdeed and the compensation sum will come out and everyone will complain about how licence payers’ money has been spent rewarding poor behaviour.

aquashiv · 30/03/2026 14:07

Hopefully, they catch Sara now—she's good. He was dull.

biwr · 30/03/2026 14:11

historic male relationship from a decade ago is what the press are reporting now

I assume they meant Saville?

Oh of course!!

So horrific was he as a 'childrens entertainer' I didnt click it was him

He used to horrify me as a child.

FrankieMcGrath · 30/03/2026 14:15

Thanks @HisNotHes& @Fast800goingforit - I’ve not heard of OJ Borg - will have to listen out for him.

the80sweregreat · 30/03/2026 14:18

OJ Borg, that’s him !
If this personal misconduct was ten years ago, it’s strange it wasn’t flagged up before now.

I can’t imagine the BBC would offer a settlement in those circumstances for the exact reasons you describe.

TheUsualChaos · 30/03/2026 14:22

Whatever turns out to be the reason, I always felt there was something really off about him so I'm not surprised he's the latest big name to hit the headlines in this way. Can't really explain exactly what it is about him that makes me feel like that but my spidey senses are never wrong.

CanterThroughChaos · 30/03/2026 14:22

https://mol.im/a/15691075 Don’t feel too sorry for him, could be the next Phillip Schofield…..

SpringCalling · 30/03/2026 14:23

Silverbirchleaf · 30/03/2026 13:01

I said the same to my dh. Surely they would take him off the radio and investigate.

If he has been arrested though it would be a different story. The BBC got burnt when they only suspended Huw Edwards when he was arrested, and they never managed to claw back the salary he was paid until eventually sacked. So maybe they've learnt from that. Maybe domestic abuse? Who knows ...
