Why is nobody posting happy birthday on my Facebook? 😔

Definitely a first world problem and name change for obvious reasons.

It's my birthday and I usually wake up to numerous messages on my timeline and they pop up during the day too.

All my settings are as they should be but nobody is posting, and it's not showing anywhere (even Facebook isn't wishing me happy birthday). Spoke to my mum and she confirmed no birthday prompts although she can see my birth date on my profile as usual.

DP is at work, kids are gaming for a bit while I have a chilled morning, and we are going out later so it's not that it's a shit birthday or anything.

But I'm missing my FB messages! 😭

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm assuming it's a technical glitch.

Its my birthday today as well, got my usual facebook messages. I actually went out shopping so I wasn't too bothered.

She did say she was expecting responses like this. If you are used to lots of fb messages every year and you wake up with none, she’s entitled to ask if something has changed with birthday settings/reminders.

All my group still wish each other hb on fb and share photos (as my teen says, it’s for us grannies apparently - im in my 40’s and definitely not a granny!)😂 I still wish friends hb on fb and can see lots of other people do aswell.

What age are you? All of my group (who originally had fb) in their 40’s/50’s still use it, some regularly share photos, some just share holiday photos/special occasions. All of us use it for hb posts on a regular basis.

I get the younger generation are on different SM apps but fb is definately used by my generation.

I only log into Facebook for a few specific groups anymore. Most people in my cohort have gone pretty quiet.

I don't get birthday reminders anymore - I used to until about a year ish ago. Maybe this is why? I only know when it is someone's birthday if they post themselves saying its their birthday etc which will lead me to comment then. I understand where you are coming from though but generally think its a FB thing as I don't get the reminders anymore

I actually don’t see birthdays on Facebook the way I used to, maybe it’s the same for others too.
The number of people that use it regularly has also dropped a lot in the last couple of years.

I think Facebook posting has really gone out of fashion - you either know someone well enough to know their birthday and their number or you don’t!

I use FB regularly and it’s my birthday today but I probably have it on private or something. I find birthday greetings on it cringe tbh - if I know them well enough I wish them happy birthday by text/card/in person.

Cos facebook is rubbish now and is just a load of ads and click baits pushing anything of value away!

happy, I assume 30th. I didn't get as many posts last year as before. But then I've not admitted to having a birthday for about 10 years. (Us oldies still use it for birthdays)

Op my neighbour was saying nobody bothers with facebook now. Happy Birthday. I have a few whatapps so get birthday messages through that. But facebook nothing

Nobody comments Happy Birthday anymore. It's just not a thing. And I'm glad!! Hated my timeline beign filled with it

Been out for lunch and shopping with the kids, it's been a good day.

Some messages have actually started to trickle in via FB now! They started slow and then got busier so I think it is a case of cumulative engagement. It just took wayyyy longer to get going this year 😅

The same thing happened to me. I think one issue is that a lot of people began to trust FB to prompt them to say Happy Birthday. Then when they stopped using it much or FB became rubbish they didn’t have a physical list or not added to phone that maybe they would have had years ago.

Go into Personal Details on your page on Facebook then click on your birthday and it will tell you who can see it. Mine says “Friends” but “Only me” is also an option. Maybe yours got changed without you realising.

I get a reminder in the “stories” section at the top the day before a birthday to remind me to wish them the next day.

yeah I’ve given up on FB but likely you have changed your privacy so no one knows your birthday - you may not have even realised. For me, no one can see any posts on my timeline if I’m tagged. I didn’t change this but yeah it happened!

I missed my friends birthday a week or so ago because Facebook didn't remind me. We never send cards or presents but I'd always wish her happy birthday. I never remember the date as I've always just been prompted. Perhaps it was like this as no one wished you happy birthday.
