Why is nobody posting happy birthday on my Facebook? 😔

Definitely a first world problem and name change for obvious reasons.

It's my birthday and I usually wake up to numerous messages on my timeline and they pop up during the day too.

All my settings are as they should be but nobody is posting, and it's not showing anywhere (even Facebook isn't wishing me happy birthday). Spoke to my mum and she confirmed no birthday prompts although she can see my birth date on my profile as usual.

DP is at work, kids are gaming for a bit while I have a chilled morning, and we are going out later so it's not that it's a shit birthday or anything.

But I'm missing my FB messages! 😭

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm assuming it's a technical glitch.

Ready for all the comments telling me what a sad sack I am (I know this already, trust me! 😁)

I use Facebook for the health groups - I have complex rare autoimmune issues and help and advise in the groups on those, I never post birthday messages etc anymore.

What are people using instead of Facebook?
I really miss when I would see all of my friends in my feed, and the nice chats in the comments, although that is going back a bit!

I'm noticing it isn't prompting me for people's birthdays any more too (I do still use it as do a lot of people I know albeit not as often as we used to, it is useful for groups and local news), I have my closer friends birthdays in my phone and I see them there but not on FB.

I hardly had anyone wish me a happy birthday on Facebook the other week. Quite disappointing seeing as I always do for others and not one of my near friends bothered. But that’s ok. I’m petty so I won’t be saying to them anymore 😄😄
I do have a lot of people who hardly bother anymore with Facebook and have moved to Insta though too.

Agree with others that many people don’t post on fb any more. I don’t. My DH and best friend don’t even have fb anymore.

If someone means enough to me to wish them happy birthday, i whatsapp them instead.

Happened to me. Didn't get a single message one year where I'd usually get at least 20. Somehow my settings had changed. Google it

I understand this, but there must be a glitch as even people who know it's my birthday are not seeing prompts.

Its strange to go from many years of multiple messages to absolutely zero don't you think?

This is not really about who does/ doesn't use FB any more, I don't think.

Strange when you'd think fb would be encouraging more engagement, not less.

I've checked every setting, even went on the laptop to have a proper look. It's all as it should be. I was expecting something to have changed without my knowledge but it's all fine. Bizarre.

Dear Lord, who bothers with Facebook? Technically I have a FB account, but I think I only used it once or twice, years ago, and now I can't remember my password.
If I want to wish someone happy birthday, I contact them directly, like a normal person! There definitely is no need for performative messages on social media - I want my greetings to be private and personal.

I don't know anyone who still uses Facebook like that. Lots of people still have accounts but deleted the app!

I rarely post on fb now but when I do, I get no response at all. I think my oosts are not visible to friends due to some algorithm. Perhaps some setting has changed about prompts, or noneof your friends are on fb today yet.

People rarely use it nowadays, it’s all tiktok or whatsapp mostly. I only check mine once in a blue moon.

Last week I got a birthday notification for a FB friend at 4pm, so i think there is lag Meta has started to ignore Facebook 😅 anyway Happy Birthday hopefully the happy birthdays are just delayed 😊

I know people are different in terms of ability to remember dates, but tbh, i either remember people’s birthdays anyway or i have them in my phone calendar. The only people that post on my fb are people i don’t talk to otherwise and haven’t seen for years, like ex work colleagues. Another recent change i’ve noticed is making new friends that also have fb, but we don’t add eachother because we don’t feel a need.

I think people tend to communicate more on whatsapp, and fb is just full of ads and AI crap. I only use it for local things like freecycling.

I just got Facebook prompts for today's birthdays just now (as I was reading this thread funnily enough!). Sometimes I'm sure it's like 10:30am before it prompts.

But also, it is dying out. I barely ever post birthday messages on people's walls (are they even still called walls?!) anymore. But I will send a direct message or WhatsApp instead.

I only get notifications about birthdays slightly later in the day. Like 10 am maybe? Not first thing.

My auntie’s Facebook birthday reminder didn’t appear for me until the day after her birthday on the weekend just gone.. luckily my family
group chat reminded me 😅

Fb doesn’t notify me about birthday anymore so I keep having to give belated birthday wishes. Very annoying!
