Why is nobody posting happy birthday on my Facebook? 😔

Definitely a first world problem and name change for obvious reasons.

It's my birthday and I usually wake up to numerous messages on my timeline and they pop up during the day too.

All my settings are as they should be but nobody is posting, and it's not showing anywhere (even Facebook isn't wishing me happy birthday). Spoke to my mum and she confirmed no birthday prompts although she can see my birth date on my profile as usual.

DP is at work, kids are gaming for a bit while I have a chilled morning, and we are going out later so it's not that it's a shit birthday or anything.

But I'm missing my FB messages! 😭

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm assuming it's a technical glitch.

People are ignoring the fact that the OP would normally receive lots of happy birthday messages on Fb. I get that some people don't use it any more but it wouldn't change that drastically in 1 year. Like I said before, this happened to me & somehow my settings had changed so nobody was able to post on my wall

I can't remember the exact settings but I googled it & it was a sneaky little setting I didn't know about. Can you look at your Fb via someone else's & see if they're able to post to your wall?

Nobody uses it anymore ? What a load of BS. I use it just as much as I ever did and so do my friends and family.

My last b'day saw v few messages on my timeline but when I checked FB had decided my birthday was on a totally different date for some reason. It's not sad to want ppl to wish you well.

Loads of people are still on facebook (around here anyway).. My daughter was 18 yesterday, and she had over a 100 Happy Birthday's from friends and family, so I would assume there is some sort of glitch and your birthday isn't showing up, or it's just that people haven't got around to it yet on a busy Monday morning.

I’ve just gone into FB and if I click on “search” loads of searches come up, also memories and birthdays - it shows 2 today, I’ve not been prompted in anyway but will manually now look, as I like wishing people happy birthday.

Birthdays don't always show in people's notifications straight away - sometimes they appear later in the day. One of my relatives has a birthday on significant holiday date, and last year it didn't mention it in my notifications until about 3pm.

FB is very hit and miss re notifications of friends' birthdays these days. Plus not many people use it much.

Same here. I used to send birthday wishes to everyone, but I don't now. Just the odd person here and there.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago and was also gutted! Turns out my settings weren't posting it for some reason.

I rarely go on FB anymore, but don't seem to see individual's posts or birthdays. It's all groups, reels, memes (99% of which are gardens, dogs and jewellery), and ads.
Facebook is seen as seriously 'old dear' by my young adult DC.

I still see birthday prompts every day, it comes up in my notifications, and my fb is as busy as ever - loads of my friends post stuff and we interact, plus groups Im in are busy too. The more you interact, the more you see, and the less room for ads and AI.

I’m mid 50s though.
Lots of people I know post stories that also show on Insta too so two birds with one stone as it were.

I feel as if people don't use FB as much as they once did and Facebook birthday or Christmas messages just aren't a thing anymore. They had their sweet time but now that's just gone, even those that are still active FB users don't post them anymore. That's just how sm culture is changing. Could be frustrating, I see that tbh

I turned off birthday notifications, and notifications on everything because there's no need, they're irritating.

A message is nicer than generic FB ones that are already written by the app and users just click 'send' on.

Facebook has gone down the toilet. You used to be able to catch up with family but these days it's filled with adverts and "suggested" groups.

I have a few important birthdays on my calendar.

For others, FB prompts me when other people have started putting birthday wishes on. It says something like "ten people have wished Anastasia a happy birthday."

I might or might not add mine. More likely if they did it to me.

Once I passed the age of ten, it got less important.

If you want to nudge people, invite them to a cake or something.
