Why is nobody posting happy birthday on my Facebook? 😔

Definitely a first world problem and name change for obvious reasons.

It's my birthday and I usually wake up to numerous messages on my timeline and they pop up during the day too.

All my settings are as they should be but nobody is posting, and it's not showing anywhere (even Facebook isn't wishing me happy birthday). Spoke to my mum and she confirmed no birthday prompts although she can see my birth date on my profile as usual.

DP is at work, kids are gaming for a bit while I have a chilled morning, and we are going out later so it's not that it's a shit birthday or anything.

But I'm missing my FB messages! 😭

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm assuming it's a technical glitch.

No one really uses FB anymore do they? I haven’t posted on there once this year. It’s probably that.

I think it's a trend that's dying out tbh. Also are you in the UK? It's still early.

I think it's just that a lot if people aren't bothering to log inti Facebook at all any more. It's no longer a place to get updates about your friends it's just a place of doomscrolling through clickbait.

Facebook is just a long list of adverts these days, I don’t see anything posted by friends let alone get alerts for birthdays.

I share my birthday with a friend and I can see hers. Very strange!

I used to love FB but now hardly bother. My feed is 99% adverts, reels and news stories about grisly deaths and suicides that I don't want. If I want to see any updates from actual friends I have to go searching for them. So I don't often log in. What has happened to FB should be a lesson in how to ruin your brilliant business model.

I rarely use facebook, only really for a work group I have yo post in, I don’t think people really use it anymore, I’ve not used it properly in years but did the other day and still had a page with birthdays showing, I didn’t post on walls but I did message the people.
maybe because I don’t like it on mine, I wouldn’t think of doing it on others. I have friends who post birthdays on instagram reels more nowadays.
I’m just not keen on attention seeking which a lot of social media has become

I've had some texts which is nice, and there are obviously people who dont need the reminder.

It was just a nice way to pass the time while lounging in bed (which thanks to the Easter Holidays I'm able to do today 🥳)

No one uses it any more. I log in maybe every other week just to see if anything is going on and it hasn't been for about 3 months at least. I see so many bots and rubbish posts with fake AI that they seem to be the main users.

Facebook will have "hidden" your date of birth so no one knows.

If you are bothered make a post about how you've had a lovely birthday so far/had lots of cards/wonderful presents etc and you'll find people swoop in to wish you happy birthday.

By randomising what it tells you when, FB hopes to keep you logging on despite the crappiness of the advert serving stream.

I'll admit I never bother wishing anyone a hb on FB anymore and I never bother looking to see if anyone has posted on mine, it's just not really a thing anymore.

Sometimes the prompt doesn’t pop up as a notification until later in the day, so unless people are actively logging in and then looking to see birthdays they might not realise.

Although I have friends in different time zones and they are also quiet.

I also don’t log in to FB every day any more.

It's still visible, just none of the birthday prompts that it usually gives.
