A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Wouldn't you get punched if you wandered round Cuba telling people that the regime was wonderful?

Let's hope so. Idiots.

At least your tooth is out now. I hope the extraction was better than you expected. Fingers crossed it heals quickly.

@DameProfessorIDareSay Glad to hear that you're healing and pottering around. Must feel nice. 😊
Yes similar conversations between DH and I most days. The constant circus is farcical, but no longer shocking or surprising.

Hope you're feeling better too @justasking111

The footage of that! They looked like they were on safari on their luxury coach filming the local poors. Ilhan Omar's daughter was described as throwing food at people as if they were seagulls.

Jesus. How incredibly rude of them.

God they’re an embarrassment.

@DameProfessorIDareSay oh I'm glad you're feeling better. That's really good! Sounds like you are doing well.

thank you for the well wishes all

I also feel silly because it's not so much pain that's a problem... I just feel really ...weird. I can't explain it. Almost like being under the weather with a virus or something? I don't think I have a virus...

I hope the pain doesn't kick off again later because I don't do well with painkillers. After my spinal injury, I pretty much had to go without because every one they tried me on upset my stomach. It was strange, I bet that's the only time in my life I will ever have painkillers actually pushed at me by the doctor!

right, I'm going to go and investigate this Cuba madness. You know when you just vaguely scan social media and you see something that you just assume is made up or part of somebody's fever dream? Or a weird joke?

I really miss when things were normal!

Can you stay in bed or lie on the sofa? It’s probably given your body a shock and made you feel weird.

Child poverty, and poverty generally in the UK, has gone up significantly since Labour came to power

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3w38qvz195o

Not surprising when the cost of living is so high.

I was just reading an article on Sky about the cost of rents, less housing stock available thanks to the renters rights bill, and a recent surge in right to buy. Also inflation and rising unemployment under Labour.
Yet Starmer is campaigning on the CoL like he's some kind of saviour.

@38thparallel I've been sitting on the sofa all day

I felt fine when I woke up, but within an hour, I did not! Weird.

Looked up the Cuba thing - I presume stuff like the patients dying while the concert was on is made up? I really hope it's made up.

I haven't seen any of the sm stuff on Cuba. It will give me the rage, and its hard to tell what's true with events like this. Sorry, not much help.

I hope you have a peaceful night with your mouth. Perhaps its just the anaesthetic making you feel a bit funky. I don't handle anaesthetic well so have to be careful driving etc for a while after.

I couldn't read the full article you linked, but I got the gist. I hope they're successful and save the school.
3 more years and this dreadful policy will be in the bin.

Your Party less than the 2% the Others got then? 😭 Presumably they’ll cry if they want to.

Albertroad · 26/03/2026 21:40

8 % for Restore. Interesting

More in common a little less frightening.

@StatuteofLiberty that might have been a joke about Owen Jones

But it does seem like the sort of thing he would do

I didn't realise this Cuba network had so much funding here - from the trade unions. By rights I should love the trade unions. But in reality, I don't know who they represent any more.

@TheNuthatch I only had a local anaesthetic. But apparently in terms of replacing the tooth, an implant is much less impact on your jaw than an extraction. Who knew? I always thought having an implant sounded horrendous. To be honest, it still does 😂 but people who have lost teeth due to grinding them are not good candidates for that anyway.

i'm sorry, I'll stop boring on about it!

TheNuthatch · 26/03/2026 22:25

@SapphireCasino
It's local anaesthetic that makes me ill. I was fine when I had a general, but only had that once. No idea why.

As for implants, in my experience, I would say it was a lot harder than an extraction.
So worth it though. Sounds like it wouldn't be right for you anyway if its not recommended for teeth grinding. Good luck.
