A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Im sefton too! So you might get something similar. They were round begging for votes last weekend.

Ooh, can't wait! #sarcasm 🤣

Albertroad · 25/03/2026 20:56

thatsmyhouse · 25/03/2026 20:42

He literally is a leader. And it's not hiding to point out the reasons why something can't be done. The last lot lied to the Queen to shut parliament down illegally. Now THAT is hiding.

Oh you're from over the way.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/03/2026 21:12

Albertroad · 25/03/2026 20:56

Oh you're from over the way.

They all get annoyed / frustrated when an unknown infiltrates them (like earlier today). Yet then one of them (them being a Labour supporter, not necessarily a known poster over there, NC excepted) comes here and does the same. I thought there was meant to be a 'lurk if you like but don't post' pact?

I'm so glad I don't watch PMQs it causes such frothing 🙄.

He never answers the questions. This time, he admitted Ed Milliband is the boss, not him! Thems the rules! Why can’t Kemi understand that the buck doesn’t stop with him!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

He doesn’t seem to understand the point of a prime minister. It’s not to find a process and jump behind it, but to exercise judgement and power when we are beyond process. He is do inadequate.

Then Ed Davey rose up and agreed with KS about Miliband.🙄

Pacificsunshine · 25/03/2026 22:46

He’s hoping for a coalition opportunity.

He looks like a suck up. I think the Lib dem vote will collapse. Why vote for them, if it’s no different than voting for Labour? Just vote Labour in the first place.

KS sneers at KB and condescends to her in a peevish nasal twang, and then fawns over ED. They are all politicians and can take it, but the optics are horrible. It just looks like two men freezing out a woman. Some of us of a certain age have memories of this in the workplace. It really turns me off. Makes me want to route for KB.

thatsmyhouse · 26/03/2026 06:12

We don't have a presidential system. There is a cabinet and laws that determine how that operates. But as I said above, lots of Tories do have a very cavalier attitude to the law so it's not surprising they weren't satisfied by his explanation.

StatuteofLiberty · 26/03/2026 06:53

Interesting discussion about MCsweenys /mandelson phone on this morning. They are even saying at that level of government with potential gov secrets on it wouldnt it be a special number to report it too ?

They are calling it potentially the mother of all coincidences!

There’s not much point staying to insult on this thread. You’d get more of what you’re after on the others.

Sarahconnor1 · 26/03/2026 07:18

Oh the Mcsweeney phone story absolutely stinks and the excuses/explanations being trotted out by Labour MPs unravel almost as soon as the words are spoken.

I simply don't trust them.

StatuteofLiberty · 26/03/2026 07:28

@Sarahconnor1 awful isn't it. What was on that phone !!

I can't think of anymore ways that this gov can discredit it self.

Bit ironic given the issues the Labour Party has had recently. I could list a whole load of their MPs / councillors etc who've been in legal trouble. Best not open Pandora's Box on that, eh?!

Is this a tit for tat plopping going on? The pact is clearly broken!

I saw a great meme on TwiX earlier based on Scooby Doo. I wish I'd saved it to post it.

This is the biggest phone loss coincidence since the Rooney / Vardy situation (as a pp referred to previously). And I think we all believe it just as much as we did that one!

SpaceRaccoon · 26/03/2026 08:36

Found you guys, after a busy and distracting wee while there.
As always I'd suggest ignoring the poppers entirely. It's not like they say anything worth engaging with.

In relation to the proposed closure of Alderley Edge School for Girls in July 2026. I found this piece of news which may offer hope to other independent schools struggling through VAT.

Have any of you been following the Cuba ‘humanitarian boat convoy’?
What a farce! Corbyn and Knee Cap and co staying in a luxury hotel which is one of the few buildings in Cuba to have electricity and then wandering around the island telling its hungry citizens how wonderful the communist regime is.

No way. They could at least do a room swap so someone else appreciates the electricity plus food and they can appreciate the full effect of neither.

StatuteofLiberty · 26/03/2026 16:09

@38thparallel
Parallel reality indeed what a farce !

The footage of that! They looked like they were on safari on their luxury coach filming the local poors. Ilhan Omar's daughter was described as throwing food at people as if they were seagulls.

SapphireCasino · 26/03/2026 16:29

I've heard references to the Cuba thing, but I kind of couldn't believe it. Is Owen Jones there? And is that really what they're doing?

There are some very sinister forces at play. And also very weird ones.

how are the patients? @justasking111 @DameProfessorIDareSay

I'm embarrassed to say, I'm feeling surprisingly crap after having my tooth out. I mean, it's a tooth 🤷🏻‍♀️ but now I understand why people said you might well feel crap for a week afterwards. Apparently day three is likely to be the worst.

i'm also embarrassed to say, I can't seem to read any more! On one hand, I feel like I ought to do something about that. On the other hand, I think well, if you don't want to - you don't want to.

I've still got some unread books from back in the day when I was a reader. I have heard that it's quite common for people to get less interested in fiction as they get older. I was debating reading one of Richard Sennett's books - "The Craftsman" was recommended by an artist friend.

I see he's got loads of work, but his lectures on YouTube didn't look great. Or maybe that's just my mind today?

that was another random deviation from the thread 😂 I haven't really been keeping up with politics. You can leave it for a few days and the level of madness doesn't change!

SapphireCasino · 26/03/2026 16:31

Wouldn't you get punched if you wandered round Cuba telling people that the regime was wonderful?

@SapphireCasino . Poor you - yes I remember feeling grim for several days after some invasive dental work. Also, the dentist recommended paracetamol and ibroprofen which was pretty ineffective but luckily dh had some stronger painkillers left over from an operation.
Hope you feel better soon!

DameProfessorIDareSay · 26/03/2026 16:37

Oh @SapphireCasino sympathy for the tooth. It is surprising how it knocks you about so don’t be shy with the painkillers.

I have done an hour in the garden today, just potting up some things and general poking about. No walking aids needed, it’s good to be back on my own two feet again and I am taking it steady. I think this is the first day I haven’t needed a nap! Thanks for asking and hope @justasking111 is recovering well too.

As to politics, DH and I seem to spend most days saying ‘WTF? Have you seen/heard/read this?!’ to each other dozens of times a day 😁

38thparallel · 26/03/2026 16:41

Wouldn't you get punched if you wandered round Cuba telling people that the regime was wonderful?

You’d have thought so, but I guess they were heavily guarded and presumably the Cuban people are too scared of the security forces to argue with them.
Id love to know what they thought of the Kneecap member who wandered around in an Irish flag balaclava - not the most practical gear for the tropics.
