A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

We already have 3 freezers! 😬 I thought the Strait was meant to be opened? I think I've missed something somewhere!

Pacificsunshine · 16/04/2026 13:00

I hesitate to fill up the freezer. If we have electricity blackouts, it would all be ruined.

TheNuthatch · 16/04/2026 13:14

Good point Pacific. Didn't think of that.
Two freezers here Fluffy.

I'll* *have to buy one of Red Ed's illegal solar panels from Lidl to keep them running. We get lots of sun in the NW of England - honest. 🤥

DH has been banging on about buying a generator and I am beginning to come around to his way of thinking now you have all reminded me how much expensive food I could lose!

It’s either that or a big hamster wheel for the dogs...😳

SapphireCasino · 16/04/2026 14:06

I haven't got the space to store anything

I have told Mum that she should stock up, get a chest freezer, get a generator - told her this ages ago. She won't have any of it.
I get told off every time I try and store extra food there so it's just not worth it.

Anyway. The gay asylum seeker story has been well known for ages. Another case of the BBC reporting something people already know. Suella Braverman got called a racist or whatever for raising this issue a few years back.

it's possible that some people who weren't listening to reality the last few years will listen because it's the BBC. But it's also possible that they will just decide that the BBC is too right wing.

DameProfessorIDareSay · 16/04/2026 14:14

Yes the fake asylum seekers have been raised for years, usually by Conservatives who have, as you say @SapphireCasino been called racist bigots. If you make it easier to do something (like get asylum) by claiming to be something you are not, the number of people claiming that thing will increase!

It is rather ironic the BBC doing this, as they have been very much on the side of those who say men will not pretend to be something else in order to get what they want, e.g. why would a man say he is a woman just to get access to women and children when they are vulnerable or undressed? Well, duh...

I do wonder what utopia these people live in, where they have never met anyone who will lie and manipulate others to get what they want. It must be very pleasant on that planet.

TheNuthatch · 16/04/2026 16:20

Mandelson failed vetting. Starmer has repeatedly blamed the vetting system for his appointment - all lies.

Further documents are due to be released. However, it can also be revealed that senior government officials have been considering whether to withhold from parliament documents that would reveal that Mandelson was not given vetting approval from security officials.

Revealed: Mandelson failed vetting but Foreign Office overruled decision

Love Kemi's X post from the DM article. She's right to accuse Starmer of misleading the house.

I'd like to say unbelievable, but this Government has form for what is basically corruption.

StatuteofLiberty · 16/04/2026 17:15

I've said before and I'll say it again ,starmers actions ,comments about women can be women without a cervix, his treatment of rose dufflied and everything else tells me he either doesn't get or care or understand women's issues.
Therefore mandlesons association with Jeff wouldnt have deeply resonated with him .had Jeffs biggest crimes been racism or right wing etc he's all on board.

So now are are rumbling towards food shortages , 6.weeks of jet fuel in Europe and diseaseal shortages in coming and all our politicians are doing is moaning along with the rest of us

No bloody plan or action.

Surely resignation level?

Surely.

I won’t hold my breath though.

True.
Starmer is running out of people to sack for his own mistakes. Lammy was Foreign Sec at the time. Will he be next? Or will Starmer do the right thing and resign? Not likely!

Labour MPs know that it will likely be Rayner or Milliband next if they get rid of bollard.

Its definitely resignation level, but this is Labour. They have different rules to everyone else.

Yes their hypocrisy is off the scale.

TheNuthatch · 16/04/2026 17:36

What do we think the next set of bullshit will be?

Starmer was not told that Mandy failed security vetting (even though he's the feckin PM)?

Lammy had no idea that the department he ran overruled the failed vetting (and he got promoted to deputy PM for keeping his gob shut)?

This shows how desperate they were to try and manage trump

All this was over looked or pushed to the side to get someone they thought could handle trump in
And trump said he had no idea who he was 😂

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 16/04/2026 18:11

He won't resign.

They might hang out Lammy to dry but Starmer won't.

TheNuthatch · 16/04/2026 18:22

Leaders of Conservatives, Lib Dems and Reform all calling for Starmer to resign.

OP posts:
Hurryandwait · 16/04/2026 18:31

Surely KS will flounder on til he gets booted in May? He and reeves etc clearly hoping this Iran war anti Trump stance is going to change minds in their favour…looking at the SNP doing a near clean sweep in Scotland because of the vote splintering across cons/lab/lib/green/reform and them winning many seats with 70 percent plus voting for different parties…

I don't remember her name, but the person who previously had the job was doing it well. So Starmer got rid.
