A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The world’s not getting any saner is it?
Trump seems to be reading the telegraph - Matt cartoon today with a sign to ‘pick your own’ North Sea oil, and trump and hesgeth now saying that they don’t need to defend the straits and we can buy American or send the navy…

did you ever think you’d see this come to pass…I don’t like the ww2 analogies but it is definitely starting to feel like a version of 1938….

Our health board will not accept private consultants letters, x-ray, scan or diagnosis when it's proferred as evidence to them. It's totally ignored.

That is ridiculous! Utterly wastefu and inefficient. Typical public sector spite. Should be called out.

TheNuthatch · 31/03/2026 14:47

Karl Turner has had the Labour whip suspended for 'recent conduct', aka calling for a u-turn on scrapping jury trials.
He has posted on X that he was was not informed, and found out via the media. This is supposedly one of Starmer's good friends.

Has it been posted here on here that Labour are now 4th in the latest yougov poll?

Although according to another thread this is in fact victory for Labour because there would be a hung parliament on these results & they would be able to form a coalition with the Greens, Lib Dems, SNP, Plaid Cymru and the Monster Raving Loony party and this would give the left a majority over Reform and the Tories.

Bless them.

Hurryandwait · 31/03/2026 15:00

Gosh, a left wing coalition of ‘all the talents’ enticing…

Ah thats bad. I’ve liked him since that podcast. Sad about that. He’s right too.

What’s not to like?

SpaceRaccoon · 31/03/2026 15:13

I thought we could limp through to the end of Labour's tenure with moderate damage only. Unfortunately due to to international events, I feel like the damage might be rather more than moderate.
Plus what if we get a leftist coalition after?

Unlikely I would think, the various factions of left can’t stand each other so it would be a total marriage of convenience but likely won’t happen.

I think the fact he is willing to appear on so-called ‘right wing’ radio and tv channels is the more likely reason but they won’t admit that. He isn’t afraid to criticise Starmer and the cabinet so he has had a target on his back for a while.
(He also defends them when he thinks they are doing things right).

I quite enjoy his contributions, certainly better than the absolute frothing loonies of the left who are usually willing to go on the ‘evil' GB News and Talk Radio 🤑

Yep they will be more of a mess than the factions of Labour are now.

Hurryandwait · 31/03/2026 15:44

Also, bad times punish the status quo - three more years of ‘those with the broadest shoulders’ - and we’ll all be so happy we’ll vote for more
of the same? I’d be surprised

I don't always agree with Karl Turner, but I like him a lot. He is spot on when he talks about where Labour have gone wrong. If Starmer had listened to him, Labour wouldn't be 4th in the polls.
Perhaps calling McSweeney 'McSwindle' after the alleged phone theft was the final straw. 😂

Same here was brilliant in that podcast. Love McSwindle 😂

I probably don’t agree with all his policies but he was right on VAT and jury trials.

Karl Turner is an old fashioned style Labour MP. You may not agree with him on some policies but you know he has the best interests of 'all' his constituents at heart. He also is prepared to resign or get sacked, if he fundamentally disagrees with the Whip's demands. This, is unlike the vast majority of the other '400' or so Labour MP's whose greatest fear seems to be future employment if not an MP.

I seem to have been 'sanctioned' again some words do seem to trigger those that monitor this site.. It is a mystery why opinions can sanction a response from moderators, yet on other threads when a pile on a poster is evident, the moderators stand by and don't intervene..

Agree on Turner. He's the type of Labour person that I recognise amongst my friends and family. Not the politics of envy and spite that we get with Starmer & Co.

Mn don't monitor, so your post would have been reported by one of our ever present lurkers. I don't know why it warranted a deletion though. 🤷‍♂️
It's happening a lot recently.

Three quarters of Brits think that Karl Turner was right on the phone theft according to a More In Common poll.

Only 75%?!
