Not a dicky bird.

The border chief quits after 18 months. I remember thinking when Labour made a big hoo ha over the role that he’d regret taking it.

Impossible with Labour’s policies.

Wasn't he working remotely from Finland?

Good grief. He had an impossible job with this lot in govt. He was pushing for a deterrent.
Always someone else's fault with Starmer.

Yep it’s not a surprise. The policies are not going to work.

Not sure @justasking111

He’s probably fully aware the warmer weather is about to bring in more and wants out before that.

Maybe, just maybe, the responses to you were prickly because your tone was off! 🤷‍♀️

Or maybe, just maybe, your responses were a disproportionate overreaction ! 🤷‍♀️

Naaah. I'd just check your tone in future when you're going clod hopping into a thread which has a long-standing community.

I seem to remember that in the run up to the election Starmer announced he’d create a ‘Border Force Command’ led by a ‘Commander’. How very imposing, how very powerful. Is this the man who’s just resigned?

Pathetic. Typical meaningless Starmer Labour soundbite nonsense.

Oh yes it went with the ‘elite border force’. PR soundbite nonsense. No wonder he quit.

TheNuthatch · 21/03/2026 08:39

Good morning. Another gorgeous day here. 😁

Ah yes, I remember the nonsense spouted Denizen. I don't envy the next 'commander'. Labour MPs are already on the warpath, especially after Rayner’s attack on Mahmood's plans.

So after Starmer falsely accused Badenoch of a u turn on air bases (instead of answering PMQs about fuel duty), he has now u turned, and adopted Badenoch's position on the use of air bases.
She has described it as "the mother of all u turns", which were his words to her in the HoC. Touché.

Right so he doesn’t even have that anymore. He’ll still bristle and insult through PMQs, shake too probably.

He just keeps handing open goals to her!

ComradeAmoeba · 21/03/2026 09:32

UK bases are already being used to strike Iranian sites targeting British allies/interests in Gulf states. Now that is extended to striking Iranian missile launchers targeting commercial vessels in the strait of Hormuz.

I am not sure Starmer has made the right decision or not, but it is not the "mother of all u-turns". Badenoch needs something to distract from her bigotry of the last few days, I suspect.

He’ll near explode at PMQs when asked on this.

He’ll shake, shout Kemi is irrelevant like any good weakened bully. I hope she calmly calls him out and says I notice you resort to insults when losing control.

More material for Kemi at next week's PMQs; more swerves from Starmer incoming.

You don't think Starmer has changed his position? Really? I count 3. 😂
This is an anti-Labour thread btw.

What ‘bigotry’ is this then? Evidence?

It’s called Labour isn’t Working. There is the opposite version in chat which is pro Starmer / Labour.

Yes, this and ‘smash the gangs’ is complete nonsense. Starmer knows perfectly well that as the law stands today there is nothing he nor anyone else can stop refugees and asylum seekers.
Why does he not admit this? Does he genuinely think people believed all that ‘smash the gangs’ and ‘elite border force’ stuff would make any difference?

Labour is a bit too right-wing for me atm tbh.

JaneV1984Madness · 21/03/2026 10:12

@DancingFerret for me one line in particular stood out when she was robustly challendged at a business forum in Aberdeen about North sea gas and she said talk with respect km the chancellor
