Blimey! He doesn't hold back does he.
Interesting that means testing benefits (WFA) was always her position.

Hunt sees her alone in her office in No 11. They speak a lot,' reveals one source.
The Labour lot won't like that. 😂

JaneV1984Madness · 21/03/2026 10:20

@TheNuthatch hunt always visiting her was one my one ray of light.

He definitely doesn't hold back, but based on the last 20 months it would be hard to disbelieve anyfhing he's written.

JaneV1984Madness · 21/03/2026 10:30

They are in deep deep merde...obviously she hasn't got anyone remotely sensible to canvas ideas with within her own party !

We are facing down a financial Armageddon far far worse then COVID with 6 form student politics .

JaneV1984Madness · 21/03/2026 10:31

Then starmer gets chucked out ,Raynor comes in and all we can do is pray

Labour is a bit too right-wing for me atm tbh.

Tbf there are likely some who feel the same on the other version of this type of thread.

Rayner as PM and Torsten Bell as Chancellor?

JaneV1984Madness · 21/03/2026 10:49

@DancingFerret and the Uk in the worst trouble it will have ever been in

Well I for one welcome you, comrade. I’m always partial to a heckler.

But please don’t start saying that Starmer is a ‘safe pair of hands, ‘a grown up, ‘solid’ etc. Starmer’s so obviously a talentless flip-floppy fool, and an unpleasant one, that no good will come of misrepresenting him, here or on any other thread.

Where do you stand on a change of PM if the May locals are a bloodbath for Labour? He’ll have to go, surely? And if so who’s your pick to replace him?

I think he probably will have to go after May, yes. Although if the war is still going on maybe that will be used as an argument for him to stay? I can see that happening. I really have no idea who should replace him, so don't have a pick.

Thank you. Bit non-committal for someone to the left of the present government, but fair enough.

My picks are Angela Rayner or David Lammy: smart as whips, alpha minds, unwavering in their beliefs and true to their principles, two giants of modern politics.

Now, now. Retract those claws!

I think the problem is the calibre of politicians generally at the moment is not high across all parties. If I had to pick someone it might be Al Carns.

Maybe there's an opening for a 'left of Labour' thread as well?

Sarcasm doesn't become you, but I totally agree.

I just can’t take those two, and a variety of other Labour figures, seriously. I think it’s their eye-popping hypocrisy that does it for me.

But I am genuinely interested in who Labour supporters think should replace Starmer. If we’re down to Carns, who’s only been an MP for 20 months, there must be little to choose from for the most powerful job in the land.

DameProfessorIDareSay · 21/03/2026 11:45

DameProfessorIDareSay · 21/03/2026 09:45

What ‘bigotry’ is this then? Evidence?

Did you miss my question @ComradeAmoeba ?

EasternStandard · 21/03/2026 11:53

ComradeAmoeba · 21/03/2026 09:32

UK bases are already being used to strike Iranian sites targeting British allies/interests in Gulf states. Now that is extended to striking Iranian missile launchers targeting commercial vessels in the strait of Hormuz.

I am not sure Starmer has made the right decision or not, but it is not the "mother of all u-turns". Badenoch needs something to distract from her bigotry of the last few days, I suspect.

Kemi’s ‘bigotry’?

I think the other thread is a good fit. They create anything to distract from how badly Starmer and Labour are doing.

Yes I missed it. I think it is obvious? Her endorsement of Timothy's, Farage's and Robinson's views on the Iftar in Trafalgar Square.

I actually agree with your second paragraph. Which is why maybe fresh blood is needed.

Anyway, pps makes it clear I am not welcome on this thread. But I enjoyed chatting with you, even though we don't agree on much!

I'm also genuinely interested in his replacement - and also terrified because the line-up is dire (as all of us know).

No, not obvious. Where did she endorse Farage’s and Robinson’s views?
She backed her shadow justice secretary who expressed perfectly legitimate views.

The BBC reported:
"But speaking at an event to launch her party's campaign for May's local elections in England, Badenoch said her "fantastic" frontbench colleague Nick Timothy had been trying to make a point about the "norms of British culture".
Claiming that women at the event had been "pushed to the back," she said the gathering had been "exclusionary".
"It is about how religion is expressed in a shared public space, and whether those expressions fit within the norms of British culture, " she added.
In a BBC interview after the event, she went on to add: "I think that we need to look at exactly why and how it happened in that space.
"We already have loads of planning rules to say what events can go on, and which ones cannot. I don't think that that was one that should have gone on. So let's look at the rules that allowed that to happen."
Asked why she had mentioned the place of women when this had not featured in Timothy's original criticism of the event, she replied: "My position has been very clear, and very consistent.
"We need to bring back British values. We need to make sure that we enforce British identity.”"

Our culture, whether you are religious or not, is not one of ‘pushing women to the back’.
