Marking my place.

MadMunchkin · 14/02/2026 11:32

Any room for a new recruit?

I have M.E. which is currently quite bad. Not helped by a particularly stressful week during which my former (violent) partner was sent to prison. It brought back a lot of memories and feelings I'd buried.

Today is a day of bedrest to try and restore some much needed energy.

On a brighter note, the sun is at last shining (yes really!) and I can see it from the comfort of my bed.

MewithME · 14/02/2026 11:37

Hey @MadMunchkin absolutely...in you come...<pats the big sofa and hands you an eye mask, foot stool and heatpad...and noise cancelling headphones 😁>

That is bound to stir up some feelings. There's a massive MEcfs and trauma overlap. I find it hard some days not to sit and resent my exh because it doesn't help!

The sun is shining, yes. That's good to see and feel isn't it? In sat on my comfy chair downstairs with coffee 2 and thinking about whether some fresh air would be good or foolhardy!

Thanks for the comfy seat and accessories.

I've had M.E. for 40+years and for 30 of those I managed OK. I just adapted and got on with it.
I used to be so resilient to stress. I had a corporate job, responsibilities, kids etc and ploughed on through everything.

Then discovered my Husband was unsupportive- divorced him.
New partner, narcissist and violent- finally found the strength to ditch him too.
Numerous family bereavements in quick succession.

At this point, my body just gave on me and I've not been able to get back to my previous baseline, though I'm still hopeful (most days).

Also hoping the spring will bring some renewed energy and a vitamin D top up.

Welcome @MadMunchkin have some flowers 💐

Thanks @MewithME for the new thread 🙂

Yes, it is nice to see the sunshine today, it’s such a welcome relief

CoffeeBeansGalore · 14/02/2026 12:51

Afternoon, just found this thread. Any more room on the sofa?
Gorgeous sunny day with me. Bit of snow from yesterday still in the garden & ruddy freezing. But so nice to see the sun. It's been MIA for too long!

Hedjwitch · 14/02/2026 12:59

Another one enjoying the sun. Managed a short walk in the nearby woods. This afternoon I have the luxury of a massage. Its all about self love this Valentines Day.

Thread 6? Good grief..what are you up to today if you have chronic illness?

A warm welcome to @MadMunchkin and @CoffeeBeansGalore - so pleased you found us! @MewithME has a magic extending sofa and always keeps the kettle on the boil ☕

MewithME · 14/02/2026 15:07

I've been out!

The sunshine was too tempting. I had a coffee and some cake and looked at the view. Nearby country park. Bought a few treats at the shop for telly watching time (which is pretty much the rest of the weekend).

I am shattered now but it was worth it. Fresh air and sunshine was wonderful

Welcome @CoffeeBeansGalore you are most welcome...what with my endless kettle boiling and your coffee beans galore, we're a good match 😁 (waves to @TeaAndStrumpets )

Thanks for the new thread and welcome to our cosy sofa @CoffeeBeansGalore & @MadMunchkin with comfy throws, heat pads and a warm cuppa for all.

Yay for some sunshine today 👏
I managed a little sit in the garden making sure Dippy dog didn’t make a break for it again. She was very naughty yesterday!

@MewithME so pleased you got out and your outing sounds perfect.

@Hedjwitch what gorgeous photos 🦢

Stressybetty · 14/02/2026 16:22

Lovely photos @Hedjwitch
@MewithME thanks for the new thread and glad you enjoyed getting out.
Welcome new posters! This is definitely a nice safe non judgemental part of Mumsnet.
Actually got up at a reasonable time today and after letting the dogs out I didn't go back to bed.
Fed dogs, sorted out MIL, did washing up and cleaned hob.
Then tea and toast on sofa and watched the take that documentary on Netflix.
DH is up now so have got back in bed for a warm and will get dressed and sort our washing.
@FurForksSake hope you are ok, I've been on a phased return to work before and on disciplinaries for too much sick. It's a horrible feeling. Wishing you support and the strength to get through the next few weeks.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 14/02/2026 16:35

Thank you for the welcomes. This seems like a cosy corner to chill 😊. I currently have dd & dgd with me this afternoon. Dh is out sorting out a dodgy wheel after hitting a pot hole the size of a small meteor crater.
We have hot chocolate & digestives on the go. A nice gentle afternoon.

FurForksSake · 14/02/2026 16:47

I opened the kiln by the way, Brigid came through and this handle free mug (beaker, not penis) looks like it has been successful. I need to glaze it now, but I made this!

That is so clever @FurForksSake here's to many pots in the future!

JewelleryCat · 14/02/2026 17:56

That’s really good @FurForksSake

Stressybetty · 14/02/2026 17:58

@FurForksSakethats gorgeous, so professional! Probably would fit a penis in there though!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 14/02/2026 18:09

@FurForksSake I like that!

i feel like I should paint one on it to be a true mumsnetter.

I’ll post a picture once I’ve glazed it, that bit I find really tricky to get even, but nothing to lose!

FurForksSake · 14/02/2026 18:13

Thanks guys, 🥹🥹

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/02/2026 18:49

Helped move an empty filing cabinet, which has set off my costochondritis. It wasn't heavy, just an awkward stretch. I always panic about chest pain but so far I'm still alive!

We are clearing the study and the stuff is filling the house. The word "declutter" is not in DH's vocabulary. Decades of cramming all his stuff into one room makes it difficult to even walk in, but we are beginning to see the floor now. The garage is similar. Oh how I would love a minimalist house!

Orangesandlemons77 · 14/02/2026 20:19

Place marking. Have a fire and watching gladiators with DH and DS while we eat dinner.

MIL here earlier managed to escape to bed and been in it since apart from a bath.

I was not feeling like a proper dinner so just had a healthy cup soup with toast and then some yoghurt and fruit 🍓

DoAWheelie · 14/02/2026 20:37

Starting to feel a bit more normal after last week's dental surgery. I have massive anxiety around dental stuff and a lot of sensory issues with food/textures so it was rough even with the sedation. I've been semi-dissociated all week but I'm feeling more awake and grounded again now.

Treating myself to a McDonald's for dinner as I feel pathetic cooking for one on v-day.

Dozymoo42 · 14/02/2026 22:06

Hi all am I ok to join? Diagnosed on Friday with fibromyalgia and ME .

Feeling a little shell shocked and not sure where to begin with everything! Looking back it looks like I have had ME for quite a while but pushed through, an extremely stressful couple of years peaked in December with me experiencing what I assume was a crash. Luckily I have insurance with work so managed get checked privately quite quickly.

So now here I am would appreciate any words of wisdom you guys have.

Stressybetty · 14/02/2026 22:19

Welcome @Dozymoo42 must be such a shock for you.
Safe gentle chat here

Ihad2Strokes · 14/02/2026 22:32

Hi all, I tend to dip in & out of threads.

its been a year now since the strokes, ive had a lot of health issues this year. Waiting for Endocrinology appointment (for general mixed medicine help & possible parathyroid issue). Unfortunately been getting more & more 'unwell' this year. GO advised ne ti try magnesium, but unfortunately gave me vertigo 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

not sleeping at night, most nights literally not at all, with the occasional night if on & off.

I try not to sleep in the day, but today i did, so it's been a complete write off.🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

i wanted to go out & enjoy the sunshine, but just couldn't. Hoping next week forecast sun comes to something 🤞🏼

glad some of you managed to get out into it!!💕
