@Oioiqueen sorry you had a rough night, I hope tonight is better.

The sunshine has been lovely today - wandered round the garden and took a few photos.

Robot hoover is here and has hoovered the living room and mopped the kitchen. Pretty impressed so far. The one cat who came downstairs was puzzled, and then ran away when it headed in her direction!

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/02/2026 19:40

I did a silly thing. I had the house to myself today. Sat on the sofa with a midmorning bowl of soup, piping hot, on a tray. Turned to adjust my cushion, off slid the soup. I saw it go in slow motion, ended up all over my bare feet. Did all the first aid stuff but 111 sent me off to A &E where I sat for 4 hours. It's just hell on earth in there but I think A & E is always bad. Anyway, had my blisters trimmed off ugh and bandaged, I'm back on Thursday to have it all looked at.

There's always bloody something! I just feel so stupid. I intend some peace and quiet tomorrow, my heart rate is still high and I can feel the adrenaline in my chest.

Hedjwitch · 17/02/2026 20:01

Phone @TeaAndStrumpets that sounds very painful, and what a drag waiting in A&E. Poor you!
My recent flare has finally receded and I am back to being a normal human today. DS says its like I'm two different people..fibromum and nonfibromum. It's nice to feel some relief, long may it last( and sorry if I sound smug. I dont mean to!)

TodayIsatrickyone · 17/02/2026 20:08

Oh you poor thing @TeaAndStrumpets that sounds painful and one of those accidents where you could kick yourself afterwards but these things happen so don’t feel silly.
Im so sorry you had a horrible wait in A & E on top ( I feel your pain) and hope the adrenaline settles and you can get some sleep tonight.

TodayIsatrickyone · 17/02/2026 20:10

@Hedjwitch not smug at all! It’s fabulous that you had a more normal day today and hope you made the most of it.

JewelleryCat · 17/02/2026 20:55

Oh no @TeaAndStrumpets do you have anyone there that can look after you?

Dozymoo42 · 17/02/2026 21:23

Evening all 😊 bed early for me tonight with a nice cup of tea and a scroll on MN. Trying hard to do things differently 🤞
@TeaAndStrumpets my gosh that sounds painful hope it heals well for you.
@TheNameWasOnceChosen well done on your gym progress !

Thanks it was all right in the end. My DD rang and I told her I was sitting in the bathroom with my feet in cool water and she offered to come over (lives 40 minutes away). I put the phone down and just burst into tears with relief. I had been very practical and stoic up to that point but when someone is sympathetic it ruins the stiff upper lip I find! She called her friend who lives nearer to me and she arrived first, with gel dressings which really helped. I am about to send her some flowers....she hardly knows me but was just so kind.

DH got here after I phoned him and he took me to A and E where he stood for 4 hours because there were so few seats. So many people had all their family with them!

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/02/2026 21:25

Many many thanks for all the kind messages on here! Xxx

Stressybetty · 17/02/2026 23:24

@TeaAndStrumpets so sorry, what a horrible thing to happen.
Hope you can rest and get over the shock in the next few days.
Lovely of your DD friend to come and help.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/02/2026 00:43

Thanks @Stressybetty can't sleep so have just sent daughter's friend some flowers via Bloom and Wild...it was actually very soothing browsing their website! Sent some to DD too, she's had pneumonia and still isn't well.

I've been looking at burns anecdotes on MN and it is reassuring how fast burns heal if not too large. Fingers crossed!

martha79 · 18/02/2026 07:14

Oh gosh @TeaAndStrumpets that sounds scary and painful. I hope it heals up quickly.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 18/02/2026 08:21

@TeaAndStrumpets So sorry to read that. Hope your feet are feeling a bit better this morning. Take it easy & accept any pampering offered. Your dd & friend sound lovely.

I had a very early night and actually slept. Feeling human again!

MewithME · 18/02/2026 08:50

Hello all. I haven't been keeping up. Working my socks off with a deadline and trying not to go over the edge. It's half term juggling too. Downside, I get less rest during the day and it's really hard. Upside, I'm not dressed yet and should be at my desk in a few minutes. I woke up and then had a nap 🤭

Hope you are all as ok as you can be. Will catch up later

Juggling work deadlines and half term sounds like a challenge @MewithME

Lovely idea to send flowers @TeaAndStrumpets and I hope you can rest, rest, rest today. I found after A & E last week it took a while for the adrenaline to settle and I was able to sleep. Hope today is calmer and the burns heal fast.

@CoffeeBeansGalore sleep makes such a difference doesn’t it!

I also slept well though still not really fully back to baseline after last week’s fainting/ dizziness/ crash! Better than I was though so I’ll take that. Have got my appointment through at the cardiac clinic for next week so that’s reassuring at least.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/02/2026 10:30

Thanks @TodayIsatrickyone managed to sleep for a miracle and not in much pain today. Back to the hospital in the morning to have the dressing looked at. I have an RSV vaccination booked tomorrow but that should be quick..so I'll rest eventually!

Hope your cardiac appointment goes OK.

JewelleryCat · 18/02/2026 11:54

How are you feeling after yesterday @TeaAndStrumpets?

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/02/2026 12:01

Thanks much better! Just need to find some comfy shoes for tomorrow. I went to A & E with gel dressings covered in cling film, wearing a pair of those cotton hotel slippers. It was quite cold underfoot!

Oioiqueen · 18/02/2026 12:07

@TeaAndStrumpets gosh that sounds scary I can see why the adrenaline was going. Glad it doesn't seem too bad today for you.

I went down half asleep for breakfast this morning to find water pouring into the kitchen. One emergency plumber now done but whilst it's not too bad I'm quite upset. I've spent months last year decorating downstairs before my diagnosis to how we wanted it. Three rooms with water damage that'll need drying out, sanding the walls and repainting.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/02/2026 12:08

I'm sure they see all sorts in A & E, once I had to take DH in his dressing gown at midnight, after a bladdder op, when the catheter blocked. By the time he saw the doctor it had unblocked itself. He blamed my driving! Said I found every pothole en route and we should have just gone for a drive in the countryside 😗

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/02/2026 12:10

@Oioiqueen Oh no that is awful! After all your hard work too. Can you claim on insurance?

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/02/2026 12:25

I must admit we've got a suspiciously different patch on our sitting room ceiling, caused by a shower leak years ago. It had been one of those not-quite-white, hint of a tint paint colours and we couldn't remember which one. In the end we went for the nearest out of our collection of part used paint tins and brazened it out. You can only see it in certain lights, and our ceilings are high.

At least you know what colour yours is @Oioiqueen ! I have been in such agonies deciding on colours for our new house I'm going for one colour throughout. Boring but safe!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 18/02/2026 12:35

@Oioiqueen Oh my! Not what you want to wake up to.
Hope you find some warm comfy footwear. Would you get away with some slipper boots with a hard sole?

I just had lunch and caught up with the thread. I would dearly love a lie down but I think I am going to do the unthinkable and power through. I know I know...it's not good but I just need to shut my brain off and get my job done. I'll rest as much as I can later. 😭

Sodding deadline and other people not pulling their weight. Grr.

Shopping has been delivered and DS is out with his Dad so if I can get finished at a decent time I will have a proper in bed rest.

The sheets desperately need changing and there's mountains of laundry. It's all too hard on my own with work. It's not meant to be like this for anyone I don't think. I grew up in a traditional house. Dad worked. Mum did the home and part time work for Dad. Id also left home by the time my mum was menopausal! So this is my little grrrr...sigh....woe is me ... indulgence. Single parent.. autistic child ..crap ex.... MEcfs... menopause..... Full on job ...moan whinge.

Right ... onwards!
