A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Leaked by the police, whom in the police?

What I find amusing is - Mandy was bang to rights over Epstein, and may/may not have been planning to do a runner to the BVI. That’s it.

I can’t imagine he has many mates left - evidently not in the US State Dept, nor within the Met, so he and his lawyers cannot feign surprise at being shanked.

Starmer meanwhile continues to looks utterly shit in all of this.

Leaked by the police, whom in the police?

I don't think the Met or Mandy's lawyers have specified who exactly. More details in this article:
The BBC understands that Lord Mandelson's lawyers were twice told by the police that information about his alleged travel plans had been passed on by Lord Forsyth, the Speaker of the House of Lords. On Tuesday evening, Lord Forsyth denied any involvement after he was initially reported as the source of the referral, calling the suggestion "entirely false and without foundation".On Wednesday, The Times then reported the information had in fact been shared by Sir Lindsay. Shortly afterwards, the Commons Speaker made a statement to MPs confirming he had given "relevant" information to the force. He told MPs he had done this "in good faith", considering it to be his "duty and responsibility"."It is regrettable this rapidly ended in the media," he added.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8d5792yj9qo

Lord Mandelson being arrested at his London home on Monday - He has dark grey hair swept back, is wearing glasses, and has a serious look on his face as he walks away from his house

Met apologises to Commons Speaker for sharing Mandelson tip-off

It comes after Sir Lindsay Hoyle confirmed he gave information to the force suggesting the peer could be a flight risk.

I was thinking about Starmer’s amateur hour performances at PMQs and increasingly think he’s written his own political death warrant already.

Even if Labour holds Gorton - and I think they well might - I suspect the Labour backbenches will worry about their jobs (on the basis that working for unions, NGOs and charities is not a world they want to return to) come the next GE.

When it comes to UK government decisions the PM’s profile and charisma do matter. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can rescue Starmer’s sewer-level political reputation. And he has no personality or charm. None. PMQs just showcases his uselessness and lack of appeal.

And this is all without the May locals.

Labour having a tantrum over betting odds showing Greens ahead in G&D.

Starmer has definitely written his own death warrant. His MPs probably want him gone asap as they know they've got zero chance with him at the helm. Its when, not if.

Good. It’s only a couple on here banging his drum for him.

He’s desperate and losing it. The Greens are right, Labour is flapping around, they’re all over the place.

Pointofsingularity · 25/02/2026 18:57

Must confess, I would be happy to see the Green rabble hand Labour their rear end tomorrow.

In a straight fight, I would hold my hooter and vote for them over Labour.

Same. Just to get them bristling.

I wonder whether some of the voters in G&D will recall Starmer’s comments during his Sky News interview in October 2023.

Of course, he was asked whether Israel had the right to cut off power and water to Gaza and said “I think that Israel does have that right.”

Have they got a chance with anyone else? I doubt it!

It’s interesting the IG posts have a lot of vote Green under any Labour post relevant to the by election and under a Starmer one on the drugs thing many saying he’s misrepresenting policy.

Labour are not fooling people that well.

Sir Keir Starmer must quit if the Greens win Thursday’s crucial by-election, the party’s candidate has said.

Hannah Spencer told The Telegraph that if she were to emerge victorious in Labour’s traditional stronghold of Gorton and Denton, it “has to be the end” for the Prime Minister as he would have “lost the trust of the people”….

…Ms Spencer said that while canvassing, she had not spoken to a single voter who liked the Prime Minister.

“We’ve knocked on thousands of doors, I haven’t come across one single voter, including those who say they will vote Labour, that likes the guy,” she said.

“Most just laugh and turn away when he’s brought up. They usually can’t even say why, it’s just a knowing laugh.

“It is definitely true that he is the most unpopular prime minister on record. I wonder how long it will take for Labour MPs to admit that he is a liability.”

I’m in two minds. I distrust anything said by a Green. But what Hannah Spencer has said is so obviously likely that it’s hard to think she’s fibbing. Starmer must go: it’s irresistible now.

A pox on both their houses.

(And a plague of locusts on Reform too.)

EasternStandard · 25/02/2026 20:25

The laughing thing is likely true. It’s come up with focus groups before.

She's not wrong there. It's one of the safest Labour seats. If they lose it, it will be Starmer's fault.
I'm hoping Labour come third or fourth. FABL 😁

True. I can't imagine Beavers running around in Gorton would help much either, but Labour seem desperate enough to try anything.

Now there's an image! That really made me laugh 😂

Then I picture @DameProfessorIDareSay dogs running around after them... I've forgotten what they were called...DelicateDog and what was the robust one called? Was it DurableDog?

To be honest, I have no idea why anyone is voting Green either. I really feel as if I've missed something. I am quite suspicious of the Greens tbh. But surely anyone who's paying attention doesn't link them up to any nature related issues.

looks like I've missed a whole bunch of madness while I've been too busy to look at things. It's just like a big pile of crazy every day.

They did used to genuinely be about environmentalism, including animal rights and nuclear disarmament. Those values were naturally accompanied by a generally left-wing world-view.

But the party has been taken over by specific interest groups which have really very different values. It's been so fast and such a power grab. The way that committed environmentalists - who had campaigned for decades - were cut off for being gender critical was quite breathtaking. The transformation has continued with pro-Gaza.

It really seems to me like the original Green party was predated by a parasite which wanted the camouflage of a long-running, well-known, and non-threatening host. Something quite different is now animating the dried-out husk of what was once the Green party - and I am deeply suspicious of its intentions.

JaneVtwaddle · 25/02/2026 22:26

Very well put.

I doubt the pre-dating of the parasite though. My view is that the Greens were originally an idealistic group of ex-hippies mixed with silly old fools who had no affection or attention in their lives so filled them with ‘love’ for foxes and baby seals.

The hippies formed the ideological part of the movement. Gaia and all that shit. The old fools - and some younger ones too, like the animal rights activist idiots - raised the money and went shouting on marches.

But more politically cynical types - the parasite - moved in and started to take over. These were and are left-wing. They want power, not just a movement. People like that need current social issues about humans to campaign about. So the parasite overcame the hippies and animal lovers and went for trans rights and antisemitism.

And here they are.

It is.

EmeraldRoulette · 25/02/2026 23:02

I see a couple of posters are on the same lines as me about what's happened to the Greens 👀

it's been since 2023ish hasn't it... I've seen a few posts from people who maybe caught a headline and suddenly realised that it's all different now.

But I would have thought people who are actually voting in an election will at least go online and have a look at what's on offer.

I would hope so anyway!

but their popularity suggests a higher level of bonkers in the population than I thought.

justasking111 · 25/02/2026 23:12

Mothin All drifted onto my radar a while ago. With all the pro Gaza furore. At first I was puzzled a green party leader? Took a while for the penny to drop I blush to admit.

A very dear friend of mine supported greenham common a few times when we both had young children. She was my idea of a green . Made her own clothes, grew her own food, amazing cook a real earth mother and a passionate teacher of SEN children.
