A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

'On track'? She must have used up 'further and faster'.

That wasn’t working even though she repeated it multiple times so now it’s just a track 😬

zurigo · 12/02/2026 09:59

On which track, that's what I'd like to know. One heading into a siding or right off a cliff?

Labour's policies simply aren't working. We have a stagnant economy. They are overtaxing the productive half of the economy to feed the unproductive half.

In another article today it is reported that Reeves is also retreating from plans to cut regulation.

Yep, that sums it up very succinctly!

Basically robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Paul will always vote for the party which keeps his unearned income rolling in every month, and power-hungry Labour are well aware of this.

Agree. A shame Labour don’t get it.

That delightful person, Sharon Graham, has just done a proper number on Labour.

They’re not catching any breaks, are they?

(Good).

Pacificsunshine · 12/02/2026 12:50

I was reflecting on Kier Starmer’s rise to power.

I think the electorate mistook “boring” for “serious.”

He is not competent or incisive or clear. He isn’t really serious. He doesn’t believe in much other than that he should be in charge.

EasternStandard · 12/02/2026 13:49

I love the phrase on manoeuvres, it goes particularly well with AR too.

As for Sharon Graham I hope that means no funding to Labour, that’ll be noted more than words.

They did suspend Angela Rayner last Summer.

They did suspend Angela Rayner last Summer.

Sure, but only after the DT scooped her.

Even then, she tried to wriggle.

I somehow doubt she was about to make an unprompted disclosure….

Yes, it goes well with ‘she has parked her tanks on Starmer’s lawn’.

Or inflatable dinghy, if you prefer.

DancingFerret · 12/02/2026 14:20

Starmer (and actually many of his ministers) is a gift to phraseology: I was discussing with a colleague him blowing his top at Ed Davey during PMQs and the response was, "He really went full tonto, didn't he?."

I can't remember the last time I heard that expression.

Upstartled · 12/02/2026 15:28

Bridget bloody Phillipson again 🤬 I hate this government.

Whereistheejectbutton · 12/02/2026 15:37

KS, RR ‘more to do’ and BP - they’re the worst…oh look, the only thing growing is the public spending investment they’ve done.

Upstartled · 12/02/2026 16:18

I just can't think what good she thinks she is doing by asking schools to be complicit in continuing to scaffold gender woo harm by instructing schools to use preferred pro-nouns and pretend that there are pink brains trapped in blue bodies and vice versa.

It makes about as much sense as telling teachers to collude with distorted distress of anorexics by calling them fatso.

And this whilst she's has decided that the ECHR declaration on same sex spaces don't count in workplaces 🤷🏼‍♀️

On a lighter note, Reeves is outraged that Streeting says she has no growth strategy. Meanwhile GDP per head is down again 🤣

EmeraldRoulette · 12/02/2026 16:41

Really sorry if I'm being thick, but can someone explain exactly what happened with Bridget Phillipson today? And does what she says have any validity? I am so confused.

Thank you.

The cabinet secretary has resigned. Rumoured for a few days now confirmed.

So today is the long awaited guidance on how schools should deal with gender dysphoria in school. There is more clarity about same sex spaces but it is delivered alongside support to social transitioning.

Maya Forstater hits the nail on the head when she says ... “Schools are still being left with the idea that they can facilitate ‘social transition’ – which remains undefined – and that they should negotiate this on a case-by-case basis.

“They are being encouraged to think that children have a ‘birth sex’ as well as some other concept of sex. This has no basis in law or reality, and undermines safeguarding.

“It should be clear by now that allowing children and parents to think that a child who starts their education as a girl can graduate as a boy or vice versa is a dangerous fairy tale.”

There'll be no-one left soon. Who will Keir blame then?

EmeraldRoulette · 12/02/2026 17:15

@Upstartled thank you for that

(I also saw something about single sex facility laws not applying to work places so I was wondering what was being discussed here).

Upstartled · 12/02/2026 17:20

Oh, yes. That too. There's a current thread in fwr.
