Beetroot! But that's basically all sugar. Dread to think how many calories in it! (and what it will do to your blood sugar levels.) Ought to be bannned by the sugar police.😝

Beetroot is about 8% sugar and is a beautiful, delicious vegetable that's very good for you. Quite acceptable for diabetics with a medium GI rating.

I had a crisp butty for my dinner today; salt and vinegar if anyone is interested.

Sorry it looks a bit of a mess to me. Not aesthetically pleasing. But i really don’t like broccoli so maybe that’s put me off.

I had bed of lambs lettuce. With stir fried lamb steak pak Choi, garlic ginger chilli. With Caesar salad and balsamic vinegar dressing. Now that was delicious.

Sorry - I missed the big salad humour :-) i took this as a recipe thread :-)

PigletJohn · 06/02/2026 17:47

It's got some white bits in it. I don't know if they chicken, or tofu, or cheese or something.

If not, it's the sort of thing I might eat while getting dinner ready.

100jamjars · 06/02/2026 18:00

I'd have to have some chips with that.

I had cheese and onion. So mine had a hint of veg.

IME a truly massive salad wont fit in any of your regular plates or bowls.....it has to be eaten from a mixing bowl!😁

Why ask? Eat what you like.
If you re a healthy weight, don't let anyone shame you, re: your portions.

Even if you aren’t a healthy weight don’t let anyone shame you re: your portions.

FlyMeToTheSpoon · 06/02/2026 18:10

Styrofoam? Just say you're a sea turtle murderer and leave it at that.

In seriousness, what were the crisps like? I live in an area that is 'yet to be gentrified' so we don't have middle class crisps and I'm intrigued. Are they hummus flavour, solid hummus in crisp form (somehow) or for dipping in hummus?

I think a lot of people on this thread need to look into the lore of the Mumnset Massive Salad and the magical never ending roast chicken…

We're still making soup from a chicken we roasted in 2018.

Waterwatereverywhere2026 · 06/02/2026 18:15

That? That is nothing…a mere starter!
I absolutely love an enormous salad. And yes, I eat it from a big serving bowl. And no, I’m not overweight.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 06/02/2026 16:10

I mean, it's fine I suppose but I hope you won't be needing to eat again today. How could anyone after eating all that?!

Maybe in a couple of days time you could have some pate, though...

Grin

Not too much pate, she’s already in danger of being morbidly obese eating salads that size. I think a single Ritz cracker with a mere smear of pate should keep OP going until March. I pity her arteries, sigh.

tuvamoodyson · 06/02/2026 18:44
salad anything GIF

Yes….

teaandtoastwouldbenice · 06/02/2026 18:45

That’s not massive - nice though

Soup? Well, that's a lot of calories but ok...

DaisyMayBojangles · 06/02/2026 20:04

The white bits were feta, the green splodges were pesto.

i actually had pasta for dinner.. with more cheese on it. And some chocolate.

Forgive me.

BunnyLake · 06/02/2026 20:06

The pesto would put me off. I’d put some mango chunks in it instead.

SnuggleReal · 06/02/2026 20:24

It's big but not massive. I think it looks bigger than it is because of the background/foreground thing. I think it would be filling because of the feta and pesto. That is a lot of pesto and pesto is very calorific. I think I'd have to stir that amount through, or it would be too strong. If it's got olive oil, it's healthy. I think you've got a good balance of healthy fats (if olive oil pesto), protein and vege content. Nothing to criticise about your salad and anyone who did can jog on.

MrFluffyDogIsMyBestFriend · 06/02/2026 20:40

Too big for me...I had 1.5 fish fingers and 3 chips earlier.

PevenseygirlQQ · 06/02/2026 20:43

Sweetpea333 · 06/02/2026 14:22

Ridiculous! That would feed me, DH who cycles 17 times a day, and my 2 strapping 6'5" rugby playing teenage sons for 2 days!

What an outing hobby, I know who your DH is now!

liveforsummer · 06/02/2026 20:50

No, that’s a side salad! 😆

🤣🤣🤣
A root vegetable that’s boiled in plain water, lol nothing added to it

WaryHiker · 06/02/2026 23:39

Well, you've had plenty of people rushing to tell you how many calories there must be in your meal, and how you both could and should replace the yummy parts of your meal with low calorie alternatives, OP, so I think your point is made!

Fun thread.

Each to their own but how can you possibly eat that much pesto?

Waterwatereverywhere2026 · 07/02/2026 00:18

BunnyLake · 06/02/2026 20:06

Mango? In a salad? What nonsense is this? Do you also allow pineapple on a pizza?? 🤮🤮🤮

DecisionTime123 · 07/02/2026 00:39

On MN ALL salads are massive.
