Button moon

I came across button moon last night on amazon prime and watched some with my 10 year old daughter. I loved that when I was little in the 80s. Dd really liked it too but kept on pointing out the men in that back (clearly visible) moving the puppets, wonder how that escaped me as a child 🤔. And then the spaceship for Mr spoon to go to button moon is actually a tin of heinz beans, tin of pink salmon and a funnel 🤣 brilliant!! Im going to watch some more tonight.

Anyone know of any other 80s cartoons available to bring back memories and laugh at things we didnt notice back then?.

I loved Button Moon!

It’s one of those that I often doubted ever existed as people would deny it have had.

Tots TV was very sophisticated with it's french vibe!
I've been racking my brains trying to remember the name of the programme with a green toy cat.
At the time 40 odd years ago I couldn't find a green cuddly toy cat anywhere and ended up knitting one for my then 2 year old son!
Anyone remember?

Ahhh Tots TV, sac magique!
Mind you I saw a comment once where someone said Tiny sounded like Rodney Trotter and that has dimmed a bit of the nostalgia magic.

Tales of the Riverbank, Bill and Ben, Andy Pandy...yes I am old! Anyone else remember these?

I mentioned the Get Along Gang upthread - I loved it! I remember getting a pair of Fisher Price adjustable skates and all the kids in our cul-de-sac decided to name ourselves after their characters to have our own Get Along Gang. I was Montgomery Moose and my sister was Woolma Lamb!

Oh that’s so nice to hear! It’s funny as I can’t remember the characters but I can still sing the theme/intro song. Because we had such little TV we’d record onto VHS and then watch the cartoons over and over again. Hence why the song is stuck in my head!

I loved Monkey, it was on BBC2 I think. I remember watching that and Harrold Lloyd which was black and white and he hung off a clock in the intro.

I am now blowing through my fingers a la Monkey and remembering Piggy and the princess in her white dress.

@TorroFerney 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I still blow through my fingers on occasion, my kids just think I'm losing it lol. Monkey travelling on his cloud 😂Love it. Glad someone else remembers it.

StrikeItMucky · 02/02/2026 20:42

@Devilsmommy I loved the Snorks too, it was one of my favourites. I still remember some of the lyrics to the theme tune! "Snork along, it's a Snorking celebration. Snork along, let's Snork a happy song..."
Here's a few more l remember and used to love watching as a kid:
Bod
The Flumps
The Perishers
Finger Bob and Finger Mouse
Tottie
Gideon the Goose
Jeremy/Barnaby Bear
The Moomins (The original)
Ulysses 31
Trumpton and Camberwick Green
Battle of the Planets
Why Don't You.
I also used to watch Terrahawks with my brothers but found some of the puppets quite creepy!

Theworldisupsidedown · 02/02/2026 20:52

Not quite as old but ‘The mysterious cities of gold’ loved it. I’m not sure if it ended. Tv cartoon ‘Dungeon and Dragons’

NailsForChristmas · 02/02/2026 21:17

I loved Roland the Rat.

My 2 year old loves my old Ivor the Engine books - I don't remember the TV show so may have to search that one out when we start allowing him TV time.

@Flannelfeet Yes I remember Mr Majeika. Was it Stanley Baxter? His hair want up and down?
I'm guessing you're a fellow Scot?

NooNakedJacuzziness · 02/02/2026 21:29

Anyone remember Ludwig, the egg that played the violin? I think some of the creators were definitely sniffing some weird substances
