I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

I've given up. You get a decent tax break for donations to charity shops, and even with theft /"shrinkage" taken into account it's worth removing all this hassle

I hear you. "I don't have any money till payday so can you hold them for me and sell privately". "This xyz is broken now" even though it's 1 month later, they clicked "everything is ok", and paid £2 for it.

Most people on there are great but there's the odd few. Also, and this is a "me problem", but I changed my settings to only use InPost, and the odd customer selects InPost home delivery which is so annoying as you actually have to print labels. I don't have a printer or access to one so I have to go to the library and pay 15p while I struggle to control my kid with learning disability (think that scene in "there she goes" where Rosie trashes the library) and everyone judges me just so I can print a label for a £2 jumper.

Last week they suspended me for four days still not sure why just a blah blah email about infringing their rules no sense made. then today they have done it to me again no posting items on there until the 4 feb. i do not believe it I mean is some buttons and a vintage pattern really so dangerous!

Doone22 · 01/02/2026 18:31

Tried it for first time this week. My item sold. I logged in to get postage details and it blocked my account immediately.
I don't have time for that kind of shit.
Poor lady, no idea if she even knows she's never getting it.

GrooveHeart · 01/02/2026 18:32

I've been an eBay seller for 18 years. I tried Vinted for 6 months but I'm back on eBay. I sell a lot better on there anyway and the buyers give me less hassle.

I've scrolled through 5 pages of jeans looking for a 10, there'll nearly all 8 so it was futile

I have the opposite and need an 8 and everything is a 10 🤣

Beatriz85 · 01/02/2026 18:34

I was really put off by the sizing change - its impossible to guess what size i should select when filtering. Size 12 listings now changed to 16-18

Translatethedog · 01/02/2026 18:39

I have sold lots on there this month and only one bad buyer who got really abusive after she asked that I posted something immediately and I explained that I live 12 miles from the drop off and would post in the morning before work (drop off is near to work). If she had asked before purchasing I could have explained.

As a buyer I’ve luckily only had good experience (touches wood).

ChocolateHobbit · 01/02/2026 09:16

I still use it quite heavily. I don't like the sizing change as I'm a 10-12.

I've been selling a lot lately and I just wish people would drag their arses to the lockers rather than expect a home delivery as post offices round here are few and far between yet there's lockers everywhere.
Can you set preferences with this?

You can go into settings and change your postage options. I deleted Royal Mail as the queue in the post office is always so long, however I only just recently found out that Royal Mail now how some lockers near me so that might be worth checking out to see if you have any in your area.

ThePoliteLion · 01/02/2026 19:08

Never use Vinted.
EBay all the way with me

Connachtfive · 01/02/2026 19:09

Does anyone know how to change the postage options on eBay? Apparently I have opted for the buyer to pick up from my home address and I can’t work out how to change this.

Rainbowdottie · 01/02/2026 19:19

Yes! I’m so fed up with Vinted right now.

I don’t post on Vinted all year round. I tend to do a section of my wardrobe or house, put it all on there and then have a break. Tbh whilst it’s easier than eBay, I don’t enjoy any of the processes..the photos, the listings etc. plus posting it and hope it all gets there etc. I don’t make any huge amounts of money…but I do save “my profits “ for Christmas, so it all helps out. I also sell stuff so cheap, most of it if not all of it goes.

Lately everything I list, most of it , is picked up by the AI bots for various reasons. Poor photos…listing as the wrong brand…counterfeit items. All of them are not true. The photos are clear, I take pics of all labels so you can see the brand there and because I’ve sold one or two “nicer” bits it’s now checking for counterfeit. I have to appeal everyone. Most take days to go through. Tonight I’ve now got a 3 day listing ban 😞 for yet again “poor photos “. I’ve appealed it because I just don’t know what to do, there is nothing else I can do. The item I took 5 mins before with the same phone, in the same room, went through.

Tonight I’ve had a lady buy two items. She messed up the postage label so cancelled and wanted to rebuy. One has listed again fine, the other has now been taken off/down as not listing the brand correctly. It’s been up for a week no problem. But now uploading again…..no. I was annoyed anyway that it was an item that had about 200 views and about 91 favourites and she’s messed that up for me…but now it’s gone altogether. Even if it does comes back she probably has lost the motivation to buy it and it’s lost all its traction. I’ve since had a message to say “if I keep doing this” I’ll get a 7 day ban!!!!!

I’m also in dispute with Vinted over a parcel that has been delivered with a photo evidence and the buyer confirms it’s her front door but she doesn’t have the item. I’ve been waiting weeks for Vinted to make a decision on the case but I’m not actually alllowed to ask them about it, they’ve even told me to stop messaging them about it!!!

Tonight my husband’s like just put the lot in the bin lol. It is tempting. I have a huge amount of patience but this is really testing it! My clothes are also very nice, I’m not prepared to just give them away to charity, nor can I afford to. I spend a lot on my clothes and keep them in pristine condition…every £3,£5,£8,£10 really does add up at the end of the day. But the AI bots are really k1ll1ing me right now 😞😞 In all the years I’ve sold on eBay and then Vinted, this is the hardest I’ve ever found it. Out of everything I’ve ever sold, I’ve had very few problems and issues. I’m not a reseller and don’t want to be. I’m just a shopaholic who likes a clear out probably 3 times a year but boy are Vinted making it hard 😞😞😞😞

Ebay is so much easier since they introduced the "simple delivery" option - buyer pays, like with Vinted. There are AI-generated descriptions too. Once you are in the swing of listing it is dead simple. I did try Vinted, but couldn't cope with all the bargaining and lowball offers, and their customer service is shocking. As I buyer I prefer eBay too, as it is so much easier to filter to what you want.

I also heard you now have to send everything on Vinted (including clothing) in padded packaging, or the buyer can immediately claim their money back. Crazy.

How quickly/ often do you sell on eBay? I find that things on eBay stay listed for months (granted, higher price point) whereas on Vinted my items tend to sell within 24h.

Just feel like eBay doesn’t get a lot of Traffic and the number of listing/ availability of particular items is lower.

Having said that I’ll try it for my Jacquemus next week, the items I’m selling list on eBay for £200 and Vinted more like £30-40.

Any tips on how to make items sell on eBay?

I find that on Vinted items usually sell or get traction within 24h, whereas on eBay… nada. Tumbleweed.

I tend to sell accessible designer items like Alaia, Jacquemus, Prada, Bottega, used, in the £50-100 range. On eBay I don’t even get items favourited, nevermind any sales. Pictures and descriptions are very detailed and prices below average, so I don’t get it.

Carpedimum · 01/02/2026 19:27

EBay is so, so easy and quick to use from listing to posting, no daft questions from potential buyers either.

Namechangerage · 01/02/2026 19:30

Thepuzzledlady · 31/01/2026 11:18

Yes! I listed lots of items before Christmas and I’m fed up of people offering less than half price. I have a brand new with tags Monsoon velvet dress up which was £90 nee, and I had an inbox message offering me £8! I was listing for £25. I think I need to switch all to eBay.

I don’t get why people get so offended by offers… just say no or send a counter offer? I have accepted low offers at times when I just wanted to clear it. So how are buyers meant to know. Maybe 1 out of 10 times their cheeky offer will be accepted… obviously if it’s listed for £100 and you offer £1 it’s not realistic but £25 > £8 - as a seller I may accept if it’s been up a while.

Wexone · 01/02/2026 19:31

GrooveArmada · 31/01/2026 16:38

I'm done with it. I refused to give them my NI details because there's no chance in hell they'd keep them safe. Only my employers, HMRC and my DH have my NI details.

I read some horror stories about buyers using AI to claim damage that didn't exist too. Too many rude people on it these days too. I probably had over 300 transactions in 3 years, all 5 star reviews for me, but I'm done.

Is eBay really ok now? I have so much to sell, children's clothes mostly, but some of mine too as I lost weight.

that's noting to do with vinted it's a new law come in to play. every resale platform has to ask for you ni insurance number. don't provide it if you don't want to resell

As a former prolific eBay buyer I hardly go on eBay anymore. I only use Vinted.

Sharptonguedwoman · 01/02/2026 19:33

Used Vinted as a buyer a couple of times. Once the sale was cancelled after I’d paid and once I bought some trousers supposedly my size/length - it was a lesson in how different theses trousers were from my shape despite being the correct size. Never again.

Cyclingmummy1 · 01/02/2026 19:39

I'm having a good run at the minute. Uploaded one item this afternoon that sold in 20 minutes! It's been great for selling my mum's clothes. I'm not really a buyer, I've replaced a couple of items I'd worn out with the exact same and it's been brilliant for DJs for a growing teen. Bought one, worn twice, outgrown, sold on for same price, bought another.

Crystalovertherainbow · 01/02/2026 19:48

Never been on it, don't need people's arm pits, vaginas and other holes residues on my body. You can buy tons of brand new with no problem even on NMW in the UK

Kerensa70 · 01/02/2026 19:50

Vinted are tricky, esp
if you get stuck with one of their bots. I ordered a hat, it was delivered and put in my recycling while I was at work. It then got taken away with recycling before I got home and I never saw it. Vinted were adamant it was delivered to my address therefore closed the case and I paid £20 for nothing. It was so frustrating and I couldn’t work out how my compulsory buyers protection fee actually protected me. I’m still pissed about it a year on!!

BrendaSmall · 01/02/2026 19:50

I’ve given up with buying completely now
im after size 14 jeans and it’s all listed as 12-14, so I have to go through every photo to see if they’re a 12 or 14!
I feel some sellers are getting greedy, I put an offer in on a dress that’s been on there for 7 months, it’s £2.00 so I offered £1.50 and it was declined!
lol One person was going to give me 10p off a bundle I was interested in, all the items has been on there for 3 months!

It’s not just the money, it’s the environmental impact.

Also the postage arrangements are now useless on vinted. Why oh why does it default to pick up from a shop? 😫
