Is anyone else done with Vinted?

I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

What annoys me about Vinted are the people selling brand new without tags when they're clearly not..... I favourited a dress recently and the lady selling it used a photo of her wearing it at a party stood next to multiple people!
It's not brand new then is it?

Having just spent an hour on Vinted, I think the NUMBER ONE piece of advice I would give to sellers (apart from stating the size in the title) is:
Take a photo of the item. Make that photo your first photo.
A clear photo.
Where you can see the whole item.

The number of listings where I'm browsing and the main photo is just a close-up of the label, or listings where there are 3 blurry pictures, or photos of it lying on the floor from a weird angle, or lots of close-ups but no actual photo of the whole thing is madness.

Gosh yes. In the past week I’ve seen dresses where you can’t see the whole thing so you can’t see the length.

Also photos in terrible light so you can’t see the colour, a dress which was listed as a certain brand and BNWT but there was no photo of the label or tag and on asking for a photo they responded with ‘I can post today if you buy’… They then amended the listing and took the brand out of the title, without mentioning to me that it had been incorrect.

I always report bad photos to Vinted.

It drives me mad to see them. I must waste an hour a week of my valuable time doing this.
🤣

Modernfamily2011 · 02/02/2026 11:34

@LamentableShoes - completely agree, there are so many items where the photo is the jeans or trousers folded in half! You can't clearly see the item at all

I had an argument with a very rude woman who insisted that wearing something "four or five times" meant it was BNWOT.

I even reported it to Vinted, who DGAF.

Ah I didn't know you could do this! Good work!

Ah I didn't know you could do this! Good work!

You just click on the three dots in the top right hand corner, then click on Report.

A range of options then appear, including Poor Quality Photos.

It only seems to take the Vinted Bot a few minutes to answer. They usually delete the listing and chastise the seller.

LavenderBlue19 · 02/02/2026 12:08

Oh I didn't know you could report poor quality photos! I'll start doing that, they drive me mad. What the fuck is the point of going to the trouble of listing if you're adding blurry, dark photos that don't show people what they're buying?

I also list with a higher price than I hope to get in the expectation of offers. I don't take offense to offers, they're usually sensible and if they're not, I just ignore. I'm more likely to accept if I'm already posting stuff that day anyway.

It does really annoy me when sellers don't accept reasonable offers on stuff that's been on there months, though 😂

Are there any alternatives to EBay or Vinted?

Freecycle & Gumtree

Vivianebrooksmatsumoto · 02/02/2026 19:12

I've put my items on holiday mode at least until the spring. I may just stick to ebay since the latest thing is where they ban you for 3 or 5 days for poor photos or if you relist the same item without deleting the previous listing (easily done, I did it before and just got the listing deleted) probably to get people to buy more 'bumps'( utter con - weirdly the first and only item I bumped that sold that way,I then I got a notification telling me to buy more bumps because that sold...hmm funny that...so I did and nothing else 'bumped' did...!)
Not to mention the lowballers and those making offers on bundles, mostly vintage resellers having a restock on my stuff. I'm not giving them a discount so they can make more profit. I turned off bundles as it was getting ridiculous.
I never accepted other offers as no one follows through anyways.
As to good manners, a lot of buyers on there wouldn't know what good manners was if it smacked them in the face.
Buying though, it's the only place I can get certain vintage stuff but I've had a dress doused in perfume, a coat stinking of cigarette smoke, and the latest a white bag of a certain modern make, discoloured yellow on the edges with a mark on the front and seller wouldn't shift on the price claiming it was in very good condition.
The last bag of that same brand was in worse condition than I thought so I'm sticking to only the vintage stuff from now on. I swear some sellers know full well they're selling damaged stuff and don't mention it which isn't something I'd have the gall to do.
I'm honest in my feedback but a lot of sellers don't give a toss.
I'd say Ebay is slow but better buyers and people are willing to pay more on there, but Vinted is OK for just buying depending on the item(most vintage stuff I've had is fine though) but there is lot of crap on there.

Yes! I listed lots of items before Christmas and I’m fed up of people offering less than half price. I have a brand new with tags Monsoon velvet dress up which was £90 nee, and I had an inbox message offering me £8! I was listing for £25. I think I need to switch all to eBay.

This exactly. Listed a good quality leather jacket for£10 based on their recommendation (stupid decision, was worth a lot more) and was offered £6 by multiple people. £10 asks seem to invite £6 offers. Flippin' cheeky!

TiredMummma · 02/02/2026 21:35

I sold a top for £1.50, accepted an offer, sent it within two days, buyer received it within 4 days, left me three stars!!! Claimed I didn’t communicate, but what would I communicate about?! 500 5 stars, but recently buyers are nuts and don’t release it’s basically a second hand jumble sale. Losing interest in it now, eBay is just rubbish usability

Sheldonsheher · 02/02/2026 21:45

The thing is though, no one really buys things full price do they? Monsoon might have sold your 90£ dress for 70% off.
and as people say Vinted is a jumble sale.
who is going to risk 25 to 30 plus fees and shipping on a dress that might not fit and you can’t return probably smells of febreeze.
you may as well buy from sales and so you have to be realistic. You have to sell
things cheap enough.

Flibblemoo · 03/02/2026 11:00

Have you tried thelittleloop.com for buying and selling quality second hand kids clothing without the haggle?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 03/02/2026 18:46

Another thing which amazes me about some sellers on Vinted is the way they announce in the description that the item is "stained - should probably wash out"

I mean WTF. Wash it yourself before listing it FGS.

TheGoddessAthena · 03/02/2026 18:56

I saw one listing earlier “needs an iron” on a crumpled mess of a shirt.

fancytoes · 15/03/2026 15:41

Resurrecting this thread but FFS why can’t I search for a certain size of shorts without having to wade through a bunch of other sizes!

Is it my settings - any tips would be great? I want size 8 not, size 10, but it makes me look for size 8-10. Bastards!

Not your settings. They’ve lumped sizes together. I need 12, and have to look at 14s too.

ThatCyanCat · 15/03/2026 19:02

Why have they messed up the sizing stuff? It can't be making them more sales, everybody hates it and people won't buy a size they know is wrong.

They’ve made it more in line with US sizes.

i hate it but I have bought stuff. Only cos when you click on mos people have now out the size in title or description.

it’s annoying, but I like the cheap clothes!

MonsteraDeliciosa · 15/03/2026 22:23

The sizings… it’s bad enough having to wade through two sizes, but the size ascribed is also wrong: anything with a label marked “L” is usually round about 14 in most clothes, but is now listed in the 16-18 category. I need an 18, but if I buy an L it might be a 14!
Conversely, if I want something (like a dressing gown, say) likely to be labelled XXL (a true 18!) I have to look in the 20-22 category!
You could end up wading through 4 sizes instead of one for something.

Pain in the bum.

fancytoes · 16/03/2026 07:56

😱 I just got asked to try on a pair of 7 for all mankind jeans that I have on sale for £10….

g1c2d3 · 16/03/2026 07:59

Does anyone know if there is a way, as a seller, to disable purchases from the USA?

no you can't - and if you keep cancelling sales from usa you can get your account banned
