Is anyone else done with Vinted?

I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

Eg I am looking for a Barbour jacket. I am a uk 14 but for Barbour they are wee
made so I’m looking to buy a 16. To get real size 16 uk sizes come up I have had to search for Barbour jackets size 22-24 or even 24-26 uk sizes!! Then scour the listings to see if the sellers have taken a picture of the real actual size on the tags on the item. It’s absolutely mental.

TheActualQueen · 31/01/2026 11:36

How does the shipping to US not outweigh the cost benefits to buyers? I just posted a small- medium sized gift to my cousin in the us and the post was £28!

redboxerclub · 31/01/2026 11:40

Absolutely and I have made over £1500 in the last two years and frequently bought but the sizing is absolute dreadful. Who thought that was a good idea.

I cannot find anything I want anymore and previously it was so easy.

Size should be
xx-6
xs-8
s-10
m-12
l-14
xl-16
1xl- 18
2xl -20
3xl-22
and so on

what a shit show

Ikeameatballs · 31/01/2026 11:41

I’m another one who has struggled since the sizing changes came in. Usually wear a 6-8, depending on tops/bottoms and brand. Now trawling through clothes across 4 sizes, two of which definitely won’t fit. Also some items are being listed at prices that aren’t actually that much less than full price when you add on the shipping and guarantee costs.

RavenPie · 31/01/2026 11:45

It’s too hard to narrow things down now. I’ve always had issues as I’m “petite” and you can’t select that - you have to search “petite” and then filter -women - clothing - trousers - all” which still gives you a million things - about 10% of them petite but now I have to find something, click on it, read the description, scroll the photos etc to find they are 8 when I want a 10. I want to be able to filter by “10” and “petite” which I don’t think is a lot to ask.
I got ds’s prom suit from there last year and that was even harder, partly because people don’t understand the difference between waist size in the trousers and chest size in the jacket.

Catwalking · 31/01/2026 11:49

I went off ebay (a bit, as seller) yrs ago when they decided to add cost of postage & packing into value of item & then take % from that!
I tried to purchase something on V once, but pick up point was miles from me so have never bothered again.
Now I’d always look ebay 1st… tho always select only stuff for sale in uk….well after I’ve scoured charity shop!

captivate · 31/01/2026 11:51

I was only getting into buying on there before the sizing change and it was actually really good but after the change it is terrible and I have stopped.

The other thing they changed is I can't open a link in a new tab so I have to click in to the thing and then when I go back to the original page it has refreshed. So if there were 3 things I wanted a closer look at I can only choose one, and then the others are lost.

To get around that I can add to favourites and then go in for closer looks that way but honestly the added steps and clicks is just a pain and it isn't worth it.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 31/01/2026 11:55

I can’t get too stressed about it. Every so often I list a few things and then forget about them until something sells. It then couldn’t be easier to stick it in a postage bag and drop it at a locker.

I dual list everything on eBay and Vinted, and I couldn’t care less if someone makes a low offer. I just decline it, which takes half a second.

SirChenjins · 31/01/2026 11:57

Me. I used to spend a lot on there but cba with it now the sizing has changed - it takes far too long to find things in my size. Some sellers will prefix the title with the size which makes it easier to see at a glance, but the majority don't.

BernadetteJune · 31/01/2026 12:02

I love Vinted and have got some really nice clothes. There are some great offers on new/nearly new items and if something is not quite right e.g. too short etc then I put it in the charity bag. As others have said - the sizing thing is a nightmare. What really helps me is when sellers take a picture of the label - then I can see the actual size and knowing the brand you can work out if it is right or not. This saves me having to message the seller to ask what size the label shows.

ClariceStarlingsDuffleCoat · 31/01/2026 12:04

I don't really buy much on there, but I sell quite a bit and not really had any problems. I do get cheeky offers sometimes but don't take it personally - I just decline or counter offer with a more reasonable price. I ignore requests for photos of me wearing it, or people who want the life story of a item. I've only had to block one persistent person!

Ineedanewsofa · 31/01/2026 12:16

I’m still selling a fair bit, I make sure I take plenty of photos including of the size label and write a decent description as a bit more detail seems to hit the algorithm better.
I only sell stuff that would otherwise be going to the charity shop (some does if it doesn’t sell within 3 weeks) and list at realistic prices (e.g I would never list for more that 50% of RRP even if it’s new) Vinted is supposed to be for bargains!
Anything high end goes via a specialist platform like Vestiaire.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 31/01/2026 12:17

I buy not sell and still think it’s great and don’t really get the angst over sizing, however I look at specific brands in new/very good condition, just pick 8-10 and have no issues clicking and if I think wrong size moving on. Makes no real difference to me and I don’t find it a slog, I’m not in such a hurry when perusing that a couple of seconds makes a difference.

AuntyVibes · 31/01/2026 12:29

Post items on EBay and then use the title and description to copy to Vinted, different items sell to different customer bases on both sites. If you have some delivery bags, it is easy to pack and send. I sell on both, and have a couple or more sales a week some weeks. The codes are printed from shops that offer Evri / Inpost or one of the other ones.

HopingForTheBest25 · 31/01/2026 15:09

I'm finding a lot of raggedy looking items despite my settings being for new only. It's easier (and often not much more expensive) to just buy it from a shop, when you take into account postage, the buyer protection fee and the cost of buying items which aren't quite right so end up being charity shopped!

Ive deleted all my listings - too much hassle for too little money and once my last bought item arrives, I'll delete the app.

helpagal · 31/01/2026 15:34

I sell quite a lot on there. Find it pretty easy to use. What does piss me off though- an old item
sold and I needed to get up in the loft to find it. Messaged the buyer to say I’m going to request to extend the deadline so I can get into loft at weekend but Vinted cancelled the order before buyer could respond and now I’ve got automatic negative feedback

cantankerousoldcrone · 31/01/2026 15:39

I'm a brand new seller, sold two items have one listed. I found it very easy. What's the issue re sizing, I didn't notice any issues? Have I missed something?

TheLyricalDanceFlap · 31/01/2026 16:18

I find it easier than eBay, as pp said the taking a percentage of postage and fees turned me off, but sellers trying to claim extra for parking and packing was also getting out of hand.
People making cheeky offers on Vinted does wear a bit thin, especially when they add a little sob story. I don’t engage though, just give my counter offer of the full price.
I mostly sell, I have bought a few things but have been stung a couple of times. I always see people on here saying they’ve found brand new, current clothing for a fraction of the price but I only seem to see people wanting a couple of pounds less than full price. Admittedly I get sick of looking so perhaps that’s on me.

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/01/2026 16:30

I love Vinted! It’s not perfect but I really enjoy when my un-needed items find an appreciative new home! And I buy nearly all of my own and my children’s clothes on there with the money I make. I find the process really easy, and I love the fact that it’s keeping stuff out of landfill.

GrooveArmada · 31/01/2026 16:38

I'm done with it. I refused to give them my NI details because there's no chance in hell they'd keep them safe. Only my employers, HMRC and my DH have my NI details.

I read some horror stories about buyers using AI to claim damage that didn't exist too. Too many rude people on it these days too. I probably had over 300 transactions in 3 years, all 5 star reviews for me, but I'm done.

Is eBay really ok now? I have so much to sell, children's clothes mostly, but some of mine too as I lost weight.

Connachtfive · 31/01/2026 16:51

Are there any alternatives to EBay or Vinted?

Meltedclock · 31/01/2026 18:27

I love using it as a buyer - not tried selling on it yet. I don't buy much adult clothes, have bought lots of kids clothes and that's been fine. I've been able to buy lots of toys and books that I'd not consider buying at full price so it's made life better in that sense. I also like that I can get items sent to Inpost lockers as I hate queues at the post office and having to speak to the staff.

I still use ebay and one thing that is much better on ebay is that you can search by distance which is useful for large items for collection. On Vinted there's no way to tell where an item is and some sellers say it's for collection only but don't put where they are!

Facebook marketplace if you can stomach it!

Thoughtsandprayers · 31/01/2026 19:48

I have bought and sold a fair amount on Vinted & only had a few dodgy purchases luckily. I’ve also had a couple
buyers ‘trying it on’ too. I managed to get one to remove the bad review (so still have perfect 5*) Another, when I queried their issues accepted then gave me a positive review!

The new sizing is a bit of a pain especially when sellers don’t state the actual
size. I generally send a message asking for the size on the label but a lot don’t bother to reply.

Finally, the amount of cheeky offers I’m now getting is unreal!

danglethedingle · 31/01/2026 19:53

I lost 2 1/2 stone and virtually replaced my entire wardrobe through Vinted. Then the sizing changed and I have only bought one top since, its a bloody shambles.
