Is anyone else done with Vinted?

I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

You can limit it, but I think vinted can over ride it. Be cautious though, I work full time, it’s a 30 min round trip for me to get to a locker, not including time to pick it up and assuming no traffic, most work days it’s not an option for me.

the result is when I see limited options, for example I won’t buy from anyone who only allows Evri or lockers, I move on. Only once have I been so tempted I messaged the seller and asked and she said yes and changed the options. Otherwise I’d have moved on and not bought. I won’t use Evri as they are so so bad and I can’t be arsed dealing with delayed and lost parcels.

im a good buyer as said. I buy higher end items, in new or very good condition and I often pay asking or close to, I’m really just deciding if it’s a fair price. So by limiting if I was your target market, I’d decline to buy from you, and just move on and you’d not know why I viewed and didn’t offer.

Fair enough, I think it depends on how you use Vinted as a seller. For instance, if you're selling something for £50 it may well be worth the round trip and the queueing at the post office. I tend to sell things for £5-£10 so it makes more sense for me to limit my shipping options and have it be a 2 minute InPost job.

Just turned down someone’s offer which would have given them a 40% discount! It already has 5 favourites since going up a few hours ago so I will give it time. If people are only prepared to give me £3 then I will walk it down to a charity shop instead where they will sell it for at least £12.

ebay was lovely for about 3 years, then it got taken over by businesses selling new stuff.
And etsy - no, that's not handmade and certainly not by you.
I wish these places would decide on an ethos and stick to it.
I also liked amazon when it was for books... Why can't there be a "don't include" search term, and why oh why do they allow descriptions that are just a list of every type of clothing and fibre?
With all that on my chest I never got around to trying vinted. 🤐

A don't include filter would be genius.
Also does anyone ever post anything that's not "very good"? I carefully list as satisfactory if there's the slightest hint of wear but the absolute tat that people list as very good...
I haven't been on vinted for months. I sold a lot of stuff over a period of a year but that's my surplus clothing gone now. I don't buy very much unless it's an item I know will fit and it looks decent.
DS has just given me a load of his clothes to sell or donate as I see fit, I think it will be charity shop.

Pinepeak2434 · 01/02/2026 17:06

I had a good run selling on Vinted, but like many others, my listings gradually seemed to be getting very few views. Having to make ad hoc drop-offs for individual items was also becoming tedious, so I prefer eBay because I can set end dates and then send all the items off for delivery at the same time.

LamentableShoes · 01/02/2026 17:15

Rumpledandcrumpled · 01/02/2026 16:38

But it’s largely the same sellers on both platforms. I don’t really get what people are saying, sure there is some who do one or the other, but many many of them do both,

Ooh that's interesting - how can you tell?

LamentableShoes · 01/02/2026 17:16

NoDrums · 01/02/2026 16:52

Sorry for a silly question, I’m very new to Vinted, primarily as a seller to declutter.

What do you meant by Vinted changing sizes? Is it US vs UK?

Please do put the actual label size in the title when you list! Makes life a lot easier!

Stinksmum · 01/02/2026 17:16

I've certainly still had a few disappointments recently. I'm fed up of sellers not posting the items. If you sell the item, and say, you've donated it, or can't find it, why not let the buyer know and cancel the sale? That way I could look for something else.

plsdontlookatme · 01/02/2026 17:29

I find it annoying when people don't include the fabric composition. I don't want to spend money on something I can't return unless I know it's not 100% polyester!

I have taken pictures of the size label so hopefully that will circumvent the new sizing issue.

SurferRona · 01/02/2026 17:34

They are on a yellow card with me as a buyer. Was poised ready to start selling this month, but I’m seeing how my issue gets resolved first….

I bought an alleged RL purple label shirt, which RM delivered to a different address so I did the pause ‘I have an issue’ whilst I tracked it down. I emailed support to say I’d found it, and would be picking up that night (phew). VINTED ONLY DECIDED UNILATERALLY TO RELEASE THE FUNDS TO THE COUNTERFEITING SELLER AT THAT POINT. Soon as I saw it I knew it was a fake, and a bad one. Vinted frontline support just shrugged and said it’s too late we released the funds… I’m now down a chunk of cash and have a poor quality fake item. After eight days of stonewalling the seller admitted it was a fake and asked for my bank details to give a partial refund?! Like I would do that. I have no idea what the buyers fee is actually for. I’ve complained to legal@Vinted so will see what they say, but their systems are not fit for purpose if counterfeit fake goods are sold so easily and dupe buyers!

bumblebee1000 · 01/02/2026 17:34

Have sold items and bought some nice things at a good price. Had to return a tracksuit which was stated as new and never worn but arrived with black engine oil all over one arm...messaged seller and returned the items for a refund...he replied that I was fussy !!

WithTwoGiantBoys · 01/02/2026 17:37

I lost lots of weight and replaced my entire wardrobe on Vinted and charity shops, but haven't bought anything since the sizing change because I'm a 10-12 and get bored finding things that I like that turn out (once I've clicked in and through all the photos and zoomed in on the label) to be a 14. It's much harder to find things I like in the right size so I just can't be bothered to browse any more. Such a shame. I have twice filled in feedback forms telling them this but they aren't listening...

ContentedAlpaca · 01/02/2026 17:38

I've scrolled through 5 pages of jeans looking for a 10, there'll nearly all 8 so it was futile

NoDrums · 01/02/2026 17:39

PangaBanga · 01/02/2026 15:52

I've used Vinted a lot for buying in just over a year. Being able to get nice stuff that was relatively easy to filter for and cheaper than new was a huge plus, and made it worth putting up with timewasting by the occasional flakey seller.

The new sizing is a total pita and I seem to be encountering more sellers who are a faff to deal with.

I sacked off ebay because of a few encounters with scammers and people selling items that turned out to be seconds and so badly cut they were unwearable, and once a pair of shoes that were falling apart.

I don't particularly want to go back to ebay but Vinted isn't as good as it used to be.

What were the key things you and other PPs liked about Vinted?

As a new user, it feels that the market is totally saturated and I don’t see how my Uniqlo jumper would stand out in anyway amongst 60 other similar posts.

SpongeKnobNoPants · 01/02/2026 17:40

Totally with you on this. For me, it's the sellers getting away with murder while I keep getting reprimanded for things I haven't done wrong.

Eg, when I report sellers for listing items as 'New' but describe in the details that the items are in fact used, and pictures also clearly show wear & tear, I get a CS reply of 'Sorry, this listing has not been taken down as we find it hasn't violated our policies' But then I've had a number of listings taken down for 'using copyrighted images' when I most definitely haven't. I've tried appealing and even said "do a reverse image search, you will NOT find my image anywhere else. This is entirely MY intellectual property, they are obviously MY photos" and I just get a repeat response of the first email telling me I'm going against their policy of using copyrighted images that don't belong to me. It's so frustrating! Now, they appear to have disabled the ability for me to appeal. I now can't say anything to defend myself.

Also, see hair styling tools - apparently ALL have to be NWT, absolutely no NWOT or used. Stupid rule in my book, as plenty of hairdryers, wands, straighteners, heated brushes etc could be re-used (or even repaired if listed for faulty or spare parts). However, everyone lists used hair styling appliances under NWT. But I'm not allowed to. Literally thousands of people doing it, but I can't.

I actually bought a used hair styling appliance from a seller on Vinted (listed as NWT. but described in details as used). It didn't give my fine fluffy unruly hair the effect I was after, so decided to sell on again, but it was taken down for being used.

Also an extraordinary amount of blatant scammers. Had one scam my son by listing a used and fake high-end brand as genuine and new. When we received it, I collected proof of it being fake and used, and the seller had to refund me. But the seller just deleted their account, made a new one and attempted to harass me demanding I send the money back that I got refunded.

The whole sizing change is utterly ridiculous. I genuinely dont understand why they use 4-6, 8-10, 12-14 instead of just individual sizes, with XS S M etc as well, with the ability to filter out multiple sizes if you're inbetween. The 'round-about' sizing is tedious when you keep looking at stuff that won't fit.

Hate this platform now and have stopped uploading anything new.

Might have to go back to eBay. I just find the details required for each item on ebay is relentlessly longwinded when you just want to make a few bob so they don't end up in landfill (or filling greedy chief execs and senior managers pockets in charities, while the supposed benefactors of charities get the tiniest percentage and shop workers get absolutely nothing).

YiayiaP · 01/02/2026 17:41

Yep. All my ‘for sale’ items went to the charity shop and I can’t be arsed to go through the dual sizing looking for my actual size since the new sizing categories were introduced! Plus, got sick of the ridiculous cheeky offers from buyers.

SpongeKnobNoPants · 01/02/2026 17:48

And don't get me started on sellers who have misrepresented the items but the buyer has to pay the return postage costs if the seller doesn't agree to take on that cost. Even if you have a multitude of pics proving it's not as described, the seller accepts it but can then also say they won't cover the return postage cost. Quite often the postage is more than what the item cost, so you're stuck with tat. CS just tell you to 'talk to the seller and see if you can come to an agreement' whereby the seller pays for the return postage.

But why would they agree to that when its not enforced?!

Vinted obviously still want their share. But they could have a policy where they still get their share even if the seller has to refund AND cover return postage as a penalty for failing to describe honestly. Maybe then that'd be the best deterrent for lying sellers.

DrNo007 · 01/02/2026 17:54

I got scammed out of £80 by Vinted when I sold an originally expensive and almost unworn wool coat on there. Due to a glitch with the original (Vinted-supplied) postage label, the buyer paid but Vinted kept insisting I never posted the item (I did, and the buyer confirmed she received it). So Vinted kept refunding her the money; she tried again to pay it, but Vinted refunded it again. My attempts to sort it out with "support" failed because you don't get a real person, you just get chatbots that send you round in circles. The buyer ended up with the coat and the the money I should have received. Not her fault, entirely Vinted's. I vowed never to use Vinted again and now use Ebay only. Much easier.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 01/02/2026 17:58

My item has just sold at my full asking price! I had priced it sensibly for something I had worn only a few times but will not wear again because it’s too big for me. I think the problem with Vinted now is that there are lots of ‘professional’ dealers on it and they will make quite cheeky offers so that they can sell at a much higher price.

Peoples expectations of how much to charge can also be rather skewed. I have seen people trying to charge ridiculous amounts for broken Emma bridge water mugs or used running trainers or an SeaSalt coat that has clearly seen much better days etc. Some sellers will put a price on that is not much below a retail special offer price!

Mcoco · 01/02/2026 18:03

I sell quite low as I want to get rid of my items. I really like vinted I do get cheeky offers and depending on my mood I decline or accept 😂

Sorry for a silly question, I’m very new to Vinted, primarily as a seller to declutter.

What do you meant by Vinted changing sizes? Is it US vs UK?

They changed the sizing categories, it used to be 8/S, 10/M, 12/L etc. Now it’s 8-10/S, 12-14/M, 16-18/L. So not only do you have to go through twice as many listings to find the right size, there will also be a load left over from the old system, so in the wrong category.
They changed it, everyone told them it was shit, their UK sales must have dropped significantly but they don’t care.
I used to buy loads of nice cheap clothes on Vinted, but I haven’t bought anything since they changed it

tedibear · 01/02/2026 18:11

I switched from eBay to vinted last yr. Sales on eBay are soooo slow and I got fed up. I put the items on vinted and it all went quickly. I do think u get more money on eBay but it can take weeks if not months to shift stuff.

So I would love to go bk to eBay and ditch vinted but it just doesn’t seem as high a customer base now for most of items I’m selling. Mostly kids clothes and toys. I do still list some things on eBay especially if a higher value.

I wish I cld apply no offers on vinted. I do that on ebay it’s buy it now no offers. Occasionally someone will send a message saying will u take (way less than its on for). Mostly that happens on vinted.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 01/02/2026 18:18

@Azurearransea totally agree with the lies about new items. I actually received a new with tags dress that had been washed with the tags left on. Yet it still smelled awful so they must have worn it again and not bothered with the second wash.

YourWinter · 01/02/2026 18:19

I’m really fed up with Vinted. I went through all my women’s clothes listed and edited the size categories, only about 6 items but still none sold even at rock-bottom prices. Kids’ clothes have been selling slightly more quickly but I’m so tired of listing something for £2 and immediately getting four or five people offering £1. It costs me more than that to drive four miles to the nearest Evri drop-off and people don’t want to pay the extra few pence for Royal Mail, which I can post in the village.

I buy from eBay but haven’t sold on there since clearing out 100 CDs when I got my first iPod! Might be time to go back to it.

I haven't been on eBay for about 18years! Is it easy to sell as I remember that being a PITA at the time 😆

I find it super easy.
