Is anyone else done with Vinted?

I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

@Wexone, thank you - that’s very useful to know.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 18/03/2026 18:09

Another annoying one is Vinted saying "it's time to ship your item!" After two days. Also, the "fast shipping" reward that shows on your profile to buyers. Like, yes sometimes I can send straight away, other weeks I might have loads on etc. it's really not friendly on the selling side.

I’ve had my first issue as a seller. Apparently some loose stitches on a hem. I don’t think there were, but I can’t prove it. I’ve offered a partial refund (how do you know how much to offer??)

It’s the first thing I’ve sold that was over £10, but it was already priced well to sell quickly. Urgh.

I’ve offered a third back, which makes it a bargain.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 20/03/2026 07:55

That's the thing as a buyer, I don't buy with high expectations or inspect the item so I probably wouldn't notice the hem too much. I sold a coat for a £1 and the buyer complained there was a slight bobbing at the bottom.
I sold it as satisfactory.

So annoying. If I received an item with a bit of loose stitching, I would just fix it, Such a small thing. Even if I did buy it in a shop, I’d probably still fix it, provided it wasn’t something very expensive. I reckon a lot of people are just absolute chancers. Also, I think being outraged about the smallest thing seems to be the norm now. I don’t know if it’s paranoia (about being ripped off) or just fussiness/entitlement.

FoxRedPuppy · 20/03/2026 08:29

The length and tone of the response makes me think it isn’t the first time. Also a pair of scissors in the picture pointing out loose stitching!

I bought some shoes recently, really cheap. Turns out they are wide fit and that wasn’t listed. I’ve just donated them to a charity shop. (They cost £2!)

Can't you ask the buyer to send it back and refund them? Sell it again to someone else.

FoxRedPuppy · 20/03/2026 19:38

She has said she will only accept that if I pay for the postage. I’ll see how she responds to the partial refund.

She doesn't get to decide that. You do.
Tell her to send it back and make her pay for the return.

I always do that with CFs. I don't sell things in bad condition, and I rarely get this situation.

If you tell them they have to pay for the return, they very often just don't send things back.

FoxRedPuppy · 20/03/2026 20:52

She accepted the money off. Then I released she has 300+ listings for the same brand of clothing. She’ll resell it for loads more.

Oh well. Lesson learned.

I had a very disappointing experience using this platform. Sellers seem to be left without proper support, which creates a frustrating and unfair environment. In my case, a buyer @jodiew91 falsely claimed that the item I sold was not authentic, without providing any real evidence. This felt like a clear attempt to scam the system. Despite raising the issue, customer service was unhelpful and did not offer meaningful support or resolution. It’s concerning that there appears to be little protection in place against dishonest users. Sellers are especially vulnerable to false claims, and buyers also seem to lack proper guidance when issues arise. Overall, the lack of reliable customer service and accountability makes it difficult to trust the platform. I would strongly advise others to be cautious when buying or selling here.

Handeyethingyowl · 29/03/2026 15:22

So is ebay better at the moment? Just gathered a haul of items to sell.

Had a very silly offer on Vinted for the only item I have listed, a new with tags pristine coat from a decent brand so I don’t want to waste my time!

NeedWineNow · 11/04/2026 10:21

I’ve only ever bought on Vinted and have had great experiences, well priced items as described and good sellers. However I’ve had such a bad experience with one seller where an item was described as very good but when it arrived it blatantly wasn’t. Even though it was inexpensive I raised an issue and had a barrage of increasingly unpleasant messages from the seller saying that the item was perfect, that I’d deliberately damaged it to get out of paying, and that I would be hearing from her lawyer! I ended up paying just to get rid of her as I couldn’t stand the unpleasantness any longer. DH reckoned she knew she was sending something that wasn’t as described and her aggressive stance from the off was a bullying tactic.

Has anyone used Thrift Plus to sell clothing? I’ve just seen an advert on insta but I’ve never heard of them.

The only bad experience I have had (have sold over 200 items now - you would think my house would be empty but I keep finding things!) is with a buyer who bought three items and then cancelled within 5 minutes. She then re-bought 2 of the items a couple of days later. Somehow, I knew she was going to be trouble. First she complained that one of the times wasn't in the packet - as I was at work, I couldn't be sure it hadn't slipped out and was sitting on the kitchen table so told here I would check at home and refund accordingly. When I got home, she had reported a problem with the dress, showing a photo of a ripped seam and complaining I hadn't said it had a back split. It did not have a ripped seam when I sent it out but there was no way of proving it. So she got both items for free. Weirdly, it was a £2 used BooHoo dress of dubious quality (although entirely clean and in good condition) and a pair of clip on earrings for £1! I sell lots of, ostensibly, better clothing eg. Boden, White Stuff, Sea Salt but she picked that!

It must be a nightmare for sellers when people do that which has put me off listing anything at the moment.

I was just so annoyed about the item I had ordered (a bag) which was described as very good but when I received it and looked at the original listing I realised that the photos had been very selective and hadn't showed damage to the sides and bottom of the bag. As my DH said, if I'd seen it in a charity shop like that I wouldn't have purchased. YesI, maybe should have been a bit more astute, particularly as it was inexpensive for the size and type of bag but really just be honest about the damage so the buyer can make a considered decision on whether or not to purchase. On reflection the highly aggressive stance from the off when I raised an issue should have put me on my guard. My DH couldn't believe the messages and neither could I - he was the one who suggested paying up just to stop the unpleasantness.

FoxRedPuppy · 13/04/2026 12:00

My recent annoyance was a top that arrived with a stain on it. It was a white top, it’s a faded stain, but still. Even though I bought it for £2 (plus postage) I wouldn’t have bought it had I known. And I was away for weekend so kissed my window to complain. She’d probably think I was mad complaining about £2!

Ive had a buyer complain that a thread was loose on a hem. I don’t think it was when I posted it, but can’t prove it. I offered a few quid off. It was already a bargain for the brand. But that’s the risk of buying and selling second hand online.
