I just quoted the Daily Mail because I thought it would be easier for people on here to then do their own research. This piece of news has been widely reported and commented. Please so your own research.

I do my own research and it debunks most of the shite you espouse.

In relation to your Daily Mail article, I can't read the whole thing because I refuse to allow cookies. However, the headline would appear to suggest that a nurse said they should inject paralysis drugs into ICE agents. I'm failing to understand why this is news. Yes it is a horrible thing to say but why on earth should it make DM headlines (obviously agenda but hey). And yet, where is your outrage when Trump et al. state that Alex Pretti was a domestic terroal. state that Alex Pretti was a domestic. Where is your outrage for the corruption from the Trump family abusing his position to enrich his family?

Maybe you should try some alternative sources:

Gov. Tim Walz and Jason Zengerle: The Assault on Minnesota

The deployment of dangerous, untrained, and violent federal agents on the streets of Minneapolis met its match in a massive, organized, nonviolent resistance that truly showed what democracy looks…

The more you have on anything, the less it's worth. This means you need to continually be market rigging to maintain value of existing asset.

Diamonds spring to mind. I mean who on earth thought they were rare ?

Oh dear the "I have family in USA" line again. So of course your family knows everything that is happening all over the USA. Next time you speak them ask them which news channel they watch and where they are getting their news. I would be interested to know.

I am aware that US media is even more politicised than it is in the UK. But the Mail? As a pp said, if this is so widely reported, give us something from Reuters or similar.

Also even if it's true, two wrongs don't make a right. And so far the only people getting murdered have been murdered by ICE.

Do you think it's acceptable to detain citizens for looking a bit brown? Do you think it's acceptable to pick up people for not carrying ID in a country where there is no legal obligation to do so?

We see you. We aren't buying what you're selling.

Quote : " . Please so (sic)your own research."

The MAGA bingo card is being filled out :-)

There are loads of articles on links between that phrase and conspiracists. Example here :

Why ‘Doing Your Own Research’ Leads to Believing Conspiracies (princeea.com)

No need to click really, here is the main bit from that :

"This isn’t a plea to bow to authority and stop thinking for yourself. It’s the opposite: real critical thinking is work, and the web makes the cheap version deceptively easy. When you skim headlines, follow emotional breadcrumbs, and prioritize novelty over method, you’re doing a kind of research but not one that maps to how experts actually evaluate evidence. Genuine inquiry traces claims back to original studies, weighs methods, tests rival explanations, and tolerates uncertainty. The modern media ecosystem rewards outrage and simplicity, not careful nuance. So while independent investigation can make you wiser, if you do it using typical online habits you’re more likely to become convinced by persuasive noise than by tested facts and that dynamic is why “doing your own research” so often leads into the warm, conspiratorial glow of false certainty."

So yup. " Do your own research" is a phrase really best avoided really. Unless of course you are presenting accurate source data and all that sort of stuff.

Sorry to digress from the topic.

Back to Trump. He is of course suggesting that the assault on Rep Omar was set up by.... Rep Omar.

He is a flat out conspiracist. That reminds me, did he not make promises on his first term re Area 51?

So all you’re doing is making a complete fool of yourself sweetie

Nothing wrong with my blood pressure 😂I am very calm. Laughter is very good for blood pressure. Finding some of the posts on this thread very entertaining😂

@Donttellempike love your user name..... Don't tell them pike - one of my all time favourite scenes from Dad's Army.......

Eye witness

Okay so I was actually at this encounter, filmed the aftermath, and am briefly visible in this video, and I would point out that what he does here is briefly kick a car twice. ICE beats him up, shoots pepper balls into the crowd, and launches tear gas at everyone else before leaving.

I didn’t realize that the person we saw was him but I had seen a person striking an ICE vehicle and have mentioned it before. Don’t do that! They’ll attack you! But the overwhelming impression of this encounter was massively disproportionate force by ICE, to a truly shocking, jarring degree.

Here’s the video. Before these videos were taken ICE had abducted someone - I followed the convoy back to Whipple and then returned and they were still, for some reason, deployed up and down Park Ave causing chaos. Impossible to overstate how much ICE’s goal seemed to be open incitement.

Also, it remains almost impossible that this incident somehow caused the shooting. It took journalists five days to figure out that this was the same guy, a bunch of Border Patrol who run into him on Saturday morning aren’t going to have some cross-reference done in seconds. Wrong place, wrong time.

One to keep an eye on, (no mention of fraud)

I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

“Do your own research.” I just love that MAGA line. Too bad it doesn’t involve actual research.

FWIW, my US family follow the Associated Press and Reuters, which are both politically neutral. But I guess I’m wasting my breath on someone who likes to link Daily Mail hyperlinks.

DuncinToffee · 29/01/2026 13:03

Maine Senator Susan Collins said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem informed her that ICE will end the immigration enforcement surge in the state.

I am sure this has nothing to do with it being a state where the Republican Senator with a narrow majority is up for re-election Confused

This has to be a parody but it's crazy that we can't really tell

Alltheyellowbirds · 29/01/2026 14:19

No idea if this one is true or not but honestly most of Trump’s Truth Social posts are the actual rantings of a madman. Beyond any kind of parody or satire.

It’s a real shame that he’s no longer on Twitter because at least if it was happening there more people would see what a loon he is. Those on Truth Social tend to be the kind that agrees with him.

Luckily a number of journalists and bloggers share them but still.

James Talarico is on today’s Daily Beast podcast. Don’t know a massive amount about him but he’s incredibly eloquent.

Echobelly · 29/01/2026 14:37

I'm Jewish and just found out about this, which has been going on since November. The government wants a list of Jewish students at University of Pennsylvania and those involved in Jewish groups, ostensibly because they want to know about 'antisemitic incidents' so they can "deal with' them, but if that were the case you could just ask people. Because governments wanting 'lists of Jews' doesn't tend to end well. Jewish Voices for Peace, who have a presence in campus, reckon this may be aimed at them for daring to criticise Israel, and I suspect they are right. But kind of confirms my concerns that there are at least some people in this administration who are a bit too interested in gathering info about Jewish people

But Yank, if they aren't pandering to the MAGA cult and lapping up every lie they spout, they are clearly a leftist wokerati news outlet. Only Fox, the Fail and that sort can be considered reliable news sources. Reuters? Pah!

RedTagAlan · 29/01/2026 14:51

Re the Melania film. Hands up who is going to watch it ?

I heard US airlines have banned it from inflight entertainment for fear passengers get up and walk out.

There was also a rumor that Bezos was asked if he could fill the cinema seats with Amazon workers. Alas the request came a day too late. He has just sacked them all.

And hey, watch out for those offers of a free Trump phone for every 10 tickets sold. They only printed 9 tickets.

:-)

BustingBaoBun · 29/01/2026 14:53

Melania The Film

Even if they showed it on a plane, people would walk out

😂

BustingBaoBun · 29/01/2026 14:54

My DD is monitoring her local cinema. So far it has sold one ticket.
