Yes. I notice something here:

(wait for image probably)

I wish Trump would big up bitcoin. It might revive my modest holdings.

"AI" sceptics might be interested to know that I am seeing a future where real people use digital signatures to authenticate digital content. The fallout being that "AI" content masquerading as a thoughtful article by <insert name> can be easily dismissed.

This could be the hour of the blockchain

Apart from the sheer megalomania in such a statue, the amusing thing is that the sculptor admits he had to make Trump's statue more flattering..
"I had him very lifelike,” Cottrill told the Times. “The crypto guys said I had to get rid of some of the turkey neck. I had to thin him down.”
Plus the famously ethereal hair quiff looks like a Yorkshire flat cap when rendered in bronze

Remember the fate(s) of Melania's statue?

Horrific news coming from Nigeria. 170 dead.

The world really does need to help Nigeria with this. And while I know this is maybe a more lighthearted thread, I seriously worry about what Trump will do.

OK, my UK peeps. Why does there seem to be a 'feeling' going round that Farage may be the PM? Doesn't he have to lead the majority party for that? Reform UK only has 8 seats. That's a pretty puny amount next to what I consider the 'main' parties; Labour 404, Conservative 116. Even if Reform were to pick up the votes of every other party* excluding Lib Dem (as I think they're 'Lefties?) they still wouldn't exceed the Labour number (404 / 354).

What am I missing? Where is it expected that Reform will pick up enough seats or that Labour will lose enough seats to win the majority in Parliament?

*I have no idea of the 'leanings' of the other parties (SNP, Plaid Cymru, etc).

It's a right wing media push, even in the Guardian and the BBC. There's no scrutiny of Farage. A few reports about councils under the control of Reform. For example:

More than 300 Washington Post journalists laid off. Across all departments - including every editor and journalist in the Middle East and Ukraine it seems. 😡

Will the Ukraine correspondent have to buy her own ticket home?

As predicted on these threads -

Steve Bannon said Tuesday that the federal government is planning to send Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to patrol polling stations during this year’s midterm elections.
“We’re going to have ICE surround the polls come November,” Bannon, a former senior advisor to President Donald Trump and still a figure of influence in the administration, said on Tuesday’s episode of his War Room podcast, addressing Democrats.

It's unbearable. I'm so sorry for Americans. I don't know which it would be worse to be, one of those who know what's coming or one of those who don't. Desperate times.

*I have no idea of the 'leanings' of the other parties (SNP, Plaid Cymru, etc).

Our media are leaning right. The BBC in particular gives them a lof more air time than the other parties with a similar number of seats.

There is a lot of noise online from people with limited or no posting history. They drop their support of Farage into everything. They are usually countered by 2-3 people with posting histories though which is heartening.

I've noticed on my Facebook page, anything critical of Farage and reform is hidden. It defaults to most relevant even though I have show all in my settings, and only shows positive for Farage comments unless I click on show all. You could be forgiven for thinking you are an outlier in thinking he's a wanker because of this.

Flood the zone with how everyone is voting for them, will catch the attention of people who aren't clued into politics. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

The only party actively campaigning are reform. Once the other parties start in a few years nearer to the elections, I would expect the support to drop. People will want to look at their successes and failures and policies will be examined.

In reality, I can count on one hand those that I know who are likely to vote reform, they are older. The young people I know think they are a joke.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/02/2026 20:37

I don't think I know anyone of any age who intends to vote Reform, and that includes the people I chat with in shops while waiting at the tills in the interminable queues, and the lovely woman who comes in once a week to clean the floors here because I can no longer bend to do it. (She thinks Farage is a con-artist.)

Well hell, I never thought I'd see the day where I'd need my passport to enter a polling place. But on the other hand, I'm not surprised.

Been bringing my passport to polling stations in the UK for all important votes, local and national for ten years now.

Despite the fact that I have a polling card and was a previous town councillor, I was challenged once. I have an Irish accent. Was told that it was just a frequent check. No, it wasn't.

Well, the owner did blow 75 mill on a film about Melania.

LlttledrummergirI · 05/02/2026 08:23

I'm still pissed off that we need to show ID in the UK to vote.
That came from the tories in their efforts to make us Trumpinc lite. Labour should be sorting this out ASAP.

Igotjelly · 05/02/2026 09:48

Every single thing I see about the Epstein files gets more depraved. How on earth is it not plastered all over the mainstream media. Yes in the UK Mandelson is a big story but only so far as it relates to his political misconduct and implications for the PM.

RedTagAlan · 05/02/2026 13:05

Has Trump gone AWOL ?

Nothing much about him in the news. Just a fantastic phone call with his bestie pal Uncle Xi.

Getting work done (chin tuck perhaps) ? Or maybe a 2nd honeymoon with Melania after her film ?

He's busy at the National Prayer Breakfast. Talking about God himself.

Trump at National Prayer Breakfast: "They rigged the second election. I had to win it. I needed it for my own ego. I would've had a bad ego for the rest of my life. Now I really have a big ego. Beating these lunatics was incredible ... The first time they said I didn't win the popular vote. I did"

So the magic laying on of hands. So tomorrow there will be tariffs against African nations for not being Christian enough, and bombs in Nigeria.
