A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Anyone see Steve Reed on Good Morning Britain today (think it was about 8.30am) as he tried to stick up for Starmer - he got so angry and rude too. Well worth a watch.

I heard him on the radio talking about Starmer’s ‘rational choice’ in choosing sleazy Mandelson. What an idiot.

Rational choice choosing someone he knew was friends with a convicted paedophile. Right.

No, they didn't. From still trying to unravel the Supreme court ruling on sex, the grooming gangs, letting in dangerous undocumented migrants and pretending it is racist to notice their crimes against women and girls...the list is endless

All of this it what happens when people are promoted beyond their abilities. I hope others are taking note. Time to stop with the lowered entry requirements / qualifications and experience, this is what we get.

Rayner has done well to pull herself up, given her background, but it doesn’t mean she’s competent for the job. Labour just don’t seem to understand what competence is, these days. Citing Tory scum, partying in Ibiza, suspicious housing issues in her constituency, and tax dodging - not ideal.

They can only pick Streeting or Mahmood, surely.

Edited

Mahmood will be shredded by the left.

The back benches will make the wrong decision and they will get Rayner.

Just my hunch.

I don’t think it’ll be Mahmood either or Streeting, the left will want Rayner, and if they lose to the Greens MPs on the left will be emboldened as per post Caerphilly.

If he lasts until that by-election that is.

Even Labour aren’t that thick are they?

ARE THEY?

JC (..) maybe they are. If they do something like that, I was going to say they’d be even more repellent than they are currently. But it’d be worse than that. They’d be opening the door for reform even further, wide with a door stop. Surely they must see that. Surely.

Yes, it seems like the stakes on Gorton and Denton are ratcheting higher and higher. A green win would definitely usher in the left-left,

Yes.

I really can’t see why any woman would vote for Labour. Or the Greens or the Lib Dem’s.

One (of many) problems Labour has, particularly on the left, is that they cling to a romantic notion that the country is impressed by a working class Labour figure. If that were ever true it’s long gone. Most people who would identify as working class want a job, money, and better prospects for their children. They hate scroungers and freeloaders. They hate being patronised.

Rayner is not a representative of a downtrodden class and she does not appeal to low income hard workers. She’s a union/Labour machine product. She’s also an appalling hypocrite with her two jobs. Labour’s deluding itself if it thinks she’s some working class totem and vote winner.

@Parsley4321 it's insane isn't it?

I'm sure this goes on at every level and at some point, I'm sure this culture feeds into private organisations. It shouldn't - but look at how many nonsensical things the public sector have come up with that then gradually creep into the private sector...

I watched a bit of Robert Jenrick on Triggernometry - it was surprisingly dull so I didn't watch the whole thing. Interestingly, he did not blame the civil service as much as I was expecting him to. But I suppose he has to keep them on side! He made a valid point about leadership - but they are such a slow machine, I would've thought even the best leadership would just get lost in the weeds. I get the sense they are a real problem.

Re Starmer and who is next- To a large extent, it doesn't make any difference who is in charge.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in the UK and it's quite frightening. It may be applicable to other countries as well.

It just feels like massive incompetence and chaos against a background of people who are too worried about abstract things and think that someone else is magically in charge of keeping us fed, watered and having the lights on.

‘Starmer’s apologists claim the vetting process was defective. This is a piece of nonsense deployed by the likes of Streeting. The truth is that the PM should have had no need of any vetting in the first place because Mandelson’s utter unsuitability for high office was blindingly obvious even to the pigeons in Parliament Square. The fact that the PM still went ahead is further proof of his bad judgment – and I would say his lack of moral discernment – in a prime ministership littered with disastrous decisions. It is absurd to claim that he was ‘betrayed’.’

‘Here is a man who, more than any other politician in recent decades, has taken politics into the sewer. But he wasn’t some irrelevant, rotten backbencher. He was a pillar of New Labour.’

STEPHEN GLOVER: Blair, Brown and Starmer nurtured this monster

The downfall of Peter Mandelson is an immense event in British politics. This bad, and now disgraced, man has been a key figure in the Labour Party for over 30 years.

There’s history in the Labour Party of odd standards.
Mandy and Cherie Blair were guests of those well known socialists the Rothschilds during a shooting weekend which also included Saif Gaddafi.
Somehow this was leaked to the press and all Mandy and Cherie cared about was informing the public that they had not been out shooting.
No problem about spending time with a terrorist.

DancingFerret · 05/02/2026 12:10

The gig is up when spoof videos like this appear. Starmer needs to go - and go quietly if he hopes to preserve whatever dignity he has left.
