A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I noticed that when I watched the recording on YouTube this afternoon. That’s partly why I said Starmer was terrified. It wasn’t the natural nerves of a difficult announcement or of a speech on an emotional occasion that a speech-giver worries might strike the wrong note. It was terror.

Starmer can see a lifetime’s ambition crumbling into dust in the most grubby fashion. He will be the PM that achieved nothing, that failed horribly, that was thrown out by his own party in squalid circumstances.

I might have felt sorry for him. But I think he’s a nasty little shit. So I don’t.

Love the way with words 😬. Yep

DancingFerret · 04/02/2026 20:58

Apparently, John Smith, the Labour Party leader who died in 1994, lost no time in sacking Mandelson. The commentator went on to say, "John knew he was a baddun."

Spot the difference - John Smith recognised Mandelson for what he is and so did Starmer. One of those two had principles.

Beautifully put 👏

This will be his legacy, and its thoroughly deserved.

Love the way with words 😬. Yep

He really doesn't have one redeeming feature

. I've admired certain politicians across the political spectrum all my life even ones getting annihilated towards the end.

TheNuthatch · 04/02/2026 21:06

The revelations about secret meetings with Palantir, and Epstein links with Russia could be another massive can of worms yet to explode.

A Labour rebellion is brewing re who gets to decide what information is released on the Mandleson vetting etc. Starmer wants tight control, some Labour MPs want the Parliament's Intelligence and Security Committee to decide. Which i think is in line with the Tories etc.

Rayner is speculated to be part of that rebellion.

Remind me has she paid her tax bill yet?

Rayner - God help us!

That CANNOT be allowed to happen. It would be a national crisis from which there could be no recovery. Can she even read?

Sarahconnor1 · 04/02/2026 21:25

That is my concern. As awful as starmer is there are very limited options to replace him and Rayner does seem to be on manoeuvres

redange · 04/02/2026 22:01

Rumors, that Starmer is thinking of resigning tonight. I don't know what I want to happen Lammy, Raynor and Milliband fill me with absolute terror. If Starmer had anything about him or anything about the stability and the standing of the United Kingdom he would call a 'General Election' . These, revelations are not restricted to Mandleson but link in those in the Cabinet who did inform the public about any grave doubts they should have had. Thus, It is now untenable for this Government in any form to govern the Country, they have lost any moral legitimacy that they are governing in the interest of the people. The, only way out of this mess is for a new Government to be formed.

redange · 04/02/2026 22:04

We are also likely to have a Governing Party that will be polling in single figures, meaning in effect the Government is a Dictatorship...

Rayner, our saviour! Did you actually hear it? She made the point. The deserved credit is Kemi’s, but the centrist media will herald Ange!

redange · 04/02/2026 22:07

Why didn't Cabinet Ministers 'resign' in relation to the appointment of Mandelson to US Ambassador when they must have had info on him !

redange · 04/02/2026 22:08

UK Ambassador to the US ....

I’m suspicious of this.

Lammy, Rayner and Millibrain - it’s like staring into the abyss. Terrifying. We’ll be a banana republic within a month. Well, if we haven’t already been sold to China, that is.

Because Starmer’s governs without legitimacy!

If he resigns, will the Chagos deal quietly disappear?

I doubt it. But a PM who’s not a metropolitan left-wing middle-class lawyer might boot Hermer as Attorney General and reconsider that shabby sell-out. Here’s hoping.

If all tomorrow's papers, The Guardian is most brutal.

Oh no, the Guardian will have to join the BBC on the right wing naughty step. 😁

Yeah. Sure.

This drip release of the Epstein files, how much is left I wonder.

DancingFerret · 04/02/2026 23:42

Slightly O/T, but I can't help thinking about the King reportedly imploring his warring sons not to make his final years a misery, little realising the real horror is his brother Andrew.

People will say the royals and their advisers knew, and know, much more about Andrew's activities than they'll ever admit, but who knows?

The curse of Epstein is international and I think what has been revealed to date is the tip of a Titanic-sized iceberg. The indications are there's much more to come and many more prominent entities to be dragged into the mire.

Everyone out peddling this morning.

The MPs might think they can still sell Labour on the radio media rounds but Starmer faces Kemi next week after he answered so many times no to the ISC. He is severely weakened.

One more push and hopefully he will fall.

Next up, I would be happy with Rayner.
