A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

He has a lot to feel defeated about though, doesn’t he? As is normal for his roughshod governing strategy, he oversaw the appointment of Mandleson, by way of overriding whatever level of vetting Mandleson what subject to. Because McSweeny wanted it and McSweeny gets what McSweeny wants.

As he said when asked by Kemi Badenoch, “of course I trust Morgan McSweeny, he helped me win the election”. So for now McSweeney stays in post and as always Starmer does his infamous “there’s nothing to see here” act.
How much longer can this go on?

Keir Starmer reiterated his full confidence in Morgan McSweeney, his chief of staff, during Prime Minister’s Questions on February 4, 2026, stating: “Of course I have confidence. Morgan McSweeney is an essential part of my team. He helped me change the Labour Party and win an election.”

😂😂😂😂🙈🙈🙈🙈 You couldn’t make it up. Yes yes please here let me sign my own death warrant.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 04/02/2026 16:50

Have caught up with PMQs.

Starmer looked frightened and paralysed. He couldn’t even brazen out the national security and international relations fig leaves with any conviction.

I agree with previous posters: he’s a shrunken, defeated figure. He has the air of a CEO who’s crashed the company after 18 months and is half-heartedly making excuses. He knows that his sacking is inevitable but he wants to be able to say it was someone else’s fault when he interviews for a new job.

That sounded like the real Starmer, the only unscripted part. Weak and craven and relying on McSweeney.

How on earth have that Palestine Action lot been found not guilty?! I have no words.

Starmer had nothing. Just a jumble of excuses. Mandelson had lied about the depth and extent of his relationship with Epstein. Well, maybe he had but that’s hardly the point. You knew he had been hanging out with him long after his conviction and you weren’t bothered.

😂😂🙈🙈

Evening all.
What a day in parliament. I'm a very happy tory tonight. Kemi's tone was perfect at PMQs. Excellent work again from her and the shadow front bench.
It was good to see so many Labour MPs tell Starmer where he could shove his ammendment, trying to save his own lying skin. He's finished.

Rayner was not shy parking her tanks on Starmer's lawn today. She looked like she meant business today.

Did anyone watch the Labour party political broadcast? It was basically a why not to vote for Reform broadcast. They even wheeled out some poor sod with a terminal illness (who has since died) to praise the NHS.

Good piece

The looks on the faces of the entire Labourfrontbench said it all. They may have all long ago deleted their social media posts from last year calling Mandy an inspired Washington appointment, but their consciences weren’t so easily cleared. They all had the air of quiet desperation. People whose memories had come back to haunt them like a curse. They stared into the middle distance, trying not to catch anyone’s eye. Anything to get through the next half hour.

Labour forced into humble pie address over Mandelson disclosures | John Crace

Quiet air of desperation on government benches as Peter Mandelson’s links with Jeffrey Epstein consume the Commons

Starmer can fuck off. There is no sliding scale of acceptability for being best mates with a convicted paedophile.

The gig is up Starmer. Just start packing.

No I haven't seen it, and I'm glad I haven't, reading your account of it. Morons.

There is footage from PMQs showing Starmers hands visably shaking when he is answering questions about Mandelson.

He knows how serious this is.

Great article.
All this from the Guardian really does dismiss the myth that its all the right wing media's fault. Starmer and his govt are despised across the board.

Yep apart from the usual lot who are blind to this most can see Starmer is despised and Labour is flailing. Oh well they can enjoy their party’s downfall.

Well Tony Blair sacked him. He's been bad for decades. They could have googled him, for heavens sake made up their own minds queried it in cabinet. Maybe some did and were shot down. Which makes things even worse for STARMER.

Clearly even Labour MPs no longer trust or follow Starmer.
It really is just a small (and shrinking) group on MN still defending him. If this Mandelson stuff doesn't cross a red line, nothing will.

Yep there’s so few now cheering Starmer and co on. Odd but not surprising.

It’s great to see him fumble and under fire.

Yep. Everybody over the age of 20 knew who and what Mandelson was when he was given the ambassador job. It was all there for anyone who cared to look.
Starmer claiming that Mandy lied to his team doesn't hold water.

I noticed that when I watched the recording on YouTube this afternoon. That’s partly why I said Starmer was terrified. It wasn’t the natural nerves of a difficult announcement or of a speech on an emotional occasion that a speech-giver worries might strike the wrong note. It was terror.

Starmer can see a lifetime’s ambition crumbling into dust in the most grubby fashion. He will be the PM that achieved nothing, that failed horribly, that was thrown out by his own party in squalid circumstances.

I might have felt sorry for him. But I think he’s a nasty little shit. So I don’t.
