A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Soggy toast drop!

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 12:22

Nice amendment from Kemi. Up to Labour MPs if they want to cover up information.

Upstartled · 04/02/2026 12:23

Liz Saville up, turning the knife on Starmer, telling him to step down. Remember when he called her stupid? 😙

God he’s hopeless I never listen it’s too much.

Upstartled · 04/02/2026 12:40

Upshot, Starmer knew that Mandy and Epstein were still mates after his peadophile conviction when he made him ambassador.

SpaceRaccoon · 04/02/2026 13:00

Sorry, I keep subject changing I know, but I had an unusual emotion today - gratitude that we only have to suffer Starmer and not Pedro Sánchez - fucking hell.

Am I right in thinking it was the SNP that reported Mandelson to the police?

CruCru · 04/02/2026 13:00

God, that PMQ was almost painful to watch.

Upstartled · 04/02/2026 13:10

Yes, the SNP seem to have pulled the trigger. Yes, every time I read about Pedro Sánchez, I shudder a bit more at the polling for the Greens.

Right wingers with share tokens?

😂😂

EmeraldRoulette · 04/02/2026 13:55

Will see PMQs later, or the bits I can stomach

@SpaceRaccoon i've long said that the reason the Tories didn't process applications is they are planning to do the same thing here. It will be all across Europe.

I have totally made an assumption about what you might be referring to though 😂 apologies if it's something else completely.

No you're completely right, sorry I wasn't intentionally cryptic there! Thank you for clarifying my post.

Was it my imagination or did Starmer have an air of defeat about him today?

Kemi wasn't giving ground on his responses and kept the pressure on - and I don't think I've ever heard him stutter quite as much as he did today. (One of his many nicknames is Stammer, with good reason, but today he appeared to be really struggling with his delivery.)

It was good to hear questions raised about Morgan McSweeney's involvement in the Mandelson scandal.

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 14:51

Yes he sounded defeated and his own MPs might rebel on his amendments which is good. Kemi doing well there.

The Morgan McSweeney answer was the only heartfelt and sincere one, he owes his power and hide in general to him and it shows.

peacefulpeach · 04/02/2026 14:55

Ref looking defeated.. He’s brought it all on upon himself, but who on earth would want to be 2TK right now. He’s just so crap at his job, no one likes him, he has a couple of serious personal issues, and the ongoing scandal and sleaze around his government is never ending.

I think he’d be glad to get chucked out / resign. Assume he’ll still get his yearly ‘salary’ and lifelong protection. So win for him. His sister might be annoyed when he wants his 2mill townhouse back.

Just not ideal for us plebs ofc, his replacement will be worse. Urgh

Sarahconnor1 · 04/02/2026 15:42

A Labour rebellion is brewing re who gets to decide what information is released on the Mandleson vetting etc. Starmer wants tight control, some Labour MPs want the Parliament's Intelligence and Security Committee to decide. Which i think is in line with the Tories etc.

Rayner is speculated to be part of that rebellion.

Remind me has she paid her tax bill yet?

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 15:44

It looks like Kemi got them to rebel, good on her

Rayner and Labour MPs force Starmer to relinquish control of Mandelson files
Parliament’s intelligence and security committee will decide which material can be released, instead of the Cabinet Office

He has a lot to feel defeated about though, doesn’t he? As is normal for his roughshod governing strategy, he oversaw the appointment of Mandleson, by way of overriding whatever level of vetting Mandleson what subject to. Because McSweeny wanted it and McSweeny gets what McSweeny wants.

As he said when asked by Kemi Badenoch, “of course I trust Morgan McSweeny, he helped me win the election”. So for now McSweeney stays in post and as always Starmer does his infamous “there’s nothing to see here” act.
How much longer can this go on?

How publicly minded of her 😁🍿🍿

Cheaper than this:

At this rate, there will be plenty left over to pay off tax bills.

I love that even the Labour MPs didn’t buy his let my mate the Cabinet Secretary do this. Tg for that

Rayner might be on manoeuvres, I’m still here for Starmer’s squirming ;

CruCru · 04/02/2026 16:21

The Labour MPs sat in silence while KB was asking about Mandelson. Never a good look.

For sure. He's not getting out that easy. Even the most ambitious puppeteer wouldn't let Starmer off the strings until he can fall on the sword and take the heat for piss poor locals in May.

Upstartled · 04/02/2026 16:25

What is, 'Starmer is completely fucked' in Danish? Or Welsh?

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 16:26

😀 couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

It’s cake plus Diet Coke delivered in return 😬

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 16:28

If he goes someone should send him a care package with that in it.
