Steve Baker was quite annoyed about the original statement Trump made on NATO - don’t know how I saw the clip where a US Barbie was defending it on an interview - a link on a MN thread I think- not sure if he’ll accept this ‘not the U.K.’ rubbish or if he will then decide Reform is a good home - not sure he’s quite as bad as all the rejects so far but that is as I heard he does work well for his constituents. Has Francois gone yet?
This ‘I didn’t mean the U.K.’ is even more revolting to me than the initial statement, but I expect it plays to those who are faux ‘patriots’ - I do however think Nige is treading a fine line there with many, especially those related to service men and women - wish he’d fall off it, but he never seems to.
I actually think this could be a chance to reorganise the Tory party back into one nation conservatives with better MPs - let Reform be Reform and put a big space between the two. Unfortunately, I doubt this can happen under Kemi and I doubt they have enough ok MPs anyway to do this.

I would love to know where the cluster outbreaks where in the UK.

This response mentions 'areas such as Hackney'

From the Reform press conference going on right now:

Q: What happened to the Labour defector that you were meant to unveil last week?

Farage says this has not happened yet, but it will happen. He says Reform UK is talking to a number of people who have held senior positions in Labour.

DuncinToffee · 26/01/2026 17:41

Nice that there is again live coverage of something Farage Hmm

Massive overhaul of England and Wales policing announced

YouGov says that 71% of Britons would support the creation of a national police service that tackled issues such as fraud and organised crime, one of a set of police reforms announced by home secretary Shabana Mahmood today

Given that no one but Nigel will ever lead Reform, you do find yourself wondering what the latest crop of Tory rejects are thinking they will end up as.

Or are they genuinely that dim ?

Hopefully as former MPs voted out by the electorate.

Though they are thinking cabinet posts.

Farage claims Trump never meant to insult British troops, and ICE victim in Minneapolis shouldn't have been there with gun

Farage can take a long walk off a short pier. Fucking ignorant bastard.

If someone in politics is happy to settle at mere minister, then I would question their ambition for the country.

Yes, I am aware there is a paradox there.

E2A: In a political party, you can always spin the line about "happy to serve" in the safe knowledge that in reality you could get to lead.

But in the Farage Fan Club we know (although it's not a given that Jenrick or Braverman do) that only Nigel will ever be leader. So basically they have settled to serve in hell rather than rule in heaven.

I think Birmingham was a big one.

You think?

Birmingham is huge. Can you say where specifically?

Which part of Hackney, it's a large part of London. MPs are for North Diane Abbot and south Meg Hillier?

It'll come as no alarm and no surprises

That's a good policy to introduce. I do like Shabana Mahmood.

Depends if it's as sclerotic and inefficient as the National "How many apps have you got" Health Service.

Anyone who answers no to this question will automatically be be banished. By order of the one in charge.

Of course he'll say that he'd no idea that the person was unsuitable.

I think that may have been newsnight one day last week. I remember watching it too.

LittleBowSheep · 26/01/2026 18:39

No surprise at all to see Braverman jump, the only surprise is that it took her so long.

I'm happy to see all the losers clubbing together. Each detection dilutes Reform and the more and more it becomes Tory2.

But that photo of the two of them cuddling up together is just stomach churning.

DuncinToffee · 26/01/2026 17:32

IIRC from looking this up last year on an anti vax thread I think there are very few areas of the U.K. that have a 95%+ level of vaccination that would prevent a sustained outbreak.

I’d imagine the areas with a high proportion of immigrants will get mentioned a lot more than say the areas around Steiner schools.

I am frustrated that we had a Brexit referendum to avoid this and we could have just ditched them all to ukip/Brexit party/reform anyway.

It just came to me randomly that they think they will be part of ‘the greatest government that Britain ever had’ and they will finally be feted and rewarded, even just in cabinet, as is their due.
Also occurs to me that they think they will get cabinet positions and their fantasies (‘dreams’) of being horrifically cruel to certain people and paying back others will come to pass.
Trumpian I guess will be the word.
This of course will never happen for many reasons - not least because it was sold to them by a nasty, low life snake oil salesman and they were stupid enough to believe it.

They are basically replacing Johnson with Farage.
