There are calls for a local by election in my area now.

Quoting 82% of people rejected Reform at the ballot box so they shouldn’t have a Reform MP they didn’t vote for.

Good. Hopefully they will start a recall petition.

Oh it’ll be a good day the day we wave Braverman goodbye (and good riddance!)

IIRC from looking this up last year on an anti vax thread I think there are very few areas of the U.K. that have a 95%+ level of vaccination that would prevent a sustained outbreak.

I’d imagine the areas with a high proportion of immigrants will get mentioned a lot more than say the areas around Steiner schools.

I agree with this.

In a surprise move, Chris Mason is joining in the joy with Suella.

Are they singing 'ice ice baby'?

DS2 has been chanting "Ice Ice Baby" for the past few days and I've been unable to resist replying "Green Green Baby." Of course, he has no idea what I'm talking about and corrects my mistake. Deliberately getting things wrong is on brand for his sense of humour but he just looks at me like I've grown 2 heads when I do it.

I've had that ear worm in my head for days now.

www.itv.com/news/2026-01-26/suella-braverman-defects-to-reform

Braverman said the Conservative Party had "left the building" and that Tories no longer represented the values she believed in when she joined the party.
“If the party you joined no longer reflects the values and principles that it once did, you should question your allegiance. If the party keeps breaking its promises, you should question your loyalty," she told reporters.
“And now too many promises lie in tatters. Too much damage has been done, and I no longer trust the Conservative Party.

This along with the rest of her speech got me thinking.

She definitely said the quiet part out loud, because a party reflects the views and attitudes of those within it.

Johnson purged the party leaving the likes of Braverman to set the values. She was part of the change she doesn't like, but that is going to go with her (and the rest that jumped). She was part of the group that set the tone and direction for the party. Any party she joins and is given a voice in will go in the same direction.

To claim otherwise is disingenuous, so she has started her reform career by lying to the public. Start as you mean to go on I suppose.

Welcome news

Ground rents will be capped at £250 a year for around five million leasehold homes in England & Wales.

Welcome news indeed - also good to see that the media circus around Burnham seems to have abated - at least for the time being

PandoraSocks · 27/01/2026 09:42

Yes, the circus around Braverman and that atrocious, now withdrawn, statement took the focus away from Burnham.

Bad luck Kemi, maybe try not to be so spiteful next time. Because there will be a next time!

Looks as though they would have the cinema to themselves.🤣

I thought it quite telling that Farage said they needed people like Braverman for the experience they had in government & show them how it works.

If your strategy relies on Braverman or Jenrick, then you are well fucked. Aned I suspect the less gullible Reform supporters have twigged that.

I am reminded of a company I worked for back in the noughties. It was a complex brew of startups that had spun out of the UKs fintech sector. Not long before it went bust a new director started. A colleague in my team advised me to ensure my cv was up to date as this person had worked at 2 other companies my colleague had, and each one had gone bust. (A prediction which proved prescient)

This is an interesting opinion piece from Justine Greening. However, I think the trust in Badenoch is more a plea rather than a belief.

It is starting to look like Reform is Golgagafrinchan Ark B.

I refuse to picture Farage in the bath with his rubber dick.
