Date of Gorton and Denton by-election announced = Thursday 26th February

Chilly days for the hustings and door knocking.

That statement is now in the media, it goes on to say:

There are some people who are MPs because they care about their communities and want to deliver a better country. There are others who do it for their personal ambition. Suella stood for leader of the Conservatives in 2022 and came sixth, behind Kemi [Badenoch] and Tom Tugendhat. In 2024 she could not even muster enough supporters to get on the ballot. She has now decided to try her luck with Nigel Farage, who said last year he didn’t want her in Reform. They really are doing our ‘Spring cleaning’!😬

Edited

They have retracted the first part

Thats not a retraction - they haven’t taken the suggestion of MH issues back.
They’ve just deleted the sentence several hours after everyone has seen it.
classic.

I am reminded of the magnet in cars sumps that catches all the crap at the bottoms.

So this is basically Reform, right now? (it's a central heating one but we have one of them new fangled electric cars and it's still bloody cold out there) The weird and ugly thing on the wall that serves a useful purpose.

Yep, it is out there in full and has been roundly trashed.

Strictly 2026 announced ?

BIossomtoes · 26/01/2026 12:22

That was only a matter of time. Commiserations @itsgettingweird, you now have a Reform MP.

Yes I was mightily peeved but not surprised

Farage claims Trump never meant to insult British troops, and ICE victim in Minneapolis shouldn't have been there with gun

So because Nigel wasn't offended, the rest of the UK needs to move on ?

Farage can go fuck himself with a file.

Notonthestairs · 26/01/2026 16:30

So Farage doesn't believe in the 2nd amendment? Am sure that will make him popular in the US.

Presumably Farage also mentioned that -

a) Alex Pretti's (legal) gun wasn't at any point unholstered by Alex. The only thing he held in his hand was his phone; and

b) Alex Pretti had been disarmed when he was shot ten times.

Very sloppy of him to not mention those things.

Or just more disinformation.

That's a typical abuser statement. As in I didn't mean to call you a useless [insert awful words here].

Did he do it in an interview or by diktat ?

Even my left foot would immediately fire back:

"Can you tell the British public why you feel the need to apologise for Donalt Trump ?". Leaving space for Nigel to correct my left foot that it wasn't an apology, before making that point myself.

But he's clearly rattled by it. Are Nige doesn't like having to respond.

Vote who and how you like.

But for fucks sake own it when it goes titsup. Unless of course you wanted Brexit to be the shambles it is, and for 2019-2024 to be the British equivalent of the Year of Four Emperors.

I didn’t vote for Brexit. I just want the best for this country.

Whilst I concur, not everyone does.
