I drove past an asylum hotel near me that is being run by the MOD and is only housing Afghan families who have a family member who helped the British in Afghanistan. Hung right outside the gate (upside down) was a St George’s flag with Save Our Kids on it 🤢

I actually shed a few tears I feel ashamed of what this country has become.

That is awful. I am honestly afraid of where this is all going.

PandoraSocks · 26/01/2026 10:33

Penguin tax to hopefully make you smile

Suella Braverman defects to Reform UK. Quelle surprise.

BIossomtoes · 26/01/2026 12:22

That was only a matter of time. Commiserations @itsgettingweird, you now have a Reform MP.

SHOCKING 😮

Bit of a post Christmas gift to Badenoch.

Notonthestairs · 26/01/2026 12:24

How many times was Braverman sacked? Twice?

What was it Farage said ?

Reform is not a lifeboat for failed Tories.

E2A: Nice of her to take the Burnham story down briefly.

PandoraSocks · 26/01/2026 12:26

She will fit in nicely. Sorry for you though @itsgettingweird

So the Labour defector was pure fantasy.

Notonthestairs · 26/01/2026 12:27

I mean I really want a politician that leaks security documents.

What took her so long?

placemats · 26/01/2026 12:34

It's the big Monday deflection reveal day for Reform! Ohh who could it be?

Suella Braverman.

Stoney silence.

BestIsWest · 26/01/2026 12:34

More Reformatories then (Thanks!).

Evenstar · 26/01/2026 12:37

Cat tax definitely a Monday feeling here

Regarding Braverman, Andrew Sparrow, the Guardian wrote:

"Making a surprise appearance at a press conference in London"

I wish Pritti Patel would go Reform too. I don't like to criticise how a person looks (especially a woman) but the sneers on her face at recent PMQ's really irritate me. You can see her character from her expression and it is not a good one.

Not that I want Reform to do well. I am in Scotland & it will be interesting to see how our elections go in May. I feel certain the SNP will win (again..) but it's who comes second that will matter more I think?

Patel was grilled on this on Lewis Goodall's show on his Sunday show. She was absolutely adamant that she wouldn't defect.

So watch out for her defecting next Monday.

MsJinks · 26/01/2026 13:13

Cruella did so well in her Home Office stint in the Tories she will be welcomed I’m sure - hmm. Probably it’s actually her obvious pleasure in removals and her (less than King like) ‘I dream of…’ statement.
Think Reform are making mistake after mistake here - but I’m all for them being the failed Tory charity!

Ah the lady who argued with Hislop on capital punishment- saying that you can always rectify mistakes if they are made.
Not sure if her intelligence will take her to a defection or not.

PandoraSocks · 26/01/2026 13:18

I don't think Patel will defect. I don't like her, but she is not as odious as Braverman.

I forgot about that!

DuncinToffee · 26/01/2026 13:19

Didn't Braverman's husband leave Reform because of the racist comments directed at her?

Reform, the Tory retirement home

Mr Braverman just posted this:

Britain faces a moment of profound choice. We need courage, honesty, and fundamental change. I believe Reform UK are the only party that will deliver it.

That is why I am joining Reform UK.

MsJinks · 26/01/2026 13:27

Ugh. I nearly didn’t watch the 2024 GE results for concern over seeing too much Frogface. This line up he’s curating might just tip me to a ‘not this time’ in 2029 - though I still don’t think he’ll maintain the trajectory required (or the work/boredom).

placemats · 26/01/2026 13:41

A thought just occurred that the much touted but now forgotten Labour figure defection could have been Andrew Gwynne. 😐
