The moguls are so funny to watch but I wouldn't want to do them myself, I like my innards staying in place. Not that I know how to ski Grin

Ski jump is amazing and speed skating is my favourite winter olympics sport.

I did a few ski seasons in The Alps. Now motels and a snowboard - that’s a terrifying yet exhilarating stomach churner!

As for Starmer. I don’t think he was aware. I don’t think he should go - not necessarily because I don’t think he’s made bad decisions - he clearly has.

But that this has become trial by RW media and there’s many
more who are directly involved who will swoop in where the gaps are left (eg farage) and get away Scot free.

The one thing boiling my piss the most atm is the complete double standards.

Yes, the last thing that should happen is compromising the investigation into Mandelson with the ambassador appointment issue.

Thanks Placemats, I will have a read. I am currently collecting loo roll innards for sweetpeas. When is the best time to sow them if starting them off indoors? Any particular varieties you'd recommend?

You can start them now. Sweat pea love a bit of warmth and cold. And they thrive being tucked in together.

"How to Make and Use Toilet Roll Seed Pots
Gather Supplies: Collect empty toilet paper tubes, high-quality seed-starting compost or soil, seeds, a waterproof tray (a plastic take-out container or a seed tray works well), and a small watering can or spray bottle.

Prepare the Rolls: You have two main options for preparing the tubes:
Simple Tube: Use the whole roll as is, placing the tubes tightly together in a tray to keep them upright.main options for preparing the tubes:

Folded Base: Cut four even slits (about 1/2 inch deep) around one end of the roll. Fold these flaps inward to create a closed base, like folding a cardboard box."

Hope that helps.

Regarding varieties go with the colour seeds. Variety of colour is always beautiful and will reward you with delight and scent.

I don't know if Starmer should or will go or not (never really understood why he wanted to be leader of the party/pm.)

I've always liked Streeting since I first came across him. But me liking someone is a poor indicator of them succeeding. He's also a bit Gavin Newsom in his profile and perceived ambition.

I love the Winter Olympics and will be watching a lot as need the distraction at the minute. My favourite is the biathlon - the stamina of skiing cross country though often appealing scenery (hope they don't just use a boring circuit) and then having to lower your heart rate to do the shooting - it's so impressive.

PandoraSocks · 05/02/2026 08:09

There are some very bored knobs around.

Nobbystyles · 05/02/2026 08:11

Don’t fret - I doubt things will remain boring for long.

It could prove another interesting day….

PandoraSocks · 05/02/2026 08:20

Not worth it.

Nobbystyles · 05/02/2026 08:22

It’s not.

Notonthestairs · 05/02/2026 08:22

Not sure Alpha is the word.

Very true! I guess we will get a few more knobs visiting if (probably when?) Starmer stands down.

Notonthestairs · 05/02/2026 08:27

But will they create a new username just for the purpose I wonder?

LlttledrummergirI · 05/02/2026 08:35

Maybe I'm an outlier here, but I don't think Starmer should go at the moment. There was a fuck up, possibly his, but has he swept it under the carpet like the previous 3 PMs? No. Has he tried to hide it? No. Is he passing the back? No.

What he is doing is being open and transparent. We are all human, and we are all capable of putting our trust in the wrong person, particularly is Starmer is being honest when he says Mandelson lied during vetting. Our parliament was built around honour, and honesty, and has seemingly little recourse for when these values fail

I'll wait for the documents, and the evidence and the facts and next steps before calling for his head.

They all follow the same pattern but they might forget in their excitement, that has happened before.

I tend to agree with this. I've read that Mandelson underwent DV checks for the US ambassador role. From experience this is a very tough level of vetting and if that didn't turn up any skeletons in the cupboard then the appointment should have been safe. The interesting thing to me is that either the vetting looks to have failed or the vetting findings were ignored. I think that only in the latter case heads should roll.

PandoraSocks · 05/02/2026 08:55

The thing that might bring Starmer down is that he said yesterday he knew Mandelson had remained friends with Epstein after Epstein's first conviction. I suppose a lot will hinge on what Mandelson said about that.

I'd actually like Starmer to stay.

PandoraSocks · 05/02/2026 08:59

The dogs bark but the caravan moves on

True. The rw dogs can bark as much as they like. The Labour government will remain in place. Thankfully.

And thé LW dogs?

Do they get an honourable mention?

Oh the irony. It’s delicious.

BIossomtoes · 05/02/2026 09:05

Sorry but I think it’s the end for him. If there was a strong track record it would be different but there have been so many missteps. It looks as if Starmer’s lost the support of the parliamentary party now and that’s a fatal wound. Unfortunately I think he’ll cling on as stubbornly as Corbyn did when ideally he should resign and retain some dignity.

I think you are probably right, sadly.

God knows how all this will end. Hopefully not with Farage as PM.😱

DuncinToffee · 05/02/2026 09:17

Can we just stop this Farage nonsense. The media does enough of the pushing .

Just look at Kent, their flagship.

And as an aside, I think Norbert is a good name for a dog.
