Can I report a thread for being disingenuous?

Edited

You can try but from experience, nothing will happen.

I will try 😃. Thanks @DuncinToffee

Well that was a heartfelt party political broadcast from the Lib Dems. Very positive. I liked it.

I'm not going to join or vote for the party. Acknowledge the good.

It is. Saturday it ends. I know!

And then fucking February - the longest month of the entire year.

The verse '30 Days Hath September' says that January has 31 days. It's a complete lie. January has 74 days but this year it feels more like 157.

countrygirl99 · 28/01/2026 20:01

January is feeling especially long chez MOI as we have a Strangles outbreak at the stables where I keep my horse so life is a constant round of checking my horse for symptoms and a level of disinfection that makes COVID look mundane.

DuncinToffee · 28/01/2026 20:06

The Winter Olympics start on 6th Feb, I get to watch speed skating

OP posts:
RafaistheKingofClay · 28/01/2026 20:10

I love speed skating and curling and biathlon and all the winter sports.

I do not love TNT sports buying up everything.

I had to google strangles - it sounds awful. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Oh don't worry, despite the commonly believed sterotype most veterans aren't daft, they hate the likes of Tommy Two names, many aren't ever going to vote Reform and they'll almost all be cynical enough to recognise a politician leaping on a bandwagon when they see one..

I sense some here feel this is a new issue stirred up by the DT today or Farage but there have been grumbles and concerns about it for years if not decades.

It is a bit odd though that the Telegraph is suddenly digging up something two decades old. Is there an election in the offing?

My feeling is that the Burnham kerfuffle hasn't quite had the hoped for impact and now the rw press is snuffling around for more Starmer/Labour smears.

February is sowing season for me. Also have a DIY list as long as my arm to tackle. Plus the Olympics.

Oh I do hope all goes well for you @countrygirl99 🎉

cardibach · 28/01/2026 23:56

This is the best explanation of month lengths. Accurate.

Thats rather cynical! why on earth would you think that...... 😂

I don't like this ongoing attempt to try and demonise lawful activities ... seems to be a theme.

Is there an expectation that lawyers should swerve some cases because they aren't popular ?

I think what Shiner did deserved to be demonised/criticised. Not only did it drag soldiers who had done nothing through a hellish process, it also poisoned the well a bit as far as prosecuting actual real war crimes that did happen. Like stirring up a pond with a stick. It gets so murky it's harder to see what's actually there.

My assumption would be that the right wing press are suddenly interested in the whole mess now though because it's an attempt to deflect from what Trump said about other NATO soldiers and from the very anaemic response to that from the likes of Farage.

Evenstar · 29/01/2026 09:18

Yes I wonder who radicalised this delightful specimen 🧐

Summer annuals, mainly sweet peas.

Summer annuals, mainly sweet peas.

Respect if you succeed with them. My green fingered granny gave up after repeated attempts, she reckoned they were nigh on impossible. It’s a shame because I love them.

DuncinToffee · 29/01/2026 10:13

We have sweetpeas (my dad gave us some seed many years ago) and they grow everywhere now. Luckily my neighbour loves that they are in her garden now

OP posts:
BIossomtoes · 29/01/2026 10:14

Please tell me the secret - do they only like you if you’re Dutch?

PandoraSocks · 29/01/2026 10:16

I tried sweetpeas last year. None came up.

DuncinToffee · 29/01/2026 10:17

I honestly don't know the secret, they just grow. I am trying hard to contain them but to no avail.

Which direction does you garden face? I might try them in the front garden this year as they definitely didn't approve of the back garden.
