Another person murdered by ICE

I’m in tears and shock at the brutality happening in broad daylight in the US. I’m a US citizen, emigrated to the UK for family reasons 12 years ago (now dual citizen), and I am just in disbelief at what’s happening. I was sick when I learned of Trump’s first election and gravely disappointed by the second one. But the sheer brutality of what’s happening in MN right now has really thrown me. I have friends and family there, in Chicago (where ICE raids were occurring in the autumn), in NY, and in California. I’m hearing that even worse things are happening in the Deep South but fewer observers and press to report on it. Posting here because I feel so lost.

What lies specifically?

Can you explain without shouting?

Random capital letters seems to be a theme with those with opinions like this.

I mean we should probably be praising their ability to find the caps lock on their keyboard…

I haven't heard about a second one but the first woman wasn't murdered.

It's far from clear, imo, that shooting her 3 times in the head was a proportionate response.

What do you think?

JemimaTiggywinkles · 24/01/2026 20:54

I’m honestly astounded that people support Trump. One thing I admired about the US was their attitude towards veterans but they excuse DT’s insults to dead allied soldiers. I also thought the US was proud of their “due process” but now it seems many are fine with summary executions. Truly shocking.

Don't be hasty with your praise. They've just accidentally put their squirrel lunch down on the CAPS key .

It is so shocking that Trump has enabled untrained men with guns to patrol at will on the streets in US. Sadly I am wondering if the fact it was a white man this time will give more people there pause for thought. All very Handmaid's Tale.

untrained men with guns

Come on now! Weren't they were all trained on Call of Duty?

Oh, dear, I am so sorry that you are suffering from blindness, so you are unable to see the truth of the horrendous Gestapo-style actions by ICE on the many real-time videos there are available for all to understand the truth of the Trump-incited thugs' disgusting actions.

Catpuss66 · 24/01/2026 20:59

They are trying to incite violence, once violence happens he can release the national guard or declare war & postpone the midterms.

Exactly this.

Great news! He wasn’t waving a gun around. There’s some footage from multiple angles if you’d like to make a minimal effort to take a look. Still he did still get shot reportedly eight times. So…

This is reported to be the guy by the way, just in case you’d like to try a little bit of humanity on for size.

Imagine expecting due process, and the country’s laws to be followed!

Maga truly is a mental disease.

It's a cult

WhereIsMyLight · 24/01/2026 19:42

She was murdered. Even if we use the ICE arguments of she was a domestic terrorist, then law enforcement are taught in how to apprehend suspects. That isn’t shooting someone in the face three times. If guns are necessary, they should aim for a non-lethal shot if possible. If, as ICE claim, she hit the ICE agent it was at a maximum of 7 mph and even if you believe he was scared there were 3 shots to the face which was far beyond the realm of what is proportional for self defence. One shot to the face is far beyond what is proportional for self defence.

Proportional would have been noting down her plates and arresting her after. At a push, shooting out her tyres. Now, even if the law enforcement misjudged and shot her, he prevented medical assistance reaching her when she was no longer a threat because he shot her in the face three times. Every law enforcement agency works to the idea of preservation of life first and foremost. Or should do anyway.

So let’s see any argument of self defence falls down on proportionality and preservation of life after she was no longer a “threat”.

I can’t imagine how hard it is for you at the minute OP. This is still your home, no matter how long you’ve been here. Watching your home country become unrecognisable and essentially a war zone must be heartbreaking. I hope they manage to find the witnesses who were close to the agents and detained.

I thought the same. If she wouldn’t stop the car shoot the tyres out. Don’t shoot her in the face as your first thought. My daughter said to me ‘why are they making a big deal about her being a lesbian’ why indeed 🤔

I’m not a ‘liberal’. I’m a gender-critical socialist and I’ve been on here for years as same.

Also, even in these very dark days, it still does raise a small smile to see people using a term like ‘clown’ when they support Trump… it’s like when they say Trump Derangement Syndrome with no irony.

I wish MN would allow a block function.

See, I don't agree with this as I think it's important to be subject to different opinions or else you're at risk of occupying an echo chamber.

The sad reality is Trump and Miller are only getting started.

Are you in shock and tears at the murders happening daily in Iran, Syria and Sudan? To name a few.

ChurchWindows · 24/01/2026 21:11

I feel so very sorry for the poor man who was killed and for those who loved him will know forever how how horrific his last moments were.

Shame on anyone who condones this state sanctioned murder.

Yes, he put himself in danger by walking in front of the car twice.

I believe the autopsy shows that he shot once through the windscreen, which I believe, went into her arm, then moved around to the driver side window and shot her in the breast and then the third shot that passed through the left side of her head and out of the right side. The fatal shot was the third, that occurred after he was well out of the way of the, very slow moving, car.

In fact, it was he that turned the car into a dangerous weapon because he rendered it out of control, which is when it was sent speeding down the street.

It is possible to be shocked and appalled by brutality everywhere.
Until recent times I suppose most people hoped for better from America. Not any more though.
