I've just attended my second one and I'm 49.
How many have you attended and how old are you?

Im 60
2 grand parents. I think the others were held when I was away
1 parent
2 Aunts
an ex boyfriend
So 5 I think.
I have a small family and circle of friends, There may be more I’ve missed.

CraftyGin · 22/01/2026 19:54

I'm 61 and I've probably attended about 50 funerals.

Changepassword · 22/01/2026 19:56

I think 14, there could be more that I can't remember, I have 2 more to go to next week. I'm 47.

SwedishEdith · 22/01/2026 19:57

Just done a very quick count and can think of 20 immediately so it's likely to be a bit higher than that. Catholic family though so we "go to funerals". I'm early 60s but had already been to about half a dozen by my mid-20s.

titchy · 22/01/2026 19:57

I’m late 50’s and up to 11. Only 6 were elderly sadly.

billiongulls · 22/01/2026 19:57

Wouldn't be able to count. I'm 61, in Ireland, go to multiple funerals every year.

cornflourblue · 22/01/2026 19:58

Loads. I live in a small community where everyone goes to funerals. I couldn't count how many I've attended.

Madisnttheword · 22/01/2026 19:58

I'm 39 and I've attended 16

CheeseWisely · 22/01/2026 19:59

I’m 42 and I’ve been to 4, I think. 3 grandparents and the husband of a close colleague. Hopefully it’ll be a long while until I go to another.

Ineffable23 · 22/01/2026 20:00

I reckon I have been to about 10 and I am 32.

I can remember 8:
4x great grandparents
2x grandparents
1x uncle
1x friend's parent

And then I reckon there were at least one or two great great uncles when I was little as well.

Sausagedognamedmash · 22/01/2026 20:00

15ish, and I'm 36.

Great grandmother
Grandad
Various great aunts and uncles
Husbands grandparents
A handful of Friends and colleagues.

I am lucky that 3/4 of my grandparents are still alive, however this meant growing up being close to great aunts/uncles etc and sadly being close to elderly people often means a lot of funerals now they are all in their late 80s/90s.

Nursemumma92 · 22/01/2026 20:02

I am 33 and have been to 8- 2 grandparents, 3 family friends, my DH's uncle, my best friend's mum and my sister's.

Edited as I forgot one 🙄

trainkeepsgoing · 22/01/2026 20:02

8, I’m 40.
3 grandparents, 2 friends, 1 colleague, great aunt, a friends dad

dizzydizzydizzy · 22/01/2026 20:02

Late 50s

1970s -1
1980s- 0
1990s - 2
2000s - 1
2010s - 2
2020s - 10

Total 16 (the one in the 2000s was a result of the July 7th London terrororist bombings

MissMarvelMum · 22/01/2026 20:03

I just quickly added them up in my head and got to 17, I think there is a few more I’m missing. So sad. I’m 34. My first was a close friend who died in a road accident when he was 14. I was 15. I try to visit the graves a few times a year, one cemetery I visit 5 graves, another I visit 3. Most of my funerals have been cremations too.

Allbymyself123 · 22/01/2026 20:05

7 & i’m 42. (Parents, grandparents, family friend!)

Justdancinginthedark · 22/01/2026 20:05

I'm from Northern Ireland and 38 and probably 2-3 a year. If I can't make the funeral because of work I'd go to the house for the wake.

tinytinyviolin · 22/01/2026 20:07

In my 40s and I’ve been to 20 I think. I know it’s awful but there may well be one or two I have forgotten. I revised the amount a few times when posting this.

Lots of family but also some friends and relatives of close friends.

PurpleFlower1983 · 22/01/2026 20:08

42, 14 funerals, first at 15, last 2 days before Christmas. Two difficult ones last year, my great Aunt who was like my second mum and a dear work colleague and friend taken too young.

cocopopps75 · 22/01/2026 20:08

6 and thats one child, one guy who sadly took his own life, a friends father, grandparent, stepdad, uncle. I'll also have one coming up shortly.

jackstini · 22/01/2026 20:09

Around 25-30. I’m 53
family, friends’ parents, members of church congregation

MoreEspressoLessDepresso · 22/01/2026 20:09

9 or 10 I think. I lost all my grandparents in a really short amount of time. I'm 32.

RaraRachael · 22/01/2026 20:09

I always keep the order of service from any funeral I attend and every so often I get the box out and look through them. It's nice to remember all the people.

AgnesMcDoo · 22/01/2026 20:10

51 and I can’t remember- a lot

JustAnotherWhinger · 22/01/2026 20:10

Too many to count. I think 21 family funerals.

My Nana was Scottish and my Grandad Irish so as well as family funerals we went to neighbours funerals, funerals of their friends parents etc.

I've also had the privilege of attending 42 funerals the Humanist celebrant taking the funeral.
