I've just attended my second one and I'm 49.
How many have you attended and how old are you?

Nomedshere · 22/01/2026 19:28

I'm 66 and have attended 4...parents, sibling and ds. Won't be attending any more

yeesh · 22/01/2026 19:32

Probably over 100, I’ve worked in social care a long time and always go to the service of clients if I can. It seems like it’s different around the UK though as where I am it’s usual for people to go to the funerals of friends parents, parents friends, colleagues etc so I’m quite surprised by people saying such low numbers.

Mhhk · 22/01/2026 19:33

I’m 45 - been to 10

2 x Great Aunts
1x Great Uncle
3x Grandparents
1 x in-law
1 x elderly friend
1 x cousin
1 x Aunt

I’ve just remembered another one. I’m wondering if people just haven’t remembered. There are a ton of funerals I’ve wanted to attend but haven’t been able to because of work.

MiddleAgedDread · 22/01/2026 19:36

2 - age 48, both friends
3 grandparents died when I was too young to attend, the 4th well, don’t ask about that, I would have gone if my mum hadn’t booked it for the one day I told her I absolutely couldn’t make!

RaininSummer · 22/01/2026 19:38

Only three at 63. Think I am quite lucky there.

ilovepixie · 22/01/2026 19:39

About 12, maybe a couple more. I’m 57.

TonTonMacoute · 22/01/2026 19:39

At least 11, there are possibly one or two I have forgotten about.

I'm mid 60s so the rate is increasing!

Moffett · 22/01/2026 19:40

Gran. Grandad, Uncle, husbands Nana.

I am 40.

grumpymummy72 · 22/01/2026 19:40

18 and I’m 53.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 22/01/2026 19:41

16 that I can think of, I'm 41.

Some of them were for residents of various care settings that i worked in, but I attended because I wanted to, not because we had to.

Tarkan · 22/01/2026 19:43

I’m 44 and I’ve lost count. By the time I was 19 I had already been to 3, one grandparent and two friends. I usually have a few each year now, it’s crazy, and I can’t always make it to them all either.

Spinnertakesitall · 22/01/2026 19:44

Grandparents x 3, great aunt, great uncle x 2 , friend x 2, friend's parents x 3. Loads more where I've either just done the removal or the church. Lost count tbh, I'm Irish, and I'm 32.

sammylady37 · 22/01/2026 19:45

I’d say anywhere between 80-100.
im 46.
I’m also Irish, where we go to the funerals of people we have never met, because we know the bereft.

immediate family- 4
Extended family - 5
friends -1
colleagues -2 (it’ll be 3 tomorrow)
family members of friends- probably 10/12
family members of colleagues- again probably 15-20
patients - 20 or so
neighbours/parents friends -15
others 20

AppropriateAdult · 22/01/2026 19:46

I would think 20-30? I’m 43 and Irish, it’s quite normal to go to the funeral of anyone you have even a tangential relationship to here.

Namechangeyname · 22/01/2026 19:47

12 - I'm 47. Of those, 8 have been for young or middle-aged friends, unfortunately.

RosesAndHellebores · 22/01/2026 19:48

65: 13
The awful ones were those who went far too soon.

NoYourNameChanged · 22/01/2026 19:50

I think 12. I’m 31, so seems to be quite high. Sadly only two were ‘old’, the rest were either friends of me annd/or my husband, so under 35, to accident or suicide, and three were just children, two of those to accidents and one to illness. Unspeakably awful.

BastilleBastille · 22/01/2026 19:51

I’m 32 and have been to 14 funerals. Seems like a lot!

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 22/01/2026 19:52

7, I think.

Both parents, a grandmother, a niece, my ex s grandad, a relative's stillborn baby and a friend's mum.

I'm late 40s.

WanderlustMom · 22/01/2026 19:52

3, I’m 26
My nan, my great auntie and my great nan.
