Trump’s text message to the Norwegian PM

TortoiseshellTabby · 19/01/2026 14:35

“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America."

This is why he’s justified in taking Greenland - apparently. How is this giant man-child in charge of the free world?

Most mumsnetters will be nodding in agreement because they follow mainstream news. As much as Trump is an odious man, a terrible example of a statesman, the things that are happening in USA under his instruction is mind blowing. He is exposing massive (and I mean huge) corruption, in the billions upon billions. He’s getting criminals removed, he’s shut the border, Dr’s are praising him because instead of 10 deaths a day from Fentanyl overdoses, they are reduced to two a day.
Trump has been doing good things behind the scenes for 20/30 years, but
you won’t find any of this on the mainstream news.
also the Kennedy looking after health, is doing more than anyone to stop big pharma, and to stop food company’s from poisoning, and pushing UPF’s.
if you don’t believe this, a Google search should do it.

And where exactly are you getting your news from? X? Facebook? 🤣🤣🤣

How dare you, they’re putting in intense hours of YouTube research from the privacy of their bathroom.

Of course you won’t find this on mainstream news, you’ll find it from your toilet seat!

Snakebite61 · 20/01/2026 18:37

This is why you should never vote reform. Tarred with the same insane brush.

Mabela · 20/01/2026 18:42

You can't make this shit up. This bloke is crazy.

I used to think people like this weren't real but I had dinner with one side of my family who were all talking about how 'strong' Trump looks and how he 'gets things done'. Totally convinced that Renee Good was a terrorist who deserved it.

I'll give you 3 guesses on which 'news channel' they watch, and which human thumb they intend to vote in to power...

As an American, and a lifelong Democrat, he is the single most dangerous threat that has happened to this country, and possibly the world, in modern times.

This has been a long term plan by the Republicans who are backed by billionaires to take over the government of our country. Trump is just the face. He's not the brains.

He wants Greenland because it is the eastern gateway to Artic oil, and rare metals, and China and Russia already control routes to this area. China and Russia either have increased or are attempting to increase their overall land mass, i.e., Singapore and Ukraine. Trump wants to become the Dictator of North America like those leaders are dictators of their own massive areas and increasing land mass is in the dictator playbook. If he is successful, these 3 massive dictatorial superpowers will begin to carve up the world.

If he continues, what he is doing could destroy the North Atlantic Treaty and replace the United Nations. It would leave Europe without a major ally and Putin at the gate. It's hard to take him seriously because he is such a clown, but his backers are billionaires and like all billionaires, for them, there is never enough. In case you didn't know or forgot, he loves Putin.

Trump wants to go to war so he can use the US War Powers Act to stay in office past his term. He has an ersatz "Peace Board" supposedly for Gaza that he is, right this moment, currently stumping in Europe. What it will do is create an alternative to NATO. Macron rebuked it, even Israel rebuked it, and the UK, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, and Canada are not taking part. But Belarus's Lushenko has signed on, and so has Erdogan of Turkey, as have Morocco, and Hungary. What he wants them to sign will gives the power over governing this new organization specifically in Trump's hands for all decisions. Qatar is also included as a signatory along with Argentina and Italy has shown interest.

We should all be afraid, very afraid.

He really doesn’t want those Epstein files released does he (how long has passed now since the legal deadline to release them was ignored?)

This.

I don’t think I’d even need to actually guess!

I saw a post somewhere this morning about things you could say to Trump voters to change their minds but literally - there’s nothing. He’s a convicted sex offender among countless other proven horrific things and they’re fine with it. Either brainwashed enough to think facts aren’t true, or depraved enough to not care.

Dragonflytamer · 20/01/2026 19:20

It does make you question who the level of intelligence of the average American. Who listens to these wittering and thinks - this is a man who know what he is talking about. America has become the laughing stock of the world - do they no release this?

Nonsensical response..you can’t deny what I’ve written

Absolutely can, but it's not worth bothering to. I don't argue with stupid.

FrootyCider · 20/01/2026 19:39

This is the bollocks they're being fed on GBeebies.

Propaganda and lies about (one of) the innocent people ICE has murdered. (30ish deaths so far)

Brown nosing of Trump. One article on what a fool he's being, then we're right back to bashing Starmer (on something Trump agreed to last year) and hitting out at the 'leftys'.

Its a good job a sitting MP isn't being paid substantial amounts of money on that channel to spout propaganda in order to boost ratings for his insidious party.

Oh wait...

I am still suffering from hiccoughs because I laughed so hard at the assertion that "Trump has been doing good things behind the scenes for 20/30 years".

MsJinks · 20/01/2026 19:56

I’ve seen one of Springsteen’s ‘rants’ live - as on that search page - brief, saddening and moderate tone of speech, very clear he finds it all pretty gutting what is going on the US.
He actually asked for just a bit of our time and thanked us for listening. He just thinks American and Americans are better than this.
Lot easier on the ears than that unedited, massive monologue Trump is currently undertaking.
Such blown out of proportion headlines (aka lies)

Part of me is terrified.
But mostly think he’s all bluster.

I blame the world leaders who don’t take the chance to call him out for it ( though I understand why given the small chance he might escalate)
I’m standing firmly behind Norway, they’re showing more courage that Starmer!!!

How can starmer call him out when so much about our country is integrated into the usa? Shared intelligence, that our us jets have a kill button which the usa can control - basically we are too tied to the usa to be able to stand our group against him. It would be damaging for our security - not due to starmer but due to the decades that got us here. Brexit also pushed us away from europe and towards usa - and look at a mess it now is. Scary times !

The UK has an agreement with the US that they are allowed to basically pull out the computer systems and rewire them. So the kill switch, if it exists, isn't a huge threat. The UK would have to spend the money to do that but it's not like building a whole new plane. Moving forward I agree it would be extremely foolish to keep buying American weapons. The planes in particular are a funny one because we build about 15% of them. It's a boost for the UK defence industry but it has already had downsides since we don't have any control over where the finished planes are sent or how they are used. A lot of complaints about UK making weapons being used in genocide goes back to those planes.

Shared intelligence is a big issue, but it's shared intelligence. The US stands to lose from that relationship ending too. Plus we don't have a choice. If the US isn't trustworthy any more then it's suicidal to rely on their intelligence. And the increasing incompetence/loss of cooperation from other parties means their intelligence won't be worth as much anyway.

The US is advanced in terms of hardware. But most of its power and it's benefit in terms of an ally comes from the confidence other countries (enemies and friends) have in it. As they lose confidence we lose to even if America was still a staunch ally to us. Which they aren't.

Woke this morning to a nice derail of this thread...Hmm

Back on topic, Russia is, of course, absolutely thrilled at Trump's behaviour in blowing up NATO and picking a serious fight with European countries. They're publicly actively encouraging him.

'Europe is at a total loss': Russia gloats over Greenland tensions
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c17zpvkddpzo

"If Trump annexes Greenland by July 4 2026, when America celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, he will go down in history as a figure who asserted the greatness of the United States," writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Russia's investment in Trump and MAGA is exceeding all their expectations. The Soviet Union failed in their efforts to destroy the US in the 20th century.

Russia is succeeding now.

I snorted when I read that post.

In fairness fentanyl deaths are down dramatically. They started plummeting in 2024 though and the decrease got faster in 2025. So before Trump took office although maybe thats the "behind the scenes" good work the poster was talking about

The positive explanation is that people have got better at preventing deaths -Narcan being made readily available etc. A darker reason is that fentanyl is so much better at killing people than heroin or cocaine all the people who would have died from fentanyl had already died by 2023/2024 when deaths peaked.

Russia has also managed to destroy itself in the process of course. As always. Anyway it's good news for China.

They're not wrong that 'Kennedy looking after health, is doing more than anyone to stop big pharma.'

He's had an impressive impact on reducing MMR vaccines and increasing the cases of measles.
