Help settle a discussion dh and I are pondering please?! I think we have more TVs than the average household, he thinks we have the average amount 😂
How many do you have (with either freeview or sky or with streaming functions) and how many people live in your house?
I’ll come back and update in a bit, I’m just going out for a quick swim!!

1 and three people in house

blankcanvas3 · 10/01/2026 12:32

8, one in living room, one in kitchen, one in our bedroom, one in DS’s bedroom, one in each spare bedroom, one in the annexe living room and one in the annexe bedroom

Hadalifeonce · 10/01/2026 12:34

2 TVs, one in each sitting room, 3/4 people.
Never had one in bedrooms, despite DC begging when they were younger.

Karmaisaguyonthechiefs · 10/01/2026 12:37

1 tv in living room and 5 people

NegroniMacaroni · 10/01/2026 12:38

None.. and I work in TV. I used to watch on my laptop but don't have the time/energy now.

Giggorata · 10/01/2026 12:41

Two.
One for DH, who watches more terrestrial TV than I do: documentaries, antiques, blade making, wildlife, car salvage and so forth.
One big one, for Snooker, space and films. Rarely used, in comparison with the other things.
I stream and binge watch certain TV programmes on my iPad.

mindutopia · 10/01/2026 12:45

We have 2. One in the lounge, one in the spare bedroom granny flat that functions more as a second lounge when we need to separate the kids before they kill each other.

We don’t watch a lot of tv (Dh and I almost never, maybe a few times a year), so only the main one is regularly used. The spare room one maybe a few times a month by teen dd.

HarveyLouis · 10/01/2026 12:47

4 people in the house, 5 smart TVs, 2 with sky

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 10/01/2026 12:48

One. I strongly disagree with TVs in bedrooms.

whiteroseredrose · 10/01/2026 12:49

Two. One in the sitting room and one in the kitchen.

DC have left but originally 4 people, now just two of us.

ThirdStorm · 10/01/2026 12:50

MiddleAgedDread · 10/01/2026 08:29

1 in my living room, 1 person

Same here. Can’t stand tv in a bedroom and I can only watch one tv at a time! 😎

modernminimalist · 10/01/2026 12:52

1 person, 2 tvs

itsthetea · 10/01/2026 12:54

1 tv
2 people

pouletvous · 10/01/2026 12:54

One. But we use ipads
too

MargaretThursday · 10/01/2026 12:55

None.

Growing up we had one b/w one (in the 80s) and then got a colour one in the 90s.

Dh has never lived in a house with a TV.

It wasn't really a decision more we couldn't afford the licence fee when we were first married, and just never got one.

Mikart · 10/01/2026 08:27

One. 2 of us.

Same here...a big one in the lounge, never had any in the bedrooms since son left home.

RavenPie · 10/01/2026 12:55

1TV - 6 people. Used to have a tv for consoles but it was clutter and nobody used it so it went a couple of years ago.

We have 3 PCs, 2 laptops, 4 iPads. I watch tv on my iPad absolutely loads.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 10/01/2026 12:56

One in the living room. Me and 2DC.

NamelessNinja · 10/01/2026 12:56

1 in our living room, 5 people (3 of whom children) admittedly both adults often watch on their phones in other rooms.

PeonyBulb · 10/01/2026 12:58

One in the kitchen and one in the living room. We all watch TV on laptops and iPads so that increases it somewhat

FellowSuffereroftheAbsurd · 10/01/2026 13:04

2 TVs for 6 people. 1 flat screen HD for most things that we call the top TV, 1 CRT for old consoles and watching older stuff that we call the bottom TV.

Both are in the living room in a unit my husband built so that the CRT and older equipment are down low to better manage their weight and size - fairly similar to where CRTs normally would be, while the flat screen I'd say is slightly higher that I've seen most people mount their flat screens, but ours sits on top of the unit with shelves in between for consoles and related equipment.

We also have a desktop computer attached to the top TV. When my kids were younger, all their computer stuff was done through the TV, it worked really well until COVID when we had multiple kids in secondary needing computers at once. Now it's mainly used for the hard drive for movies we bought digital copies of.

grandschemeofthings · 10/01/2026 13:08

2 adults, 2 DS teens, just 1 TV in living room. Debating having one in new kitchen extension. No screens upstairs/in bedrooms.

MildlyAnnoyed · 10/01/2026 13:09

Four. One in the living room, one in each in our bedrooms.

Extraenergyneeded · 10/01/2026 14:41

2 downstairs in lounge and ‘playroom’
Tend to use laptop or Kindle fire instead of second TV ( as it’s in a cold room)
2 adults

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 10/01/2026 12:48

One. I strongly disagree with TVs in bedrooms.

Can I ask why you disagree with tvs in a bedroom and why strongly?
