Help settle a discussion dh and I are pondering please?! I think we have more TVs than the average household, he thinks we have the average amount 😂
How many do you have (with either freeview or sky or with streaming functions) and how many people live in your house?
I’ll come back and update in a bit, I’m just going out for a quick swim!!

My adult DD lives with her 3 friends and they don’t have a TV- they are 25ish. They only watch shows they want on Netflix and Prime etc.

Girlintheframe · 10/01/2026 08:35

2- 1 in lounge and 1 in sons bedroom

2025mustbebetter · 10/01/2026 08:35

We have 2. One in lounge and one in family room. 5 people.

My kids however use laptops to watch Netflix and prime in their rooms.

Notmyreality · 10/01/2026 08:35

One in each of the 3 main bedrooms, one in the living room which is mostly on as background, one large one in the “home cinema” room which is the main one we use for serious watching. 4 in the house (2 adults,2kids)

TheNightIMetYou · 10/01/2026 08:37

We have 7 tvs, 4 people

Main lounge, second lounge, our bedroom, one in each kids bedroom, spare bedroom, partners office.

REDB99 · 10/01/2026 08:37

One in the living room, me and my 8 year old DD in the house.

DuckBushCityLimit · 10/01/2026 08:38

One, in the living room. Four people, not a very big house.

Growing up, we had (small, CRT) TVs in all our bedrooms, so we probably had five or six altogether at one point. Teens now have their phones/laptops/ipad instead I guess. We did have wall sockets put in when we extended into the loft so we could have a TV in our bedroom up there, but haven't got round to actually getting one.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 10/01/2026 08:38

6 & 3 people.

3 in bedrooms (1 guest room)
2 in reception rooms
1 in gym

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 10/01/2026 08:38

We have loads 🤣 and spares. Front room, main lounge (huge thing), garage, bedrooms (not the 9 year olds as he didn’t like the shadows on it in the dark) and one bathroom. The front room one is the one on the most as the kids play games on the switch on it.

dunroamingfornow · 10/01/2026 08:39

4, one in kitchen, one in lounge, one in my bedroom and another in the playroom mostly used for gaming. Just me and DS

RampantIvy · 10/01/2026 08:39

One in the living room. I much prefer watching TV on a TV than sitting hunched over a small screen.

One in the kitchen - I like to watch Pointless when preparing the evening meal.

One in the spare bedroom/my office/upstairs sitting room. It was useful when DD was at home and had friends round or parties and we could stay out of the way. I use it as a radio when I am working.

I'm not snobby or morally superior about watching TV, and love reading and have other interests, but I would find life dull if I didn't have a good drama series to watch.

And yes, I pay my TV licence and feel it is good value.

notacooldad · 10/01/2026 08:40

We have one.

SemmaLina · 10/01/2026 08:41

2 between 2 of us , we have His & Hers sitting rooms as I can’t watch scary stuff and DH doesn’t like Bridgerton

edited to add
Just the 2 of us at home

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 10/01/2026 08:41

One in the lounge - 3 people. Always hated the idea of having a tv in the bedroom. I remember being surprised when I visited California & lots of people had tvs all over the place, including the kitchen.

Holidaytrees · 10/01/2026 08:42

Mikart · 10/01/2026 08:27

One. 2 of us.

One 5 of us. It’s pretty huge though

MonkeyPuddle · 10/01/2026 08:42

One. Two adults and two children. Tv is in the living room. They won’t be getting a TV in their bedrooms.

LilyBunch25 · 10/01/2026 08:42

One in the living room and one still in its box from when we moved in here 3 years ago. Decided not to put one in either bedroom when we moved in. 2 adults, and don't feel need for more than one.

PersephoneParlormaid · 10/01/2026 08:43

4 people and 4 TV’s. We do not have one in the bedroom, I won’t allow it!

cornbunting · 10/01/2026 08:43

We have one TV with several different streaming services. It's in the living room, and our household is two adults and two tween kids.

If someone is admitted to hospital then a laptop with downloaded films/TV goes along, but we don't use them for this purpose in everyday life.

user593 · 10/01/2026 08:44

One for a family of four.

Londonnight · 10/01/2026 08:44

Two, one in the living room, one in the bedroom. One person

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 10/01/2026 08:44

One TV in the lounge, two people.

I would never have one in a bedroom (unless I was bed-ridden),
I also would not put a bed in the kitchen,
nor an oven in the toilet,
nor a dog in a manger.

Enrichetta · 10/01/2026 08:46

None. There’s two of us. We connect a laptop to a screen (c. 40 x 60 cm) and watch mostly iPlayer.

The only time I kind of miss a proper TV is during wildlife programmes.

CoheedandCambria · 10/01/2026 08:47

One in the living room. 3 people.

Snowingtoday · 10/01/2026 08:47

CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich · 10/01/2026 08:32

One - in my living room.

I live alone now, but even when a) I was married, and b) when my children were living here, we only had the one. It’s really small too! 😬

That's my situation too: Always only one TV, in the living room and always a small one.
I really dislike a TV to dominate a room. I like my small one because it's incidental to the room and not the focal point.

I will add I have a radio in very room bar the bathrooms. Radio is my thing. And most of them are Bluetooth enabled so I can listen to my talking books.
