How many TVs do you have?

Help settle a discussion dh and I are pondering please?! I think we have more TVs than the average household, he thinks we have the average amount 😂
How many do you have (with either freeview or sky or with streaming functions) and how many people live in your house?
I’ll come back and update in a bit, I’m just going out for a quick swim!!

Just one in the living room. I'm alone now but it was the same when there was 3 of us living here before they died.

I do sometimes watch something on my iPad on a stand on my bedside table though and I have a handheld version of my PS5 to use in bed too.

Noshadelamp · 10/01/2026 09:41

One now with 2-3 people but we've had every combination possible of up to three televisions with up to 4 people.

We have three - lounge, kitchen and my DS room. My DD has just viewed a three bed house with eight TVs occupied by two people.

gamerchick · 10/01/2026 09:44
  1. One in living room for my gaming set up. One in playroom for teens gaming set up. 1 in husbands bedroom which is 3D, so we can watch 3D films and husbands gaming set up and 1 older style in my bedroom so I can play original Xbox.

We don't have sky etc at all as we don't watch TV.

Teenagerantruns · 10/01/2026 09:44

3 tvs, 2 people.
One in the lounge, one in the bedroom. Can't remember the last time the one in bedroom was turned on
one in spare room that was left here by my DS not even sure why we kept it, l can't find the remote for that one.

TheChosenTwo · 10/01/2026 09:44

I’m back, loads of responses im going to read through before I can decide (from
this small sample of the population!) if dh is right or me - I suspect me…
in the meantime I’ll share our stats:
6 TVs, 3 with their own sky boxes and 3 with freeview/streaming. 5 people living here (4 really as one is temp at uni).
thanks everyone, now off to read the answers.

Can I ask those who don't have a TV - do you never ever watch anything on a screen? Laptop/tablet/phone, YouTube videos/films/other?

DiscoBeat · 10/01/2026 09:49

Oh dear. Quite a few... Living room, kitchen, office x2 (DH uses one as a monitor), games room, DS15x2 and DS17 x1 (DS ones are monitors). So 8 between 4 of us!

Mum2Fergus · 10/01/2026 09:50

One in living room.

Bbq1 · 10/01/2026 10:02

Four. Three of us. One in living room, one in lounge, one in ds's room and one in our room. The TV in our room is very, very rarely used.

Surely monitors don't count? We have those too.

TheChosenTwo · 10/01/2026 10:08

I wasn’t counting monitors!

1 in the living room. There are 2 of us - me and DD13.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 10/01/2026 10:12

2, one in lounge, 1 in our bedroom no tv 7yr olds bedroom

dancingthroughthelightningstrike · 10/01/2026 10:13

One in the living room and one in the loft we used to have in the bedroom. I do watch TV on my iPad though.

winnieanddaisy · 10/01/2026 10:17

We are a family of 4 adults . We have 6 TVs all with Sky Glass capability.

Solaire18381 · 10/01/2026 10:17

One TV. Another that doesn't work and another that's in the fridge door.

But only one actual working TV, less than previous decades in fact and we probably watch the fridge TV more than anything.

TheChosenTwo · 10/01/2026 10:44

Right, have had time to read through. I think I’m definitely right in that we have more TVs than the ‘average household’ (I didn’t keep a tally!) but possibly less clear about that on a tv:people ratio.
Scintillating conversations dh and I have, I know 😂

Household with one tv which is switched on maybe twice a year……yes we watch stuff on iPads or phones

ineedhelp37 · 10/01/2026 10:58

3, family of 5.

Fasterthan40 · 10/01/2026 10:59

Four people: one TV in front room, one in guest room. And a projector in the family room/gym.

lljkk · 10/01/2026 11:10

One person in HH, no TVs. I don't even have a TV license.

sakura06 · 10/01/2026 12:25

2 TVs. 4 people. But our daughter never uses the one in her bedroom, preferring the one in the lounge. 🫣

Miranda65 · 10/01/2026 12:28

One, and it's very small.
I hate large TVs, and I dislike TVs in the living room....even when they're switched off, the dominate (and ruin) the room.

2 adults living here, and that's all we've ever had.
