Help settle a discussion dh and I are pondering please?! I think we have more TVs than the average household, he thinks we have the average amount 😂
How many do you have (with either freeview or sky or with streaming functions) and how many people live in your house?
I’ll come back and update in a bit, I’m just going out for a quick swim!!

We have 3. 1 in the living room, 1 in the open plan kitchen/dining room and 1 in the spare room which has the playstation in. All 3 are used often. We usually have people round to watch the football which is what the kitchen one is used for.

Glitterbiscuits · 10/01/2026 09:12

One
Now just 2 adults
But our kids never had tvs in their rooms

Isekaied · 10/01/2026 09:12

1

2 adults. And 2 kids.

Offmybloodybulbs · 10/01/2026 09:12

Three - 4 people. But not sure question really makes sense. TV in sons bedroom is used to play playstation he watches 'TV'/ anime on his pc DD watches TV on her laptop in her bedroom. I'm the only one who really watches TV on a TV. And some enforced family watching

HostaCentral · 10/01/2026 09:13
  1. One in the lounge, one in the conservatory. Never had TVs in our nor the children's bedrooms.

We all have laptops if we want to watch TV in bed, which we don't unless ill!

HuntingforOutfit · 10/01/2026 09:13

7 tvs plugged in
2 tvs not plugged in
2 adults

Isadora2007 · 10/01/2026 09:15

We have 4 TVs and four people live here. One in lounge, one in other communal room. One in our bedroom and one in teen DDs room.

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/01/2026 09:15

One in the lounge
One in the dining room (DH won it)
One in DS room
One in the spare room (given to us by DSIS when she moved overseas. It's quite small so we would take it in our caravan).

There's only 3 of us.

About 29% of British adults (29%) have one TV in their household, while another 31% have two TVs. Three in 10 households (31%) have three or more TVs, with 18% reporting ownership of three TVs and 13% having four or more screens.

ZookeeperSE · 10/01/2026 09:16

4 people (when DDs home from Uni) and 5 TVs.
But three of those are in outbuildings and used when people are staying overnight here, we’ve only got 2 in the house.

Eejaymm · 10/01/2026 09:20

1, and we never had TVs in the kids rooms.

MermaidMummy06 · 10/01/2026 09:21

We have one. In our main living/dining/kitchen area. It's a 65 inch so reasonably large.

It's not watched much as I see it as time waster, and most tv is utter rubbish.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 10/01/2026 09:22

2 in a 4 bed house ... we only have 1 in kitchen area as parent left it to us, otherwise we'd just have 1 in lounge.

Peridot1 · 10/01/2026 09:22

Three. Three people in house. One in sitting area in open plan kitchen/dining room - DH and I use that. One in living room - DS uses that. One in the study which DH watches during the day for rugby/cricket etc.

There is a small one in my bedroom which was there when we bought the house but it’s not connected so never used and will come down when we decorate the room this year.

I’m not keen on them in bedrooms.

Elmo230885 · 10/01/2026 09:28

1 in the living room.
2 adults, 2 kids (6 & 8).
May consider a second TV in the conservatory this year.

RampantIvy · 10/01/2026 09:28

and always a small one.

Sadly, my eyesight isn't good enough to be able to see the image on a small screen. Ours isn't a ridiculously huge TV, but big enough to be able to watch wildlife documentaries and other programmes that benefit from high res images clearly in HD.

TBH I don't understand or subscribe to TV snobbery.

NoelEdmondsHairGel · 10/01/2026 09:32

Two (1 in main living room, 1 in snug)
Four people

Dontsparethehorses · 10/01/2026 09:32

2 TV 4 people

JanglingJessica · 10/01/2026 09:35

1 with 4 people.

I don't really like TV - I'm still on board with the view that they're not as good as radios because they can't go around walls... DP watches it a lot (disabled and nearly always at home, so it keeps him in touch with the world) so we'll always have one, but one is enough. Kids will watch it a bit, but much less than I did at their ages. They're keener on PC games currently and fight over that instead.

TeenToTwenties · 10/01/2026 09:35

6, for 3 adults.

3 in bedrooms, then living room, conservatory, and a 'hobby' room.

Dontcallmescarface · 10/01/2026 09:36

1 in the living room. 2 adults. Never had (or would want), a t.v in the bedroom.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 10/01/2026 09:37

5 - one each in living room, snug, kitchen, DP's home office and spare bedroom. Kitchen one is the latest and great for me as I do the cooking.

HelpMeGetThrough · 10/01/2026 09:38

3 in the house, 1 in the lounge and the boys have one in their rooms. All TVs have Sky Q and Netflix. Pretty sure both boys have other streaming services as well, but don’t know for sure.

Don’t have one in our room and never will.

CottonPyjamas · 10/01/2026 09:39

1 TV - 5 people

PumpkinSparkleFairy · 10/01/2026 09:41

No TVs - three people and a cat.
